"Egnyte Review – Reliable, Secure, and Built for Business"
What do you like best about Egnyte?

Egnyte is a powerful and versatile platform for secure file storage, sharing, and collaboration. Its hybrid cloud capabilities make it especially valuable for organizations with both on-premise and remote work needs, allowing seamless access to files without sacrificing speed or security. The interface is clean and intuitive, making it easy for end users to navigate, while IT teams benefit from granular permission controls, robust auditing, and strong compliance features (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).

Performance is strong for both local and remote access, and integration with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other third-party apps is smooth. Mobile access is also reliable, enabling productivity on the go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Egnyte?

Slightly higher learning curve for admins.

In my industry linked files from local servers need to be relinked

Pricing may be steep for very small teams(I recommend you have 25+ end users before considering) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Egnyte Holding Customer Data Hostage for $1,285—A Cautionary Tale for MSPs"
What do you like best about Egnyte?

Egnyte’s support staff have consistently been professional, knowledgeable, and easy to communicate with. I appreciated being able to speak with someone fluent in English who understood technical issues without requiring multiple handoffs. That part was a plus.

Ease of use was decent, but not anything special. I can get the same with Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Egnyte?

Where do I begin? The biggest issue came when I needed short-term access to a single account for one of my customers. Egnyte refused, unless we paid for an entire year of service—$1,285.92—just to get two hours of access. That’s not flexibility, that’s extortion. We offered to pay a reasonable fee for limited access, but Egnyte wouldn’t budge.

Another major frustration: there is no free or included admin account. You must burn a paid license for even the most basic administrative access. As an MSP managing accounts for clients, this is a serious limitation.

Ease of Implementation and Inegration: Not terrific. I had to touch each user's computer to get the Egnyte client installed. Also, the client is unstable, but to be fair, the OneDrive client isn't very stable either.

Recommendations to others considering Egnyte:

If you're a managed service provider or you value fair business practices, think carefully. There are other platforms out there with more flexible policies and pricing that don't hold your data hostage. Dropbox is excellent and you can get a BAA. Same goes for OneDrive.
