The team at Panoply is extremely helpful and responsive. As someone who is not a developer they have helped me troubleshoot several flex connector setups and setup our API calls quickly. They have also been able to help us navigate big query limitations though panoply well.

I wish the workbench had the code review features that the big query portal has.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our organization needed a data warehouse to store data for operational and BI purposes. However we are a small organization without a full time developer and the customer support fills the gap in our knowledge when setting up the database and makes setting up API connections much faster.

I like using Panoply because it allows me to collect data from different sources in just one click. I appreciate not needing a developer to code when pulling data, since the UI is easy to use and there are a lot of popular sources available. It's quick and easy to use. The support is nice and quick, which helps a small company when building a data pipeline. Setting it up was super easy.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

Panoply solved a huge problem we had with trying to analyze our Paid Media Analytics. The platform is very intuitive and easy to use, any problems are solved efficiently by the support staff. Specifically Emerson (Sales) and Seth (Dev) have been incredibly helpful in the implementation of the dashboards and integration with the BI Tool, Trevor. We now have dashboards on the TV/Wall that display all of our Paid Media Analytics and it is all automated through Panoply. We use it every single day, on autopilot, once you set this platform up it takes very little to maintain the connections. They helped us build out custom flex connections for our CRM as well! We are super happy with the team and the product.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

The downsides would be scratching our heads at times as to how to create custom flex connections. But the team took care of that and helped us build them out. Another thing that was difficult was the SQL Dashboarding inside of Panoply itself, as we are not a development team. However, if you know SQL, I am sure it is an intuitive software to handle any and all queries.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Panoply is changing the game by offering these advanced ingestion services at an exetremely competitive price. We went through around 15 companies before landing on Panoply. We especially loved that we could get all of our Local Service Ads data as this seems to be a problem with most companies. Google themselves doesn't have an LSA Connector in Looker Studio.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

Panoply is a great tool on its own, but the customer success team is really what sets the service apart. People like Ryan are always a pleasure to work with, whether we're asking for their help or just general guidance. They make it so easy to manage your data, whether you're a seasoned pro like some folks on our team, or more of an amateur like myself. Panoply was one of the first services I brought on when I started in my current role for a reason - they are a dependable partner that is truly there to support your data needs at every turn.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

My only real dislike is the friction in automating the process of importing BigQuery data into Google Sheets. Since the BigQuery account is provisioned by Panoply, it cannot directly connect to a Sheet, which would be nice to be able to take advantage of the native Sheets<>BigQuery integration. As a workaround, I've been using another add-on to query the database and import results into Sheets. However, it would be nice to be able to use the native Sheets/BigQuery features for a more streamlined workflow.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Panoply gives us the full capabilities of a data warehouse, but without the challenge of setting one up and managing it ourselves. The far more user-friendly workflow through Panoply allows us to leverage the power of a data warehouse while still minimizing the hurdles and resources required to get the job done.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

Panoply has been a game-changer in how we handle data, offering an incredibly intuitive and efficient platform that seamlessly bridges the gap between our low-code applications and Google's BigQuery tools.  It's made development of data anallysis tools fast and effective for our small yet role diverse team.

Moreover, Panoply's customer support stands out as some of the best I've ever experienced.  We feel like we have a partner rather just a helpdesk when working with them.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Nothing yet.  Perhaps being able to create folders to store our connectors.  Right now we rely on naming convetions to categorize and group them.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A direct and easy way to connect our incoming data to BigQuery.

What I've found most helpful is how fast, responsive, professional, and smart their support staff is. They've helped me trouble shoot a lot of issues, even offering advice on how to best write SQL queries to get exactly what I need out of the database.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

This goes hand in hand with what I like most, there does seem to be issues more so than I would imagine with pulling in data but they have always managed to find a solution and get my connectors working again.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work within Marketing, which means we have a ton of third-party data. Being able to pull all of that into one place and then join or union or chart alongside eachother is super beneficial for me to fully understand the impact of all of our marketing initiatives and make data-based decisions.

Panoply makes accessing my company's data stored on AWS very easy. The data connector setup is flexible and easy to understand even without much data engineering experience. The customer support has also been great. Panoply is quick to respond to any question I've had and has helped me work through some nuanced issues with data import.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

The only thing I can think of is the limit on query bytes, but querying data has inherent cost on any platform. If anything the query byte limit has improved my query efficiency!

