The chatbot feature is a really useful tool that we have recently implemented. Customers asking questions or new potential prospects can chat with us and our team gets notified directly about an incoming message. I have referred and converted a few leads using this feature. Specifically our whitepaper management inbound leads are extremely effective. I like how I get notified instantly when someone downloads something and it comes in via email with all the necessary information needed for me to know what to do next with my prospecting. I have been able to convert a lot of qualified opportunities through out whitepaper outreach. Overall, a Hubspot email is easily recognizable and excites the business development reps when we get an email come in. I can always associate a hubspot email with the opportunity for potential new business to come in and be one step closer to achieving our monthly quota. Across our busines development team, Hubspot has a good reputation. **What do you dislike about Hubot?** Website visit views all come at one time and they are often inaccurate. I simply turn off those notifications now. The chatbot feature is a little confusing on determining how to allocate the lead into the appropriate territory representative. **Recommendations to others considering Hubot:** Take advantage of the support team to full uncover Hubspot's full potential, such as the chabot feature. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our Inbound marketing efforts are extremely productive. Being able to keep track and have one portal for all of our admin and inbound inquiry needs makes it seamless to adopt across the teams. Overall just having a more holistic platform for our marketing efforts gives us the confidence and results we seek. ### 2. The architecture is easy to understand and we found Hubot to be a very valuable tool in developing prototypes and proof of concepts quickly. Pre packaged adapters worked out of the box as advertised and abstract away the APIs of the messaging services. **What do you dislike about Hubot?** The hubot plugins and examples contain a lot of coffeescript, a language that I personally dislike, and as late 2018 its adoption is not as widespread as it used to be. **Recommendations to others considering Hubot:** I reccomend hubot to anybody which needs to get a quick start in chatbot implementation. Be aware of coffescript. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was able to build a proof of concept chatbot integrated with wit.ai which was presented at the codemotion 2017 conference in Milan as a "getting started" talk. I have been able to put together a tutorial and a sample application in my spare time at work, which is not a lot, and without Hubot that would have been impossibile. ### 3. Or you can dig in deeper and build out your own scripts. This is what you'd most likely eventually get to. Comes with easy to read documentation. **What do you dislike about Hubot?** Honestly, it's done exactly what I've needed it to do. I don't have many complaints with it and neither does the rest of my team/customers that are using it. **Recommendations to others considering Hubot:** Use their support when needed. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** Support. Fewer issues get to live support, and you don't feel like you're ruining customer experience either. We can also use this in-house, which instantly shows us an ROI on the purchase. ### 4. My job at Pantheon (as well as my team's) required us to review a customer's dashboard- which gave us visibility into their portfolio of sites. Hubot's simplistic requests "Site me" and "Org me" made it quick and easy to access this data **What do you dislike about Hubot?** Not much to dislike. I just wish I knew how to apply it to other things. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** When there are gaps in your CRM data, especially those that give you access to your own product, Hubot makes is easy to find them and fill them. ### 5. Plus is integrates with almost all the top platforms. **What do you dislike about Hubot?** Reports are limited. For detailed report you need to buy another product or Add-on from Hubspot. **Recommendations to others considering Hubot:** Great product. Truly value for money and if you use it right, it makes your job lot easier. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it to send our emails to our customers and make sure we don't over send messaging. Helps making sure emails are responsive and personalized and it let us define what happen when someone opens email or when someone does not open email. ### 9. If you host within your own infrastructure the sky is the limit. **What do you dislike about Hubot?** Initial setup can be tricky with all the tokens to generate. If you are behind a firewall you cannot use the web hook functionality without poking a hole or setting up some sort of repeater. **Recommendations to others considering Hubot:** Read the plugins, install within your own infrastructure, use promises. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** I can ask hubot where an application lives within our infrastructure, I can ask hubot to kick off deploys, check on status, and a variety of other things. This allows me to not leave slack, or provide artifacts for others to debug issues. ### 12. One for our company's internal Slack server, and two more for small online communities I manage. The number of community-developed (and tested) integration points for Hubot, and the ease of writing customized plugins, makes it an invaluable team automation tool. **What do you dislike about Hubot?** Connecting Hubot to multiple "adapters" — services like Slack, IRC, and so on — is pretty much impossible. Choose the realtime service your team will use for communication, and connect Hubot to it. If you really have to bridge multiple realtime communication services, Hubot's just not up to it. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've wired out bot up for everything from realtime PTO/OOO tracking to project update notifications. Hubot isn't about a single killer feature — it's a tool for quickly smoothing out the rough edges of a team's communication. For distributed teams, it's especially useful. ### 14. Hubot has a plethora of plugins available for use. CoffeScript over Node.JS makes for easy plugins to be written for anything that doesn't already exist. **What do you dislike about Hubot?** This is a developers toy. Day-to-day business users wont be able to set up hubot for doing much of anything without the help of a sysadmin. There's a steep hill to climb for initial setup. **Recommendations to others considering Hubot:** Be ready to invest some setup time and energy into the initial setup. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've tied together our custom in-house software to our slack chat to allow for faster access to small pieces of info as needed. ### 15. Extensible to chatrooms outside of basecamp (creators). **What do you dislike about Hubot?** It's demise and inevitable replacement by the 100s of slackbots and hosted products. **Recommendations to others considering Hubot:** You're probably able to find a premade bot or just use slackbot. If you have a very niche need you could probably still use hubot to serve your script. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** I customized hubot to support team morale, collect standup info, and set team members reminders. ### 16. Being able to develop and deploy your own bot tasks for Slack was great. Another major thing is the infinite scripts developed by the community **What do you dislike about Hubot?** The only thing I dislike about Hubot is the language, being forced to use CoffeScript is not cool. It would be good to be able to write vanilla JS to create scripts. **Recommendations to others considering Hubot:** Go and try to use Hubot with community scripts, but try to create your own scripts its a really fun task and you can automate a lot of things with just a little bit of code. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used Hubot to automate some deploy and CI tasks. ### 17. We've found that it's pretty easy to go from idea to working script that helps us automate whats important. **What do you dislike about Hubot?** Not as easy for non-developers. Although scripts don't have to be written in coffescript, most of them are. **What problems is Hubot solving and how is that benefiting you?** You can never underestimate the value of automation. Humans make mistakes but you automate the one thing thats important it could mean less downtime in the future. Hubot helps us accomplish this. ### 18.
