I do not have any specific dislikes, but potential clients need to prepare themselves for what a deep dive into their data will mean. We're an organization built on data and analytics. As a legacy, portfolio-driven organization, our products are very siloed and one-note. We know in a modern era, we have to be able to serve a wide variety of customers, harnessing all of our data assets and be able to be responsive. It isn't about one project but a complete roadmap of trials, errors and bringing forth a new means to measure investment portfolio management, global fund flows, FX, credit, and more. Being the penultimate provider of institutional finance data and insights requires us to stay at the forefront of what's capable. Hakkoda, as a partner, can take an agile, sprint-based approach to help us quickly identify, test, and move forward along our roadmap to digitize, modernize and fully realize the value of our assets on hand. What do you like best about Hakkoda?

I can readily scale resources to match today's and tomorrow's needs and not lose any expertise or oversight of excellence. If I need data engineers today, infosec architects tomorrow, and AI/ML engineers the quarter after, I can work with my engagement managers to swap and scale resources at a predictable cost model. What do you dislike about Hakkoda?

The price gap between the US-based resources and Costa Rican resources is noticeable (which makes perfect sense). There are some cases where we might require US-based resources for regulatory or compliance reasons, and if there were a way to keep that within the same ballpark as the Costa Rican resources, that would be great. Recommendations to others considering Hakkoda:

Hakkoda doesn't come off as a "body shop" or "just another" consultancy. Their ability to focus less on projects, hours, and people and more on solutions that fit and enable your long-term roadmap is different from most consultancies and providers in the market. What problems is Hakkoda solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have a hefty technology presence both in the form of FTEs and subcontractors. They tend to spin their wheels just keeping the lights on with our day-to-day operations. Hakkoda can help me control my budget but move the ball forward regarding innovations, data modernization principles, new product ideas, and allowing my analysts to spend more time analyzing.