The team are fantastic - support is quick and effective, with issues and questions being resolved quickly. One of the key value points for us is the ability to request custom connectors, built by the Panoply team - this means I don't need to resource this requirement and can focus my team on delivering insights, not developing data pipelines

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

I haven't found anything I've disliked about Panoply. The solution overall is fantastic and has helped us achieve key business objectives around reporting and insights at a relatively low cost and in a much shorter timescale than we thought possible.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using Panoply to consolidate multiple business data sources without having to build or maintain data pipelines or associated infrastructure. We've been able to build out a fully-fledged reporting and insights capability for our business in a matter of months - using Panoply, we were able to go from data loading to insights in just a couple of hours.

Workbench could be updated to predict column names while typing. I need to refresh the page of tables everytime a table is updated. When a table is searched for, it disappears if the page reloads and I have to search again (fixed filters would be good)

Panoply makes it's so easy and efficient to manage your data from multiple sources and transform it for Power BI. On top of that, the entire team from wo to go is so helpful and supportive and always on call to troubleshoot any issues that may occur.

There have been a steady stream of minor issues.   We are on the legacy service, though, and I suspect BigQuery would be better.

We use Panoply partially as a data warehouse and partially as an app back end, the second of which is clearly misuse.  We're working to correct that.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

In Panoply, we can perform quick querying & visualization within a few clicks in its intuitive console. We obtain our customer data from various data sources such as Adobe Analytics, Salesforce and Teradata and perform ad-hoc analysis and visualization in Panoply. It's our central data warehouse platform to handle dubious workload ingestion and manage unforeseen spikes in user queries.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Overall, we are satisfied with the data warehouse solutions offered by Panoply. Its pricing models for Premium & Basic services are high compared to other data warehouse platforms. If more cost flexibility is provided, then Panoply can be used by small-scale and mid-scale companies. For having extensive data set requirements & historical load processing, Panoply is suitable.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We build Panoply on top of our Amazon Redshift service & Panoply manages the cluster scalability without downtime. We can use its auto-suspend feature to save cost expenditures when we don't run any queries. Incremental key definitions benefit us as we define them for our incremental and large historical data sets. 

All the latest security patches and encryption standards are taken care of by Panoply so that we don't have to worry about security governance or compliance standards while working with our customer-sensitive data sets. Data ingestion, Aggregation, metric calculations and other ETL operations can be done easily as Panpoly supports Data Query Language (DQL) in its workbench.

Panoply has been a very straight-forward and simple-to-use solution to bring together our data.  Because of its ease-of-use, we don't spend much time maintaining it or worrying about it.  It doesn't get "in the way".  Instead, it helps us.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

You have to pay attention to whether you really want a particular set or, really subset, of data in Panoply.  You have to have a good strategy for that, or you end up consuming too much of your storage and can run the risk of over-running.  Basically, you do have to pay attention.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Panoply makes it easy for us to quickly analyze our data regardless of the source and it does so for people who are not necessarily data experts in their normal roles.  It somewhat democratizes access to data.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

- Ease of Use - Easy to use platform enabled us to get to a proof of concept on our data pipeline in a single day. We were connecting several data sources, some of which were non standard. The platform was able to pull in the data we needed flawlessly for all of the commonly used data sources
- Removed Human Error - The automated system appears well designed and eliminated any human error in our reporting process
- Informed, Effective Customer Service - They had BI Analysts /Data Scientists on staff who were able to jump in and create custom connections to some of our nonstandard data sources. They even offered to help with some of the data blending that we were doing. This effectively lowered the bar and shortened the time to value for our organization

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Have very little bad to say about the product and team. Their product is a bit on the expensive side but it is certainly worth the cost to have professionals able to trouble shoot any issues that may arise

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Panoply enabled us to set up a data pipeline in days so that we could focus on pulling insights out of our data and not managing and coding up connections to several data sources.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

Panoply reduced our reliance on manual input by a very wide margin. In turn,  this increased our confidence in data by cleanly aggregating and storing multiple datasets from multiple tenets, removing user-errors and greatly reducing the associated need for time-intensive Q&A of manual inputs. The end result is that Panoply freed up team resources to focus on what they do best - provide meaningful insights to promote change and decision-making both internally and with our clients.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Their customer service has improved since our onboarding considerably. It's clear they've made strategic investment here. Our reps were hands-on and very communicative as our data needs changed and shifted with company scale, both up and down.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our databases are now stored in the cloud more safely intelligently, and we're leveraging ETL in a more automated way across a wide variety of datasets, both digitally and measurements of real-world impact. We have more time and resources to solving more complex data challenges at the source, rather than downstream.

