Integration through custom made Powerapps possible
Other Microsoft ecosystem apps can be connected to Field Service
Not tied to one partner--> everyone who can work with Microsoft can create apps/do bugfixing for us
Depending on the app created the user friendliness varies.

**What do you dislike about Dynamics 365 Field Service?**

Doesn't match our way of operating (we use shifts, whereas Field service works with hours/minutes)
Hardly any customization within Field Service which results in the core view not giving the relevant information for the planner
Random bugs (maybe because of the powerapps used) --> out of memory, new logins required
All processes take multiple seconds (10-20 seconds)
No keyboard shortcuts

Problem: Disconnected Service Operations - it provides all in one, scheduling, track tech, manage assets, manage invoices

**What do you like best about Dynamics 365 Field Service?**

Dynamics 365 Field Server (FS) allows for very flexible deployment of service contracts, having all of the features of the D365 CRM solution, with FS concepts like agreements, work orders, tasks, etc., built in. Like all of D365, most "core" entities like tasks, accounts, users, teams, etc., can be flexibly associated to each other, and work flows built around that.

Also, as a data analysis lead, having the built-in and user-configured possible associations among entities makes automating and converting the data into a more traditional relational structure much easier than having to manually code the ETL.

The metadata tables describing possible statuses, substatuses and associations with entities are very systematic-even reporting the ROLE of each side of an association. If you wanted, you could entirely automate a graph database ETL just from careful intake of the metadata tables (which would eliminate the problem reported in the "dislike" section that many entities have over 100 (mostly unused in most implementations) fields that are null if unused.

**What do you dislike about Dynamics 365 Field Service?**

The thing that makes D365 FS (and D365 in general)  is that the underlying data model is extremely hard to manage outside of the tools offered by Microsoft. It takes quite an effort to set up data duplication into a database accessible via traditional SQL (even SQL Server). Once the data is there, you are confronted with each entity having EVERY POSSIBLE field that could be used. Core entities like "account", "contact", "task", etc. have over 100 fields each. The column order is seemingly random: user-configured fields are shuffled among the built-ins. Luckily the API-available metadata is available - allowing the construction of automated conversion tools to make the extracted data contain only fields in use - sorted in a manner that is more manageable.

The above comment is applicable to ALL D365 solutions, not just FS. FS has two key concepts that are missing, which seem like they would be part of any CRM->FS solution:

1. Lack of a concept of a unified account "status" or "pipeline": in D365. "leads" which are closed create "opportunities", which in FS turn into "agreements" to which one or more "work orders" can be associated. There is not a unified place, other than back links to the previous step, to understand at what date a particular agreeement for an account (either of which may not be created until after the lead is closed)  was a lead, when the lead closed and created an opportunity, which then turned into an agreement, etc. If you want to build a pipeline report (even in the built-in GUI, but also in SQL) you have to manually create joins that follow the links. It is also possible for the front end to create entities later in the process without the previous step (an agreement may exist without an opportunity which created it, for example). When used to understand close rates, cost of customer/account acquisition, lifetime value of a customer, etc., it is super challenging.
2. The FS-specific entities "agreement" and "work order" were, I believe, implemented initially by another solutions provider then purchased and added in. (They are named "msdyn_account" and "msdyn_workorder - that previx convention applies also to new entities/fields added by implementers). Thus, the "status/substatus" of these two entities are handled very differently - in all other D365 built ins, there are two metadata fields denoting entity "status": current/active, inactive, etc. and "substatus": "new", "open", "wip", "closed", etc. In agreements and workorders, those fields exist, but the actual user-configurable fields that denote the same meaning are in additional entity tables with GUIDs for keys instead of integers. 

It's another thing to work around.

These two, and the absolute requirement common to all configuration or no/low code implementation environments to work within the paradigm of the tool rather than imposing your process onto it are probably the hardest things to overcome.

That being said, the fact you can DIRECTLY query for all legal associations among entities and statuses in the metadata tables makes this a tractable problem.

Dynamic 365 is a great program. The modules are easy to decipher, and as long as our team members enter good substantial information, the program does a great job of providing valuable reports.

**What do you dislike about Dynamics 365 Field Service?**

The only dislike was our information in the "cloud." It just raises too many security concerns for some members. Even though the security is top notch, there is a massive amount of features that a user has to contend with, and it just makes it tiresome.

**Recommendations to others considering Dynamics 365 Field Service:**

Dynamics 365 is a good program, and there are several ways to learn how to utilize the program effectively. It was pretty helpful to have the instructional videos and e-Learning available.

**What problems is Dynamics 365 Field Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our main goal was to improve our CRM application for our sales team, which was not so robust that it made the work too much. The most significant benefit is the full integration with other Microsoft products; this is ideal, primarily when so many team members work remotely. We are reviewing the use of this program again and will make another determination if it works for our team.

