## minicom Reviews
  ### 1. One of the best choice for users especially for Linux

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about minicom?**

It is suitable for different operating systems that means it is like platform free application. Therefore, I can use it on my Linux machine and for other devices which are based on the Linux kernel. Especially, it is the most helpful application in order to access my device, which is based on Embedded Linux via serial communication with RS232. The connection parameters can be manipulated and specialized easily, and you can adjust your connection in the desired parameters.

**What do you dislike about minicom?**

It is handy for people who like to use the terminal. Therefore, it will not be much more helpful for people who want GUI. In the beginning, it could be a little be hard to personalize the settings. However, when you do it once, you can use the same settings for future usage.

**Recommendations to others considering minicom:**

It could be the most beneficial tool to access devices/systems without using a graphical user interface. Minicom is an essential tool for Linux developers. The serial console is vital for working with the bootloader on Embedded Linux-based systems when you do not have access to boot service via SSH or other internet access-based methods. Therefore, you can able to use a bootloader or other fundamental things. Besides, it will also help you to see debug messages.

**What problems is minicom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have had some problems accessing my device via serial connection while using other programs for that purpose. Therefore, it is straightforward for that purpose. I could not live any problem when I tried to connect my device via serial communication.

  ### 2. Good for the intended use cases

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about minicom?**

I can run it on most any interface i.e. it isn't a GUI so over SSH etc. It works well and on a number of platforms. Being able to save the configuration is a plus.

**What do you dislike about minicom?**

The supported options through the keyboard are somewhat non-intuitive. While it is capable and does the job, its not for the faint of heart. If you are not comfortable using the command line then you may want to look elsewhere.

**Recommendations to others considering minicom:**

If you need to access devices/systems that do not have a GUI then this could very well be the tool of choice. Like terra-term for the PC, it is good for accessing various devices. In Linux communicating with the on-board LTE modem it comes in handy.

**What problems is minicom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connecting via serial to target devices that do not support video. When ssh isn't working, the console port is sometimes the only way to get in.