We are using for example in extract all information related with mondodb, postgresql, fb Ads, Google Ads and other sources for example s3, the easy of use of this tool is amazing just connect and mapping the sources and destination

Could be the pricing model, we noticed that another tools like airbyte or another open source could be more cheaper than panoply in any aspects, this one of the reason I dislike panoply

  ### 18. Post-acquisition Blues - Avoid Panoply and Save Yourself the Headache

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

The promise of Panoply and its functionality, when it works, is quite good. The ability to quickly sync data from various sources into a data warehouse is certainly valuable, and what they promise has a good deal of business value. Unfortunately, what is inputted into the UI does not always result in the expected output so their value proposition is nothing more than a broken promise now.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Where to start... support team has an "average response time of 1 day" according to their Intercom widget. In reality, it can be several days to receive and follow-up at all and then when you do hear from them, they rarely have solutions. I have a Facebook Ads connector that has been broken for weeks and I've re-configured 5 times as they instructed and still it won't pull in historical data. They don't follow-up proactively or provide updates on issues at all. The issues with the platform have cropped up since they were acquired by an Israeli company which, from a user perspective, has clearly not invested enough into the Panoply software or support team. AVOID this platform! Whatever cost savings you think you might get will be lost in the hours spent banging your head against the wall waiting for them to fix their faulty platform. You'd be better off with literally any other solution. I was a Panoply user for years and finally have convinced our CFO to ditch Panoply due to their many failures.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Panoply is solving nothing for my organization because its platform is not adequately supported and is not functioning as it should. The Panoply platform is creating more issues and reducing productivity instead of enabling it.

As you may remember, once I was made aware of it, I was able to escalate this issue and orchestrate a prompt solution. We can build off of this, and we have already created better processes to escalate and solve issues in the future. We have reached out to your CFO to explain this initiative and how we can make things better, but we never heard back. We would love to connect with you and your CFO if you are open to it. I wish you the best and hope we can work together again.

The platform is *extremely* easy to set up with reliable data ingestion from lots of commonly needed data sources, and where they're missing, the customer support team's work has exceeded our expectations.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Documentation is lacking in certain places, though that's made up for by customer support.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a fashion business, we use Panoply to bring together our scattered data under one platform. From Panoply, various stakeholders can extract and analyze the data in their own preferred way but still speak the same numbers across teams.

I don't have to worry about the day to day care and feeding of the database.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

The number of data sources can be better, but they are very responsive when requesting adding new ones.  Also, their generic connector they developed is working well.

Data is more and more important to be able to answer questions and act on facts not feelings.  Panoply helps make that a reality for companies that need to centralize their data and report from it.

When deleting existing tables, 'view dependences' is not always clear on the prompt. Need to run a separate view dependencies query to extract dependent views.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reporting platform (Power BI) not designed for table manipulation, and ingesting large amounts of data. Panoply creates simple, repeatable tables/views as source of truth.

Those tables are then fed into other systems, such as commissions management to process commissions. Because table manipulations are done in panoply, there is little need to manipulate data in commissions software.

That ways, both power bi and commissions sw are on the page always.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

Ease of use, scheduling options, and admin tasks they perform on RedShift

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Not much - perhaps an enhanced dashboard (or API access to underlying data)  to see job history / run-time / failures / rows written, etc.  The data is available to view and we do get noticed when a job fails, but a better dashboard would be a nice addition

**Recommendations to others considering Panoply:**

They do a very good job.  There are more robust "Transformation" like solutions and other solutions which may have more bells and whistles re: interface or job frequency every XX minutes, but you have to ask yourself several questions:  1) do you really need all of that functionality or is it a nice to have, 2) do you want a system is dependable and easy to use, 3)  does your exisiting system have a very easy learning curve, what would you do if a key employee left  (your data migration admin, for example), 4) do you want to pay by the amount of rows you move (Panoply does not charge that way)  or the datawarehouse capacity you have.  We have looked at a number of others over the years but could not justify the incremental cost (both to migrate and then recurring costs) .

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mass data transport on varying schedules from source systems in different formats (csv, xlsx, Google Sheets, SQL, Postrgres, SAAS applications and the like) to a platform in which we can transform and ultimately build datawarehouse.   We follow ELT and not ETL.

Easy to use product for a managed data warehouse. Appreciate the flat pricing. Easy to connect to own IDE, BI tool, and they have connectors prebuilt for most of what we needed.

