Netcore Unbxd is an exceptionally powerful tool for ecommerce product discovery and merchandising. Its semantic search capabilities, customizable ranking logic, and recommendation engines added a whole new layer of control and sophistication to our Shopify store that we couldn't get from native tools. The support team was knowledgeable and helped bridge the technical gaps during onboarding. For stores needing advanced search, curated merchandising, and deep customization—and who have developer resources—Unbxd offers a level of precision and control that few others can match. The downside was the complexity: despite great support during onboarding, ongoing maintenance required developer expertise that was unsustainable for our small team. The platform was not tightly integrated with Shopify's ecosystem, making it feel a bit separate and harder to manage day-to-day. Some tasks that could ideally be self-service needed technical changes or workarounds. Over time, simpler Shopify-native apps improved, offering enough features without the heavy overhead, leading us to transition away from Unbxd. Before Unbxd, Shopify's default search and merchandising tools were basic and rigid, limiting our ability to guide customers to the right products. Unbxd solved key problems for us by: Providing a smarter, more relevant search experience that reduced customer friction Giving us the ability to prioritize high-value or seasonal products in search results Increasing opportunities for upsells through intelligent product recommendations Enabling a more curated and professional product discovery journey, which aligned better with our premium brand positioning The result was a significant uplift in customer engagement, search-driven conversions, and merchandising flexibility—particularly important in our high-value, boutique jewellery category. Integration setup was easy and quick. If I have issues, the team is quick to respond. I requested a LOT of customization for how my search bar looked and behaved. I needed a lot more customization than i thought i would need and it took a long time for me to get the product looking and behaving how i wanted. The platform has kind of a lot to it and I find some aspects challenging. For example, my efforts to boost popular products and brands just bogged down the system and caused my collection pages to load slower so now i dont really take advantage of the boost feature. I find the new collections feature too cumbersome to use because tracking down shopify product id's is too time consuming. The product recommendations feature will soon not meet my needs. I will be better off using product recommendations from my CDP because it will utilize both in store and online sales data to better inform the algorithm what the true best sellers are. I really appreciate the way the system delivers search results based on multiple attributes with minimal processing time. There is no error-handling mechanism in place. When there is a small change, the entire API stops working and returns zero results. 2. After onboarding, a separate team handles support issues, and they are not familiar with the way we’ve implemented things. We had a hard time explaining the attributes that provide the respective values and why they aren’t processing correctly. 3. There are many features in Unbxd that could be utilized, but there is no proper documentation, which makes it difficult for the marketing team to publish new changes. 4. The support team takes a long time to address integration issues post-go-live. 5. The implementation engineer does not respond when issues arise, so we have to approach the support team each time and explain the cause of the issue, which is time-consuming.
