## ESPRIT Reviews
  ### 1. Best Support Team I Have Ever Worked With

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giovanni L. | Applications Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021

**What do you like best about ESPRIT?**

What I like the most about Esprit is its support team. I can email them, and within minutes I will get a response from one of their Applications Engineers trying to assist me.

**What do you dislike about ESPRIT?**

What I dislike about Esprit is its lack of tool holders for machines that they support. With more complex swiss machines, there are attachments that one can put in and take out, yet Esprit does not seem to support all of my manufacturer's tool holders.

**What problems is ESPRIT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anytime I need to program a part for a customer, to help show that our machines are capable of making what they need, Esprit has been able to resolve that with the program and any support assistance.

  ### 2. Good general use CAM

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven E. | Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2020

**What do you like best about ESPRIT?**

Esprit can program the most complex mill-turn machines with complete machine simulation. The output NC code can be predictable. Machine simulation will catch most programming miss-steps in tight machines. Wire EDM programming is almost effortless.

**What do you dislike about ESPRIT?**

Some tool path calculations can be exceedingly long & are reliant to the whole process. Making a quick change can result in hours of recalculating time for features that shouldn't change. Everything is feature based. You have to convert model geometry to a feature in order to apply a tool path. Tools need to be defined & oriented in the machine layout long before considering a cutting strategy. Post processor is quite complicated for complex machines, but can be nice for simple machines.

**What problems is ESPRIT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to program a complex mill-turn machine without bumping into any of the actual machine parts.

  ### 3. Good for old computers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** FIRAT O. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2020

**What do you like best about ESPRIT?**

His speed and capability of course. This program is very fast if you compare with the others. His functions are limited than others but with same functions I can completely say that this program is faster.

**What do you dislike about ESPRIT?**

Interface. Even if you work with better at old fashioned computers you could improve your interface a little bit more. We're living in second decade of 2000s so it would be better.

**Recommendations to others considering ESPRIT:**

We just tried while we were student. That wasn't long time ago only few weeks but it was satisfying. I can't say anything about price because we were trying it. We didn't buy.

**What problems is ESPRIT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Just tried our old computer if it can run any of CAM program or not.

  ### 4. Returning User

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2019

**What do you like best about ESPRIT?**

The post processor features make or break the usability of the CAM software. In this case we are using a new Mitsubishi Wire EDM, and my limited experience with this machine and Esprit is that there are many options that are accessible with a click of the mouse.

**What do you dislike about ESPRIT?**

Esprit uses a series of tab pages to select and turn off and on and adjust values for programming tool path. For the machine we use there are a lot of options, and initially the decriptions are very cryptic. It takes several iterations to accomplish the desired program. Don't know if this could be done differently but it is one of the more difficult aspects of learning the software.

**Recommendations to others considering ESPRIT:**

Get Support Package for first year and use it to help learn all you can. Things usually do not change much after this in terms of software features unless you add a different machine, so support is less important to most companies after the first year.

**What problems is ESPRIT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Esprit exclusively for programming wire EDM cutting path for Mitsubishi and Charmilles wire EDM. We could program them with other, less productive methods, but it does not make economic sense to do this.

  ### 5. If you're into EDM

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roy M. | Engineering Manager, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2018

**What do you like best about ESPRIT?**

No I don't mean electronic Dance music. 4 axis programming is now so easy thanks to it's feature recognition. The older versions made you think and work. Now most of my guys can use all features :)

**What do you dislike about ESPRIT?**

Electronic Dance Music. Well EDM acronym is much older and means Electric Discharge Machining. There's not much to discredit Esprit as it's easy once you know the icons. My criticism is that STEP import is an expensive addon. So instead of buying this we put the cost toward SolidWorks and this made all the difference. So not only can we make tool paths but we can now solid model. Well I say now we were able before but managed to upgrade from 1997 to 2017 and beyond. Doesn't take a genius to see that we've exponentially increased our skills

**Recommendations to others considering ESPRIT:**

Make sure you get the full training package as this product is fully featured and 4 axis programming is easy once you've had either the experience, training or both :)

**What problems is ESPRIT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we've used Esprit since 1994, so it should come as no surprise to hear we're still using it today. Gear programming is a dream. It asks you 3 basic questions to generate a gear then fill in the finer detail and voila! an involute accurate to a few microns.

  ### 6. Powerful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2019

**What do you like best about ESPRIT?**

Simple navigation and accurate code posting. The icons are very user friendly and easy to memorize.

**What do you dislike about ESPRIT?**

Maintenance contracts. The prices for yearly maintenance contracts which includes software and hardware support and upgrades is far too expensive. Even if your maintenance contract expires I would think there would be support available for your current version but that is not the case. If for example you need support in transferring the software to a new computer or develop a problem with the software they are very reluctant to help.

**Recommendations to others considering ESPRIT:**

Test Drive.

**What problems is ESPRIT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No job challenge insurmountable (so far).
