I really like the clean and modern design of the desktop application and the intuitive, well-organized dashboard. The interface is visually appealing and makes it easy to track working hours and review productivity statistics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The biggest drawback for me is the lack of Wayland support on Linux. I use Ubuntu, where Wayland provides a much smoother and more stable experience. Unfortunately, Insightful requires an Xorg (X11) session to track working hours and activity.
Because of this, I have to switch to Xorg, where I frequently experience graphics driver crashes and compatibility issues with other applications. This negatively affects my productivity and overall system stability.
I contacted Insightful's support team about this issue. They responded quickly and professionally, explaining the technical limitations and confirming that Wayland support is being worked on, although there is no estimated release date yet.
I would really appreciate native Wayland support in a future update, as it would significantly improve the experience for Linux users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Hi Artem,
Thanks for such a thorough review!
It’s good to hear the desktop app and dashboard feel clean and easy to find your way around, and that your hours across projects now sit in one clear record.
Wayland support is in the works, as our team mentioned, though we can’t give a date yet. Switching sessions just to track your time isn’t how anyone wants to start the day, so we understand why you’re keen to see it.
The quick, professional answer you got is to our support team’s credit, and they’ll be pleased you noticed.
Until then, we’re here whenever something needs a look.
Best regards,
The Insightful Team