The capabilities to be on the same page with customer service and distribution during this crazy time have made the process a little bit easier. We can easily evaluate supply problems and quicky come up with solutions to react a lot quicker.

The service is very complex and difficult to understand at first but it takes time to figure the system out. The layout and organization is can be simpler to input information, numbers and data into spreadsheets

With this system, it is easier to assign technicians and maintenance personnel to homes that need to be fixed. In addition, we are able to assign work orders to 3rd party companies that our team can not handle directly.

There are endless dynamics to this software, they have thought of almost anything you could require. It integrates into Outlook seamlessly. Different apps are available for download. The integration of software allowing you to show data as well as coordination. Enables you to productively communicate the here and now with colleagues regarding customers with all conceivable information on it. Virtually accessible from anywhere. It is capable of handling and logging all inbound, outbound correspondence and call logs. You can import and fare data easily to any source required. The supportive part about this item is that is extremely organized and easy to utilize. It can help with contracts and having everything organized. The easy to use set up at the outset.

**What do you dislike about Dynamics 365 Field Service?**

There are endless pieces to integrate it tends to be unwieldly after some time. The interface can be dubious. Not necessarily easy to navigate. It does not work so well with CITRIX so this can end up being dubious. . Everything is a learning and developing cycle, trial and blunder. The more the item is accessed/utilized, the better the information and experience.

It allows you to avoid twofold section and offers a collaborative platform for clients. As well as the effortlessness to utilize. Really, appreciate them remembering the client with this item. Having the option to update everything simultaneously and see various angles of where individuals are engaging.

There are so many dynamics to this software, they've thought of almost anything you could need. It integrates into Outlook seamlessly. Multiple apps available for download. We use Planner for everything, which allows us to create a planner for each assignment and keep track of all of our data, next steps and files for that assignment in one place. We're all in on the same page without constantly having to ask each other where we're at on an assignment. 

**What do you dislike about Dynamics 365 Field Service?**

The interface can be tricky. Not necessarily easy to navigate. There are a few different hubs that can take you to different areas of the program, but you usually have to go through multiple pages first for some things, or back track, sometimes it can be a hunt. And it's buggy. Right not even though I've updated the names of some planners, the old names are still listed which puts the planners out of order when searching through all of them.

Communication. We can easily communicate with each other about the assignment without having to actually talk to each other and interrupt their workflow. Everything we need is right there in one place.

It can be a little easier for the user to export data from a document to the worksheet youre working on. at the same time there is not much that I dislike regarding this program.

I like that is has fully integrated CRM and PSA that we would otherwise have to spend a lot of time and money integrating them ourselves.I also like that it integrates with Outlook and makes communication super easy.

**What do you dislike about Dynamics 365 Field Service?**

One of the issues we tend to have is immediately after an update where it becomes sluggish or crashes several times. The other challenge is that there is a huge learning curve to really understand Dynamics 365.

**What problems is Dynamics 365 Field Service solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I tend to manage this from the IT side but we set this up for our Sales managers to keep track of sales, goals, and customer service. Our team is spread across the western half of the US so the communication has been beneficial with Dynamics integrating with Outlook.

It is capable of handling and logging all inbound, outbound correspondence and call logs. You can import and export data fluently to any source required. 

**What do you dislike about Dynamics 365 Field Service?**

Unfortunately, it does not work so well with CITRIX so this can prove to be tricky. Everyone uses CITRIX these days and the CRM does tend to lag with it.

Try it. I guarantee it will be worth the cost. For contact centre operations, it really does handle your needs. It is universal, fast, adaptable and is compatible with many other generic CRM solutions.

Productivity is improving tremendously. It can log all our correspondence, calls, faxes etc. You can scan data to it, import and export data to other business sources. It really is a one size fits all solution.

Nothing. There isn't much about the product that I can say I dislike or necessarily hate. Everything is a learning and growing process, trial and error. The more the product is accessed/used, the better the knowledge and experience.

The integration with many different apps and tools makes analytics a breeze. The ability to auto fill lead information and lead scoring help to make communication easier but also saves time by scoring the leads.

I like the convenience of the program. It was easy to set up and came in handy quite often. Also it answered to our problems and simplified planning with clients. At our school, we meet regularly with teachers and this was very effective to plan within the school.

The only downside to this program was that it is slightly costy. After the first year of purchasing this product, I realized I had to set asside a better budget if I were to keep using it.

Make sure to have a budget planned out if the program will be used and repurchased on a yearly bases.

There are so many great and easy ways to run reports on sales and salesperson activity through the program.

We often receive tickets about bugs within the software, I have seen apps crash.  The software use alot of memory and sometimes become unresponsive after being open for a long time.

The layout is visually appealing to my eyes.  For resource planning it is excellent.  It accommodates well business processes and workflow to almost any process that you need to ass to the smallest team to the large and more complex ones.
