## TeraTerm Reviews
  ### 1. TeraTerm

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonardo C. | Distribuidor independiente, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2022

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

Excellent application, I was using Putty before but this application seemed more pleasant and intuitive to me. What I liked the most about this application is the configuration since I can set it up to my liking and save it. I recommend it to all those people who connect to a server or a router to do their work remotely.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

The truth is, what I don't like is that I can't connect to the remote desktop. It would be great if it allowed me to connect to my session on my Windows server; this would help a lot with remote work.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The issues are diverse, especially for people who have to deal with routers and servers; they always encounter problems, and both internal and external connections are necessary.

  ### 2. The Perfect Terminal Emulator

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul S. | Technical Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

I have used multiple terminal emulator software in my career as an embedded software engineer but I found TeraTerm as the best and most elegant software due to its simple and easy use user interface. It has to-the-point features without any tantrums.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

I have found nothing that I dislike. It has got all features succinctly developed to be perfect. Although it sometimes misses detecting USB when a device is connected through a USB hub.

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

I recommend everyone who wants to use an easy and clean terminal emulator for their development purposes to use TeraTerm.
It got every feature you'll need like serial, SSH to Telenet.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a startup working towards the sanitization problem in our country. We are developing a smart real-time automation system for public toilets for which we have built our own IoT network with the help of electronics and the cloud. And TeraTerm plays a crucial role during our time of research and development.

  ### 3. TeraTerm Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melvin F. | Senior Firmware Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

  ### 4. Stable software for your serial terminal and TCP/IP connection needs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melvin F. | FIRMWARE ENGINEER, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2021

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

The software is light and stable. Lets you save the session and you can open multiple terminals in a high speed manner and organize them quickly

using the macros makes it easy to configure the nodes through the terminal

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

the software does not allow to type across multiple sessions together. I feel if there is an option to enter the same command in multiple windows it would be great and saves time when it is required to configure more nodes simultaneously

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

if you are embedded engineer and looking for tool to connect your system through UART this is the best one in the market.

Enables you to take a remote session as well

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Remote terminal
serial terminal access

  ### 5. Must have tool for Network Engineers and System Administrator

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yasas Sri S. | Systems Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2020

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

TeraTerm is very light compared to other terminal emulators in the market but it does everything what it is supposed to do. Most impressive thing about TeraTerm is that, it can automatically detect the serial port even if you use serial to USB converter unlike PUTTY.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

Sometimes I feel that there is a small delay in TeraTerm specially when using the serial connection.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using TeraTerm to connect to my network devices and servers via telnet, ssh or serial. The best benefit of TeraTerm that I have realized is that, it is totally free, so no need to worry about purchasing license.

  ### 6. Great full featured dumb terminal program for SSH and serial connections.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roger M. | Sole Proprietor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

It offers features such as file transfer using X/Y/Zmodem and Kermit. It can replay recorded sessions which is very helpful during support calls with vendors/customers. These features are normally found it commercial offerings. It is also regularly updated and is a small download. A must for any network administrator's toolkit.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

Wish you can setup predefined connections.

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

Before dishing out funds for commercial offerings, you should do yourself a favor and use TeraTerm for a week to get it a good trial.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our network equipment has out-of-band management consoles which we can connect to via TeraTerm. We can also use TeraTerm to connect to any SSH server to manage equipment in-band.

  ### 7. Great Terminal Emulator

I love TeraTerm because it does everything that you may need it to do and it does it all better than PuTTY and other open source terminal emulators

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

The default colors are not great, but they can be changed so that's an easy fix.

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

Look no further than TeraTerm for easy terminal emulation software!

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TeraTerm allows me to SSH/Telnet into various networking devices as well as console in with a serial connection. I use TeraTerm when teaching my students as well, as it is simple to set up and easy to understand.

  ### 8. Fast and easy emulator software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Khola M. | Author, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

It is a responsive software that shows the incoming data on the edge or terminal software. We can now set serial port connection without any hesitation.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

It does not have any convert option and shows the conversion format in hex or ascii format only.

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

It is an excellent tool for creating connections and also for serial communication. You can also debug it with micro controller if you are using micro controller tera term.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A good software for debugging which also helps you to communicate to other systems by serial connection.

