What is MSP360 Backup, and what problem is it built to solve?

MSP360 Backup is a backup and IT management platform for MSPs and internal IT teams. It is built to protect data and endpoints from ransomware threats.

What languages does MSP360 Backup support?

MSP360 Backup supports 1 language: English.

What company sizes and industries is MSP360 Backup the best fit for?

MSP360 Backup is most represented among small businesses, especially IT service providers and organizations working in computer and network security. The reviewer-reported segments that stand out are:
  • Company size — Small businesses: The clearest concentration is among organizations with 50 or fewer employees.
  • Industry — IT and computer/network security: These are the most prominent industry groups, including teams managing backups for clients.
  • Company size — Mid-market: Mid-market organizations are also represented, though less prominently than small businesses.

How long does it take to implement MSP360 Backup across a team?

Teams often get MSP360 Backup into operation in under a day, while more involved rollouts can take longer.
Time to go live Relative frequency
Under 1 day Most common
Under 1 month Also common
1–3 months Less common

What customer support options does MSP360 Backup provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support includes 24/7 live-rep assistance, with phone, email/help desk, and chat options, alongside self-service resources. The experience is often described as responsive, knowledgeable, and useful for resolving setup or backup issues, though some users have encountered slow or inconsistent follow-through.

What is the experience like for teams switching to MSP360 Backup from another tool?

Switching to MSP360 Backup has often been driven by lower costs, more flexible storage choices, or a need for more centralized backup management. Users have moved from products such as Carbonite, Acronis, Veeam, CrashPlan, and Barracuda, citing backup failures, restrictive storage or licensing, and management overhead; the transition is described as manageable in many cases, though configuring plans and learning the available options can take some effort.

What tools and platforms does MSP360 Backup integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

MSP360 Backup offers 8 integrations. They span cloud storage, file storage, IT service management, and AI-related tools:
  • Cloud and object storage: Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage, CloudMover™ for AWS S3, Wasabi Object Storage, and MinIO AIStor
  • File storage and productivity: Microsoft OneDrive for Business
  • IT service management: Bitrix24 and Syncro
  • AI-related tools: Coveo Agentic AI
In daily use, these connections let teams work with a choice of storage destinations and link backup tasks with other tools in their environment.

What features or capabilities could make MSP360 Backup even more useful?

MSP360 Backup could be more useful with clearer management views and reporting, simpler guidance through setup and troubleshooting, and smoother backup and restore workflows. The recurring improvement requests include:
  • Make dashboards and the interface easier to navigate and customize, with clearer views of backup status and issues.
  • Provide more detailed, understandable error messages and more in-product setup guidance and documentation.
  • Streamline restores, especially for file-level recovery and image-based recovery to different hardware.
  • Expand native platform and database support, and make integrations and remote plan management more seamless.

Is MSP360 Backup considered safe and secure for handling data?

MSP360 Backup is used for protecting data with encrypted backups and local, cloud, or hybrid copies, and users describe those options as reassuring for data protection and recovery. Security confidence is strongest when teams configure encryption and use protected or immutable storage; as with any backup tool, the security of a deployment depends on how those settings and storage destinations are managed.

"Great high level view of assorted backups"
3.5/5
What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?

The software offers a great high level view of assorted backups. They can be monitored easily and managed to provide consistently successful results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?

The software's update cycle is not intuitive and has not improved in years despite specific and simple suggestions to accomplish that. We use the software for online and local backups. It's hard to believe but when there is an Internet connectivity problem the software fails to generate local backups as usual. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"MSP360 for small and growing MSPs can't be beat."
5/5
What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?

Easy to install and configure. It’s completely brandable and supports both Windows and Mac. It’s more than a backup solution, and for a small MSP it covers everything we need—from RMM to backup—within a single console. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?

A better or more customizable dashboard, once you set it up there is no need for the blocks recommending features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient, Affordable Backup Solution"
5/5
What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?

I really like how MSP360 Backup makes it easy to do daily backups without overusing space, thanks to its good compression. It's also great that it runs quickly in the background, allowing me to use my PC while backups are happening, and it supports versioning and incremental backups, which is incredibly handy. I find it very inexpensive for the job it does. I also appreciate the ability to create compressed backup chains that are easy to restore, and the full image backup feature is very useful. The initial setup was "easy as pie," and I've found it to be a really good software suite with reasonable pricing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?

I've found nothing I don't like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Backups and remote support without hassle, with an interface to improve"
4.5/5
What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?

I like the remote monitoring of MSP360 Backup: it's simple and practical. With Connect, I solve 90% of my clients' problems remotely. I found the initial setup very easy and quick, and the installed clients are lightweight. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?

In MSP360 Backup, I miss real-time summarized RMM information in the 'computers' tab. I have to open the performance tab and analyze each machine manually, which takes about 10 seconds per computer. I don't consider this a problem, it would just be a quality of life setting. I also miss a nicer visualization in the front-end part of the online platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable Full-PC Image Backups Without a Backup Server"
4/5
What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?

I needed full-PC image backups with both a local copy and an off-site copy that we fully control. MSP360 Backup delivers that with a small app installed on each PC, and it doesn’t require a backup server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?

There’s no way to export a plan and import it on another PC, so I ended up rebuilding the same plans by hand on each machine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"MSP360 Managed Backup: Simple, Cost-Effective, and Rock-Solid Reliable"
4/5
What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?

I like MSP360 Managed Backup because it strikes a great balance between simplicity, cost, and reliability. The platform is very easy to set up and manage, making day-to-day backup tasks straightforward without a lot of overhead. It’s also a cost‑effective solution, particularly for MSP environments where scaling needs to stay affordable.

Most importantly, it’s reliable — backups run consistently, and restores work when you need them. On top of that, their support is excellent; when you do need help, it’s responsive and genuinely useful. Overall, it’s a solid, no-fuss backup solution that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?

One downside to MSP360 Managed Backup is that it doesn’t offer the same level of granular control over backup settings as some other, more advanced platforms. For users who want to fine-tune every aspect of their backup jobs, policies, and retention rules, this can feel a bit limited.

That said, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The more streamlined approach reduces complexity and makes the platform much easier to manage on a day-to-day basis. In many cases, having fewer overly technical options actually helps avoid misconfiguration and keeps things running smoothly, which can be a big advantage in busy MSP environments. "MSP360 Backup: Lightweight, Easy Setup, and Swift Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?

MSP360 Backup is a highly advanced yet simple backup solution that makes navigation and setup straightforward. I have really enjoyed using it to monitor all the backups for our clients and their support team is swift to respond. They even did a backup health check with us to ensure everything was up and running correctly and smoothly, which you don't see from a lot of software vendors, which is nice. It's also quite lightweight for what it does and does not consume a lot of resources and bandwidth. Navigating the interface is also pretty straightforward and they update it frequently to improve the UI and functionality of the web platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?

I have no bad reviews or experiences about MSP360 which says a lot about this platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Backup Solution with Customization Flexibility"
4.5/5
What do you like best about MSP360 Backup?

I like that MSP360 Backup is free to use. I think it's a very comprehensive tool and not difficult to use. I appreciate that I can back up my whole Windows system for a bare metal restore if needed, to the cloud and to Cloudflare, which is extremely cheap. It lets me back up terabytes for just a few dollars a month and set up automatic backups. The number of options is amazing, allowing me to tailor it exactly to my needs. It's pretty incredible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MSP360 Backup?

Some of the options in MSP360 Backup are a little advanced, even for someone like me who has worked in the IT space for about a decade. I had to Google search some of the options to understand what they were. The setup wasn't the easiest because of this, but it did allow me to tailor and customize the tool to my needs.
