"Easy Setup, High Performance SQL"
What do you like best about CrateDB?

I appreciate CrateDB being open-source and how incredibly easy it is to use. Its performance is consistently good, which makes it reliable for my testing with AWS. I also find the SQL compatibility a strong point, enabling familiar and efficient database management. Additionally, the initial setup is a breeze, taking only a few minutes to create an account and set up a database, which I find very convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CrateDB?

I find the lack of comparative information to other database solutions on the market as a limitation. It would be beneficial if CrateDB provided more detailed comparisons, which would help in understanding its unique value propositions relative to other databases. Besides this aspect, I do not currently see any issues with the product itself, though I plan to explore it further to gain a deeper understanding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast SQL Queries with Seamless Data Streaming"
What do you like best about CrateDB?

I like the speed and native SQL interface over structured and semi‑structured data. It builds an index on the fly. It lets you stream data into the cluster, query it instantly with familiar SQL. No need for separate storage or query layers. That blend of performance, simplicity, and flexibility is what makes CrateDB stand out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CrateDB?

I haven’t worked with CrateDB myself, so take this with a grain of salt. Potential downsides may be a limited ecosystem of ready‑made connectors and admin tools and a SQL dialect that may lack advanced analytical functions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile Data Support Perfect for Agentic AI Applications"
What do you like best about CrateDB?

I like the support for multiple data types which could be useful for agentic AI applications that we develop in our startup, to provide real-time data context Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CrateDB?

Some data sources might not be useful for use-cases at our startup presently. But there might be need for it in future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast setup and simple UX"
What do you like best about CrateDB?

The onboarding process to create an account and get a cloud cluster running was very easy and fast. I also like how they use Postgresql under the hood so you dont have to learn a new language. Integratio via javascript and python with sqlalchemy makes it easy to test and deploy production applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CrateDB?

The Admin dashboard's UI can be improved. Also, there is currently no way to control the database sharding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"CrateDB offers an excellent balance between SQL simplicity and the power of NoSQL scalability"
What do you like best about CrateDB?

What I find most valuable about CrateDB is its ability to handle massive datasets with impressive speed and efficiency. It seamlessly combines the ease of SQL with the scalability of NoSQL, making it perfect for real-time data analysis in scenarios like IoT or machine data projects. CrateDB’s flexibility to store and query structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, along with its high scalability and real-time processing capabilities, make it an excellent choice for applications needing fast, reliable, and scalable database solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CrateDB?

The project is still so young that still no real world stress test have been conducted on it. It takes some time for companies to migrate from their comfort zone on their heart of the system, database, to a new system. As a result, we still have to wait and see what happens. Also, some featuers such as a good extension system and implementation of basic algorithms like Approximate Nearest Neighbors are missing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"CrateDB, a name that we will hear more in the future"
What do you like best about CrateDB?

For me, the fact that with CrateDB, we can use SQL while having the benefits of NoSQL and VectorDBs is the best. It is so easy to use, and with their built-in functions such as 'distance' or 'knn-match,' you can enjoy the process of data analysis. Considering that you can easily integrate different types of databases and data models is something that I have never seen before. To put it in a nutshell, RESPECT! What do you dislike about CrateDB?

We should be aware of how challenging the world of databases is, and I believe that CrateDB is just at the beginning of its journey. For me, one thing I didn't like was that it did not support using ORMs, and we had to write the queries completely as strings. So, I think if this feature, along with other features such as allowing developers to add their own add-ons and extensions, is added, CrateDB could become even better. "Useful platform for engineers"
What do you like best about CrateDB?

Endless possibilities to create, if the engineer/analyst can write in Python. I expect this to be very easy to integrate with other tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CrateDB?

Without highly technical teams supporting, this is a hard tool to implement. It is not easy to use if you are a receiving stakeholder presenting the results, as the data still needs to be visualised. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent product for scalable data warehousing that also supports OSS"
What do you like best about CrateDB?

Scalable with ease whilst also offering options for edge computing. Integrating the system into an exsiting hyperscaler is easy, especially now that is is available as a one-click deployment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CrateDB?

More regions for deploying through the CrateDB cloud would be excellent, I'd also to see further extension of the in-built commands for working with the data inside of the database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