Only 1 schema initially that would contain source and fact/dim and staging tables. Though they might be able to change that, I didn't explicitly request it.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

My needs for a warehouse came from doing lean with a variety of products that we were experimenting with. Standing up manual warehouses to connect our services was cost-prohibitive and lessened our time to market. With Panoply we were able to warehouse data from a variety of disparate sources without the IT overhead of provisioning/optimizing/managing data clusters. Panoply, simply enabled us to do advanced data analysis on new ventures to determine if they were worth continued investment. Incredible service.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

There's not much to dislike. The optimizations happened automatically, the cluster was always available and adding additional users was a breeze. I struggle to think of a part of the service that was lacking.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Warehouses are difficult and tedious to manage and as a small, lean team that was going to increase our total cost of ownership but without the insights from a warehouse we wouldn't have been able to react to the market as quickly as we wanted to. Panoply let us approach the market like a big company even thought we were funded like a small startup.

Nothing, this is a bad product, pricing changes, scammy team members. Do not recommend

During our evalation period, the product pricing changed to become much much less favorable to us AND our sales contact was fired so at the end of our evalation period we were auto renewed onto this terrible new pricing structure with no contact from their sales team ahead of time. It took us weeks to get in touch with another team member. In order to exit the contract 9 months early, the client success member we were in touch with asked us to leave a 5 star review on this site. We did the 5 star review and ammended our contract, and now the billing department is sending our company invoices the nonammended contract payments for the past few months. I have asked them at least 5 times to change the invoices to what is in the contract but that goes no where. I was going to let this go, but their billing department keeps sending us threatening emails, so I am editing my review to reflect my experience.

**Recommendations to others considering Panoply:**

If you need a datawarehouse and ETL, do it. Product works great, and their support team can set you up on the right path.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using panoply as an ETL and data warehouse solution. We have a lot of our data in a document based database that cannot support SQL queries. Through using panoply, we have been able to create and run regular business reporting jobs against our data, as well as running ad hoc queries.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

You can bring in nearly all of your most critical data sources with just a few clicks and then easily query your data using the built-in SQL editor. The ability to create custom views using a simple SQL transformation makes it easy to have confidence that the data you're working with is clean and consistent. Support for the product has been tremendous as well.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

The integration list isn't completely comprehensive, so you may still have to do some manual work or involve another third party to flesh out all your connections. But the list of integrations is always expanding, so the team appears to be working on this constantly.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using Panoply as our (no code) cloud-based data warehouse solution. It was easy for us to set up, as most data sources only required a few clicks to integrate.

I have tried various systems over the years from full fledged reporting for eCommerce through to my own Amazon Red Shift. However none of them could allow me to easily manage the complexity of multiple data sources and had flexibility.

I was able to marry my Sales, Shopify, Reference data, Forecasting files all together easily and get insights easily. 

External add ons such as Trevor.io make it easy to generate SQL queries without knowing SQL and married with Panoply's great mapping of Shopify data provided an easy to use solution. The ability to pull data from Google Data Sheets, Reference files on top of the usual Shopify, Salesforce and many other sources made it easy to use. 

In 3 days I had reporting up and running with new insights. 
I was also able to store all my data in according with EU's GDPR regulations.

Panoply is always improving things and you have to keep on top of communications to keep up with the improvements and make the best use of their developments.

Panoply's product as a whole is fantastic.  It has alleviated a large portion of our business intelligence responsibilities. The data sources that it integrates with are comprehensive and allows us to ingest everything we need.  The customer support team is incredible.  They have been in constant communication with us to make sure our usage of the product is optimal.  We have experienced no disruptive downtimes with the product.  The online documentation that delves into third-party data schemas is phenomenal and helps us to manage our setups.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

We haven't found anything that we dislike.  I wish that Panoply made more products because we would be eager to use them given their track record of excellence.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems that we solve with Panoply revolve around data source management.  Our systems require a sizeable heterogeneous mix of data from both internal and external services, and Panoply handles many facets of the overall process to manage these services.  Starting with data ingestion / ETL, Panoply helps us to consume the data.  We can schedule the ingestion periodically from these setups.  Panoply handles the long-term storage of this data, and finally, the ability to connect our visualization tools to the Panoply system is a breeze.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

The ease of adding data connections and scheduling jobs.  The list of data connectors covers the most widely used connections in our industry.  There is also a great incremental loading option to speed up the refresh of data.  The tech support from the team behind the scenes is easy to access directly from the UI.  I've had a few conversations with them and they've been incredibly helpful.  The team is also available 24x7.  The data warehouse from Panoply is also much faster at process records than our old data warehouse.  So we were able to decrease report and analytics times.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

