## About ContextNest
ContextNest is persistent memory for AI models — a wiki-style knowledge vault of structured Markdown files, version-controlled and graph-linked, that gives every AI you use permanent, private knowledge to work from. It runs two ways: a free, open-source CLI and desktop app for one person working alone, and a self-hosted Community Edition for teams that need shared stewardship — draft, review, and approve knowledge before your AI acts on it. ContextNest helps you: - Give every AI you use the same memory — install once, and Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT all work from the same approved knowledge. - Keep it private and local — your files stay on your machine, not in someone else's cloud. - Version everything — every change is tracked, so you always know what your AI was working from and when. - Connect natively — runs over the Model Context Protocol, no custom integration required. - Start free, start fast — install the CLI or desktop app and build your vault as you work. No migration project. - Keep it forever — it's yours, portable, and free with no strings attached. In peer-reviewed research co-authored with Emory University and IBM Research, ContextNest's structured retrieval hit 97% answer accuracy at roughly a third of the token cost of standard retrieval — and it returns the same answer every time, not a different one on every run. ContextNest is built for anyone who wants their AI to work from what they actually know. When you're ready to bring your whole team onto one governed vault, build agents on top of it, or add compliance-grade audit trails and role-based access, PromptOwl extends ContextNest into the full governed AI platform.

## ContextNest Reviews
 ### 1. Simple, Extensible, and Essential for Context Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about ContextNest?**

I really appreciate how simple and extensible ContextNest is; it just works. I also like the integrations it has with AI agents and MC servers, which work really well. It's an easy way to make shared context available from any different type of agent, whether I'm running something locally on my desktop, on my phone, in an app, or on a different server, allowing me to centralize and make that context easily accessible to different applications.

**What do you dislike about ContextNest?**

The ability to better visualize the context that's being stored is a bit lacking. Right now, it's stored in a Git repository as MD files, which isn't easy to visualize. I know they've recently released a client application to look at and understand the context better, but I just haven't used it yet.

**What problems is ContextNest solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ContextNest allows me to create a shared context repository that's easily searchable and accessible across devices and users. It simplifies context management, centralizes data, and ensures AI-based applications have ready access.
