Anybody can start usingg HappyScribe with a minimum balance in his/her accout, "pay-as-go" model. Particularly in my case, it transcribes Tamil texts almost 65 - 75% accuracy. Rest of the things I do it manually in HT (Human Translation) mode and complete the transcription. Other features are similar to other tools like Speak.ai and Descript etc.

Since 2020, I've assisted with about 4-5 virtual church conferences. For each one, we provide attendees a digital pass after the conference ends, which includes all of the session recordings. Our denomination has sister churches all over the world, and we needed an inexpensive option to create subtitles in other languages for members in other countries. Many other options have rates of $2+ per minute, but HappyScribe gave us a much more affordable option! You pay based on the "bucket" of minutes you purchase...the more you purchase, the less your per-hour rate is! HappyScribe has done a fantastic job in providing us with AI-generated subtitles each time, which our volunteers then review and clean up before we use Happy Scribe again to run through and create subtitles in Spanish, French, etc. The AI software does a fabulous job generating subtitles in these additional languages!

In the years since I've started using the software I've also noticed a marked improvement in their speech recognition software. Less editing is needed now than in 2020, and also the tools within the editing dashboard have gotten more refined.

Although I don't use this, Happy Scribe does also offer options to have your subtitles edited by humans, if that's what you need. Additionally, the software can recognize not just English speech but also several other languages as well. I've had limited use of the Spanish subtitles in AI, but what I've seen has been positive.

The only hiccup I've had in Happy Scribe has been the speech recognition with regards to Bible verses and occasionally people's names. This is a very specific concern for me as our conferences are all Christian in nature, and therefore usually reference several scriptures in each session. For example, Luke 2:1-4 might be picked up as "Luke two one through four". And of course people's names can be hit or miss, but sometimes that can't be helped, especially if the name is a less common one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's as easy as uploading an audio file and waiting a minute. Then, you just have to fix that 10% that couldn't be transcribed automatically. Additionally, it's possible to play the audio while you correct the text, which makes the job much easier. It also allows you to hire someone to thoroughly review your text. The "add vocabulary" option is not working well for me, and there are certain (small) errors that repeat in most of the transcriptions of my podcast. Other than that, I am very happy with this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