There is nothing really to dislike about Panoply.  The UI is evolving and they are open to feedback about enhancing the service.  There are some tips and tricks when working with a cloud-based massive data warehouse (like whitelisting your on-prem database IP address).  Most of the tips come from following the community pages.  When we do receive errors (which is rare), we can contact the team in near real-time through the chat interface.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we solved is being able to process large amounts of data.  We also had an issue with refreshing data every hour, and Panoply solved that problem for us.  The most obvious benefits to us have been the ability to maintain a smaller team but complete a large number of projects as if we were a much bigger team.  We also don't have to worry about maintaining the server and database on our side since to now resides in the Cloud.  As the data warehouse grows, the Cloud service automatically expands.

The size of the data and table is scalable when it comes from multiple data sources, and it loads correctly. Also, it has increasing number of datasources supported which is nice for integration. In some scenrios, it is good to check inside the Panoply for simple SQL run instead of using the Business Intelligence tools which need more time to execute an see the results. If the company has more and more datasource, they will benefit more from Panoply because Panoply has nearly most of the data source possible.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Support team in Panoply takes a while to respond sometimes. When a special request is needed, it will take longer to reach the support for help. If the chunk of the size it's too long, it sometimes required special requests. I dislike about the character limit for the chuck size for some of the time. I would recommended nontext data to avoid such issues.

The managed Redshift Data Warehouse which helps delivering value fast. With it you can manage users and tables inside its portal instead of doing it with SQL. Also, you don't need to worry about cluster configuration and optimization since Panoply will take care of this for you. It is really helpful!

These days, Redshift has query optimization recommendations which Panoply does not provide yet. This resource would be very valuable if provided to Panoply's user.

If you need a Data Warehouse and make data ingestion from external resources while not having a Data Engineering team big enough to build the tools needed for BI and Data Science, Panoply's products will help you take your product out of the ground quicker.

We needed to store data for analysis by the BI and Data Science teams but, at the time, our Data Engineering team was small and didn't have enough resource to manage a Data Warehouse and build the ETLs pipelines at the same time. Panoply helped with an easy solution by providing  a managed Redshift so we could focus on building data pipelines. Thus, BI and Data Science teams were able to test ideas and delivery value fast.

The platform comes with a set of connectors to a great deal of API-enabled services, which perform at an expected level. The data warehouse runs on clean Amazon Redshift and features storage optimization features, which can be useful, especially for frequent collections of relatively persistent data.

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

Connections to other database services are however lacking, especially while using SSH tunelling or a more complex database structure. Changes in source structure are a point that usually requires user intervention.
Experience with customer support is not the best either, especially due to overwhelming amount of followup questions that can be asnwered internally. While they typically respond fairly soon, some issues take long to get resolved.
In terms of compute performance, the transparently priced business plan is okay for simple queries but running more difficult ones featuring complex window functions can take long.
It is very important to discuss location of particular deployment, especially if it will be accessed from outside of the US.

**Recommendations to others considering Panoply:**

If you are an SME looking to integrate data from multiple application services into one cloud-hosted database offering a decent range of analytical capabilities, it is a way to go. Not so much for IT businesses using their own database structures or large enterprises that still keep vast amounts of data in legacy systems unsupported by the platform.

Panoply takes data from production database as well as multiple other sources and allows us to integrate all of them in one place for purposes of internal analyses.

Simple to use Data warehouse with easy to use data integrations and  SQL workbench. Create your own data sets once data is pulled in from the many number of integrations and complete the ETL process. Manipulate the data utilizing SQL to create custom data sets and blended data when needed; i.e. Revenue data blended from Google Ads, Bing Ads and Facebook ads to see the total Ad Revenue amongst all channels. Also love the ability to connect to my current data warehouse and that I can connect to a ton of different BI tools to Visualize the data.

Not much to dislike with the platform. Good price for the amount of storage needed. Wish there was an in house data visualization component so that I do not have to use a 3rd party tool.

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a clone of our production database to report and gain insight.  Panoply has done well to service.

**What do you like best about Panoply?**

- Very easy to setup
- Good for small/medium businesses that do not want to manage their own Redshift database
- Very easy to connect a variety of sources such as Google Sheets, FB ads, Shopify etc.
- Good support throughout

**What do you dislike about Panoply?**

- More data sources could be added, however this constantly improves

**What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Connect diverse datasources to our DWH quickly without added hassle & complexity of setup/managing a database ourselves
