"Flexible and Scalable CMS with Powerful Image Management"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

What I like best about Contentful is its flexibility in managing structured content and reusable image assets in one centralized platform. Images can be linked to different content entries and reused across multiple pages, which reduces duplication and helps maintain consistency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

Contentful has a learning curve, especially when setting up content models, references, and advanced workflows. From an image-management perspective, capabilities such as resizing, cropping, focal points, and format optimization often require API parameters or frontend configuration, which can be challenging for nontechnical editors. Asset search and organization could also be more intuitive when managing a large image library, with stronger filtering, tagging, duplicate detection, and built-in editing tools. "Intuitive, Fast, and API-Friendly: Contentful Makes Content Creation Easy"
5/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

Contentful is incredibly intuitive. It is easy to personalise, allows for simple and complex creation of content, has deeply accessible API's that are beginner friendly, and is always a fast and responsive software to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

"Dislike" is quite a strong word, but I do wish it felt a bit more natural to set up systems in Contentful that allow large numbers of editors to contribute. This isn't really the point of the software, though, so it is a nice to have, and is doable through some methods. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Contentful’s Flexible, API-First CMS for Scalable Multi-Channel Content"
5/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

What I like best about Contentful is its flexibility and ease of managing content across multiple channels. The headless CMS architecture enables content reuse, supports seamless integrations with platforms such as Salesforce, and allows teams to update content independently without relying on development resources. Its structured content model, scalability, and API-first approach help deliver consistent digital experiences while improving efficiency and governance Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

One challenge with Contentful is that its headless architecture can require more technical expertise and development effort than traditional CMS platforms. As content types expand, content modeling and governance can become increasingly complex, and certain content authoring tasks may not feel intuitive for business users. In addition, licensing costs and API usage limits can become important considerations for larger implementations, particularly when managing high volumes of content and multiple integrations. "Contentful’s Clean UI and Flexible APIs Make Scalable Content Management Easy"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

What I like best about Contentful is its clean, intuitive UI and the flexibility it gives both content and development teams. It makes content management straightforward while its APIs and integrations make it easy to connect with other tools and deliver content across multiple channels. Performance is generally reliable, even as content needs grow. The platform provides good value by reducing manual content management and development effort, although pricing can become more significant as usage scales. Onboarding and documentation are helpful, and the platform continues to add AI capabilities that can improve content creation and workflow efficiency. Overall, Contentful provides a scalable and flexible foundation for managing digital content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

The biggest drawback of Contentful is that it can take a while to learn and set up, especially for teams that are new to headless CMS platforms. Some of the more advanced features and integrations still require developer support, and the pricing can get expensive as usage grows and content needs scale. The interface is generally clean, but when you’re managing a large number of content types and entries, it can start to feel complicated and harder to navigate. More guided onboarding, along with simpler and clearer pricing options, would make the platform easier to adopt and manage over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful API-First Headless CMS, but Needs Careful Modeling and Engineering Support"
3/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

The API-first, headless architecture is fantastic for omnichannel delivery. It completely decouples the backend content repository from the frontend presentation layer, meaning we can push the exact same content to our website, mobile app, and external portals simultaneously without being tied to a specific technology stack. The robust versioning and rollback features are a lifesaver for editorial teams, and the CDN-backed infrastructure ensures fast, low-latency content delivery globally. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

It is not a traditional drag-and-drop website builder, meaning marketing teams cannot use it effectively without dedicated engineering support to build the frontend. The initial content modeling can be very unforgiving—if you design your data structures poorly on day one, it creates massive headaches as you try to scale. Additionally, the API rate limits on lower tiers can be restrictive, and the pricing ramps up very quickly if you need enterprise features like advanced localization or granular roles and permissions. "Powerful but Pricey: Contentful’s Steep Learning Curve and Setup Complexity"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

Contentful provides a flexible, API-first content management platform that simplifies content creation, enables omnichannel delivery, supports collaboration, and scales easily across applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

One drawback of Contentful is that it can have a steep learning curve for users unfamiliar with headless CMS concepts. Setting up content models, APIs, and integrations often requires technical knowledge, making it less intuitive for non-technical users. Pricing can also become expensive as content volume, users, or environments grow. Additionally, while the platform is highly flexible, that flexibility sometimes means more initial configuration compared to traditional CMS platforms. Some users may also find that advanced customization or workflow requirements require additional development effort. Despite these challenges, Contentful remains a powerful and scalable solution for organizations that need to deliver content across multiple digital channels efficiently. "Flexible, API-First Content Management for Scalable Multi-Channel Experiences"
5/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

What I like best about Contentful is its flexible, API-first approach to content management. It allows content teams to create and manage content independently from the presentation layer, making it easy to deliver consistent experiences across websites, mobile apps, and other digital channels. The structured content model, strong APIs, and scalability also make it a good fit for organizations managing complex, multi-channel content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

The main challenge with Contentful is that its flexibility can also make the platform more complex to configure and govern, particularly for larger implementations with many content types and integrations. The learning curve can be higher for teams that are used to traditional CMS platforms, and some advanced functionality may require additional development effort. Cost can also become a consideration as content volume, environments, and users scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Contentful’s Flexible Headless CMS for Faster, Scalable Content Delivery"
5/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

What I like most about Contentful is how flexible it is for managing and delivering content across different applications and channels. Its headless CMS approach makes it easier for developers and business teams to manage content independently of the front-end experience, which supports better reuse, improved scalability, and quicker content updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

I do not have any major concerns with Contentful. Sometimes the initial setup, content modeling, and managing relationships between content types can be a little complex. Better visibility into content dependencies and simpler troubleshooting would make the platform even easier to manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Composable, Decoupled Content Architecture That Scales with Contentful"
5/5
What do you like best about Contentful?

What I find most valuable is the composability. I can treat content as another service within the broader architecture and integrate it with platforms such as Salesforce Commerce, CRM, or other enterprise systems rather than making the CMS the center of everything.

For me, Contentful fits well with the architectural principle of decoupling the experience layer from the underlying business and content services, which makes digital experiences easier to evolve and scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentful?

For me, Contentful is powerful precisely because it is flexible but the trade-off is that you need strong architecture and engineering discipline to turn that flexibility into a simple, maintainable solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
