Cumbersome and difficult to use. **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Chris L. | C, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2020 **What do you like best about Mileposts?** I like that the data is stored and accessible to multiple users at multiple locations. **What do you dislike about Mileposts?** I come from a technology background and have experience using several data management systems and even creating DMSs for my schools. I have to say that Mileposts is very difficult, confusing, and extremely time-consuming to use. The reason to have a data-tracking system is for teachers to be able to target instruction to meet the needs of students, but this is so difficult to use that it defeats the purpose. It takes so long to create any plan, progress monitor, or intervention at the beginning that it is ridiculous. Then to enter the progress monitoring data takes much more time than is necessary. I find myself not updating the plans and interventions because it takes hours every time I do. A change that would be simple in any other system could mean staying at school until 7:00 or 8:00 every night with Mileposts. Then finding the data that you need when you're looking for it is so difficult and time-consuming that it is easier more efficient to use paper, or a stone tablet and chisel for that matter. It is just too outdated and time-consuming for someone like myself to recommend. **Recommendations to others considering Mileposts:** Look at other options even if the cost is higher! Milepost is not worth it!!! **What problems is Mileposts solving and how is that benefiting you?** Coming from a well-organized district to a new district that uses Mileposts I have found that it has created more problems than it has solved. I have not realized any benefits from it at all. ### 2. My district bought the service but I haven't used it yet due to lack of time. **What do you dislike about Mileposts?** We had training on it before students began and none of our classes were loaded on the program. I can now see (at the end of Q1) that my students are loaded for the most part. I like that I can see assessment results but there is nothing loaded for discipline. I've had students that have received disciplinary notices but there is no data. **Recommendations to others considering Mileposts:** We need to have additional opportunities to use the product. This is also a bad time to introduce another new program as we are working under expired language and the district is purchasing another costly service without recognizing that staff members are required to do more with more students, less support and less pay. **What problems is Mileposts solving and how is that benefiting you?** N/A ### 3. A better repository for this info than powerschool, generally. **What do you dislike about Mileposts?** I think it contains so many features that it is difficult to intuitively use the product. If my school did not provide training I wouldn't know how to use it at all, and there is so much more in the system than what I use. I think my biggest complaint is that I use this, Powerschool, and Moodle on a near-daily basis. It would be nice if we could eliminate one of them.