  ### 9. A very nice software for serial comm. I generally use this software for all my projects

I have used this software in my undergraduate studies and also in my graduate studies. I have made many projects which use this software. The benefits of tera term is the response time. I fwlt that it is faster as compared to Putty

  ### 10. A handy terminal utility that is maintained by the Open-Source community

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

The history of this terminal application lends well to it's overall reliability. I've only recently started using it (after finding it on an Open Source list) and have found it to be useful, and simple.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

It's not as fully-featured as some terminal applications out there, but overall it's a nice little tool to have on hand!

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

TeraTerm is an easy to use platform and is supported by the Open Source community. It has an old school look and takes care of the job you need it to do - accessing terminals!

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TeraTerm gives us access to our shell systems that we use for our build and hosting needs.

  ### 11. Reliable and Easy to use

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

The best feature of teraterm i like is that it is light, easy and the shortcuts are very simple.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

Every time I have open tera term I have to adjust the baudrate to 115200. I wish that once I set it, it would remember the last baud rate i used.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use teraterm mainly for testing and debugging PCBs that we design

  ### 12. Great Terminal Emulator

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

I love that Teraterm is open source and is very feature rich. It handles serial connections super well through the drop down box as well as all of the other features you would expect from a terminal emulator.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

I have no major dislikes expect for the fact that there is less documentation online than for other terminal emulators.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use TeraTerm both to connect to serial devices as well as to ssh into remote servers. Using TeraTerm makes both of these much easier for engineers and saves us time.

  ### 13. Excellent terminal

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John M. | Apple Campus Representative, Consumer Electronics, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2018

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

Ease to change character set and uart baud rate

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

No X11 support. Need additional app for x11 over ssh

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ssh to Linux machine and uart for USB devices

  ### 14. Easy to use Terminal Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex S. | Test Development Engineer, Defense & Space, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2019

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

  ### 15. Good, Free Emulator

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2018

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

The two best things about TeraTerm are: 1) it's flexible and 2) it's free. You can customize the settings to connect to any host or port that you need. I also appreciate that you can switch between black background w/ white text and white background w/ black text. It's a small detail, but it allows each user to use the contrast that they think is best.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

TeraTerm is only available for Windows, so if you're running a Mac you'll need to find another option (or use Remote Desktop). Also, TeraTerm is open source, so you're not going to get professional support for this product. If you're not tech-savvy, or if your business depends on TeraTerm working correctly, then you may want to consider a paid solution that offers support.

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

If you need a quick, free solution, then TeraTerm is a good option. If you're not very technical, then I recommend using a program that offers more hands-on help and Support.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use TeraTerm to control the firmware on a device my company manufactures. This allows me and my team to conduct special testing from our computers, without interfacing directly with the device. Controlling the device via TeraTerm also allows us to get feedback/logs from the device that we otherwise wouldn't be able to get from the device's LCD interface. Another major benefit to using TeraTerm is that it's free, so we don't have to worry about getting paid license when we add people to the team.

  ### 16. Easy to setup and use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

Setup is quiet easy and you can always save it and it will start with the saved settings. Comes handy when running automation scripts.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

Sometimes does not interact well with scripts used for automation.

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

Its just to use. I will not recommend any changes

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All the products have serial output which is quite helpful when debugging the product.

  ### 17. Great tool!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2019

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

Ability to create scripts, ease of use, a lot of configuration and customization options. This tool is very powerful.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

Nothing that I can think of. I prefer this tool compared to its competitors.

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

Very powerful tool.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's very helpful if you want to copy and paste huge data to the terminal.

  ### 18. Easy and flexible

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard P. | Senior Network Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2018

**What do you like best about TeraTerm?**

TeraTerm can be as complete as you like. You can build a list of connections to save or just enter your information each time you connect. It also includes connecting via serial - more tools of this nature are offering that now, but for a while it was hard to find. TeraTerm has always worked reliably and offers the features that most people need.

**What do you dislike about TeraTerm?**

It would be nice to have a tabbed interface to open multiple things at once.

**Recommendations to others considering TeraTerm:**

Great tool for what it does.

**What problems is TeraTerm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Remote connectivity to network devices.
