This was our fourth SOC 2 audit but our first with Insight Assurance, and the communication was the standout. Our main contact kept us updated on the timeline regularly, and the shared Slack channel meant we could get quick answers without waiting on email. They also stayed responsive throughout the year for ad-hoc questions outside the audit window. The team worked primarily within Vanta rather than asking us to duplicate evidence elsewhere, and their SOC 2 system description template saved us a lot of drafting time. Slack worked well for general communication, but custom evidence requests also came through there rather than into Vanta, and we had to ask a few times for them to be logged in the platform. Vanta is where we assign requests to team members and keep the record for future audits, so having everything tracked there matters to us. Minor point in the context of an otherwise well run audit. Agree up front that all evidence requests go into your compliance platform rather than chat, which avoids chasing later. If you are switching auditors, budget time at the start to bring them up to speed on your architecture. Ask for their SOC 2 system description template early, it is a genuinely useful starting point. We need a SOC 2 Type II report to satisfy customer security reviews, and the risk with switching auditors is losing the efficiency you have built up over previous cycles. That did not happen here. As with any ISO-related audit process, some parts can naturally feel a bit formal and documentation-heavy, but that is more due to the nature of ISO standards than Insight Assurance themselves. Certification Journey Made Easy The SOC 2 Type 2 audit process was executed with clear structure and guidance. We were provided comprehensive timeline and the Auditor accommodated all our time zone meeting requests with ease. Clear Communication and Support: Insight Assurance provided excellent project management, including timely debriefs and findings, and follow-up items. They provided quick communication and support for questions regarding audit requirements, such as clarifying acceptable evidence formats. Expert and Professional Auditors: The auditors were consistently professional, responsive, and thorough, which contributed significantly to a smooth and efficient audit. The audit identified control gaps and exceptions, which allowed us to successfully remediate all findings without any major issues. I appreciate their high level of care, clear timelines, and constant follow-up, especially Mollie's helpfulness in our compliance journey. That made evidence tracking and back-and-forth far easier on our side. Mollie, our Customer Success Lead, was proactive and kept us well informed at every stage.
