What is iMIS, and what problem is it built to solve?

iMIS is software for association and nonprofit management. It is intended to support organizations managing their association or nonprofit operations.

What languages does iMIS support?

iMIS supports 5 languages: Dutch, English, French, German, and Spanish.

What company sizes and industries is iMIS the best fit for?

iMIS appears most often in smaller organizations, particularly nonprofits, among users reporting positive experiences. The strongest fit signals cluster around these segments:
  • Organization size: Small businesses with 50 or fewer employees are most represented; mid-market organizations also appear.
  • Industry: Nonprofit organization management is the clearest industry cluster, with additional representation from healthcare, education, construction, and government-related organizations.

How long does it take to implement iMIS across a team?

Implementation most commonly takes 3–6 months. The actual timeline depends on how much data migration, configuration, and customization the organization needs.

What customer support options does iMIS provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

iMIS provides phone, email/help desk, and chat support, alongside self-service resources. The support experience is often described as helpful and knowledgeable, though users also report that responses or issue resolution can sometimes take longer than they would like.

What is the experience like for teams switching to iMIS from another tool?

Switching to iMIS has often meant moving from systems with limited functionality, inflexible workflows, or fragmented data to a more customizable platform that brings membership information and related operations together. Users moving from tools such as Personify, MemberClicks, Association Online, and other association systems describe improvements in reporting, integration, and the ability to tailor processes, while noting that setup and learning the broader system can take considerable effort.

What tools and platforms does iMIS integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

iMIS offers 13 integrations. Users describe connected systems as a way to link member data with other services and reduce manual handoffs.
  • Learning platforms: D2L Brightspace, HigherL LMS, and Path LMS.
  • Communications: ClickSend and Intuit Mailchimp Email Marketing.
  • Events and webinars: EventsAir and Zoom Events and Webinars.
  • Association, community, and member services: Causeis, Clowder, Higher Logic Thrive, IDMS, and OpenWater Application and Review Cloud.
  • Accounting: Sage 200cloud.
These connections can help keep information moving between membership, learning, communications, event, and finance workflows, reducing the need for separate manual updates.

What features or capabilities could make iMIS even more useful?

iMIS could be more useful with clearer, easier-to-learn reporting and query tools, along with a more approachable interface. Recurring improvement areas include:
  • Reporting and data discovery: Make complex queries easier to build and understand, with clearer documentation of data fields and business objects.
  • Usability: Simplify navigation and configuration so routine tasks are easier for staff without technical expertise.
  • Events: Improve event workflows and reporting, including more flexible exhibitor, sponsor, and registration support.
  • Email and communications: Make it easier to reuse email templates and schedule bulk messages.

"Flexible Dashboards, Easy Integrations, and Top-Notch Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

The ability to quickly create IQA's to analyze data and change them on the fly to look at data in many different ways. The ability to manage our associations membership. To be able to modify and make the dashboards unique to our association. We have been able to integrate with outside products easily and the support has been absolutely top notch as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMIS?

There are no data maps of the BO's and I tend to spend inordinate amount of time trying to figure out where the fields are that I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"18 years of solid service and steady improvement"
5/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

I have worked with IMIS for 18 years across 5 organizations and now as a project manager helping clients implement iMIS in their organizations. For 18 years, I have seen a product grow and adapt to changes in tech and business, always striving for excellence, and often reaching it. No software will ever be perfect, but IMIS provides a way to move toward that goal for many organizations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMIS?

I wish a couple of the areas in iMIS reflected the quality of the rest better (e.g. Communities is really really bad, the lack of good sponsor/vendor/exposition features in Events) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All-in-One Integrated Platform That’s Easy to Customize"
4/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

It's an all in one website, member database and event system that is totally integrated. If you have the understanding of basic HTML and/or SQL it is also easy to manipulate the data on the website or within the database saving a lot of time. If you don't understand this, it is easy to pick up with a bit of training too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMIS?

The advanced marketing module doesn't allow a preset time to send bulk emails. Someone physically has to push a button to send an email at a certain time.

iMIS online support is great but there should be a phone option for when someone wants to actually talk an issue through quickly. Going backward and forwards via email slows down the help when things go wrong. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"iMIS is great!"
4/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

I like the upgrades that have happened, and the ease in which it can integrate with other services such as MailChimp and GoCardless etc, and stores very important information and allows MFA set up for when you are trying to set up Cyber essentials for your company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMIS?

