I use OpenFOAM mainly for CFD analysis. It being open sourced definitely allows users to change, upgrade, re-purpose the software as per their needs. What do you dislike about OpenFOAM? Being opensource , there isn't enough development as the other market leaders bring their force into betterment of existing features. I used openfoam for visualization of elements used commonly in CFD such as geometry surfaces, cutting planes, vector plots & streamlines. Animations can be generated conveniently.