The only downside at the moment, which may be more reflective of the times that we are in, is the costs. It is quite expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Holt of iMIS

"Integrations, Quality Website and Tailored Insights with IMIS"
4/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

I like the ability for our systems to be integrated through IMIS, including our website and accessiBe feature, CRM, learning platform and app - which allows us to offer single sign on for members, tailored content and platforms and, if needed, custom solutions that bring our ideas into tangible form.

What's also helpful is the ability for us to gain insight into our members and contacts via IMIS queries. This ensures we have access to data on membership, unique profile attributes (such as profession or location), income and more, supporting our understanding of how we're tracking as a professional association, who we can tailor our communications to through IMIS and where our future opportunities lie. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMIS?

The least helpful aspects of using IMIS I've found are:

1. Having to use a fresh email template each time I prepare a communication, rather than being able to use a previously sent email and have it received by recipients without formatting issues. (This is very time consuming if we want to simply adjust the content of a previously sent email for our next communication.)

2. The complexity of IQAs - while they're fabulous for tailored searches, offering insights and giving us a custom audience to send emails to, the complexity and miriad of ways to put the IQAs together is quite overwhelming when trying to develop a good understanding and be able to use them with proficiency.

3. When a website content item is updated and published, having to click refresh multiple times so the item publishes fully is frustrating. It would be great if clicking 'save and publish' made the item automatically publish then and there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Holt of iMIS

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review! We're thrilled to hear that iMIS is helping you create a more connected member experience through integrations, single sign-on, and data-driven insights, while supporting your website and community initiatives. We also appreciate your thoughtful feedback on email templates, IQAs, and publishing workflows. Input like yours helps guide our future improvements!

"Interconnected and Customizable Automation, with Room to Grow"
3/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

I like how interconnected everything is. The ability to automate processes and customize certain pages and queries is helpful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMIS?

While some things can be automated there are certain things that still feel manual. For instance, making small changes like renaming a community can require you to make all these manual changes. I also think that some of the business objects are not built well. For instance, to be able to report on who was a speaker at a specific event we had a customize a property in the business object.

I also think the manage duplicates section could use some improvements. The filters are either way to vauge or way to specific. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Holt of iMIS

We love hearing that iMIS’s interconnected features and automation capabilities are helping your team save time and make better use of your data! Your detailed feedback on business objects, duplicate management, and processes that still require manual work is incredibly helpful as we continue to enhance the platform. Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful insights about your experience with iMIS!

"Simple, Intuitive, and Easy to use Assn Management System"
5/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

It's simple to use, very intuitive, fully meets our charity's needs, and is easy to extend with other software systems, like building with Lego using the API and SSO Tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMIS?

The website builder is a little old-fashioned and has some limitations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Holt of iMIS

Thank you for the thoughtful review, Stephen! We're thrilled iMIS is proving simple, intuitive, and flexible enough to support your 250,000 users alongside course bookings and sales. That "building with Lego" comparison made our day. We hear you on the website builder, and we appreciate the feedback as we continue improving it!

5/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

We’ve had a positive experience using iMIS as our association management system. It offers a wide range of features that help us manage membership, streamline administrative tasks, and support our day-to-day operations. The ability to manage member information, process payments, run reports, and maintain our database in one centralized platform is especially valuable. "Robust Reporting but Challenging Setup and Usability"
4/5
What do you like best about iMIS?

I really like the report section of iMIS. It's very detailed in how it can be run and edited. I also like the user profile sections and the security settings, which help in resetting usernames or passwords. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMIS?

I think the Rise section could be a little bit more user-friendly. Building IQAs is very difficult, and changing things with the page builder is sometimes really complicated. There could be more user-friendly aspects. The initial setup was pretty intense and difficult, taking several months for data migration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Holt of iMIS

Thank you for updating your review, Laura! We're glad to hear that iMIS's reporting capabilities, user profiles, and security features are helping you effectively manage your membership database and reporting needs. We also appreciate your candid feedback about Rise, IQAs, page building, and the implementation experience, and we'll share it with our team as we continue improving usability. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience!
