They need to have instructions for running reports and also have the instructions include what field each piece of data is being pulled from. **Recommendations to others considering Calyx:** Watch the video tutorials online to see all that point can do for your company. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to enter loan information into one place and run detailed reports to manage our pipeline. We are able to store specific detailed loan information in one secure platform. ### 2. There was plenty of room to make changes and/or updates through the LOS. **What do you dislike about Calyx?** Some of the integrations that took place were not properly mapped and could have been fixed but it created a lot more manual work to forms and disclosures that could have been automated better. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** Calyx provided the solution to providing quick, fast and easy adjustments to files. It wasn't too tricky to utilize, and fields were easy to locate internally in the LOS. ### 3. If you are a mortgage broker this is a fantastic program. There is plenty of back end programming available to customize this program to your workflow, but intuitive enough for openers, processors, LOs, closers etc to navigate once they learn their way around a little. **What do you dislike about Calyx?** We found that we needed more when we switched to a retail banking channel. For a broker channel this was an ideal solution for us. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** The reporting functions were excellent and we created many custom reports. All of our staff got very comfortable using this software, and support was available if we had any issues. ### 4. It’s clunky, and the interface looks like it hasn’t been updated since 2004. It’s also not that intuitive; there’s a steep learning curve. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** The software can be used to originate loans. Sadly free training is not included only paid training is. **Recommendations to others considering Calyx:** Works really well for Loan Estimates which is what I used it for. The initial setting up of the entire program is what sucks but once you've set it all up, added your custom sheets, and templates. It is also universal and uploads to wholesale lenders with ease. **What do you dislike about Calyx?** Sometimes the REO and Liability sections do not transfer over correctly to the wholesale lender. This may be due to the fact they were not associated correctly in Point or it may be a glitch that may even be worked out by now. In other words, when a point file is uploaded to a wholesale lender, sometimes the originator says that they associated all the liabilities and REOs correctly and that it didn't transfer to our system. **Recommendations to others considering Calyx:** I think it is great for current smaller lenders with non-proprietary software. I actually believe it is the best. I used it as a broker for years and then on the backside as a wholesale lender to brokers. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is easy for broker and lenders to upload the file to the wholesale lender and transfers well into the system we use. ### 13. It loads quickly, and the screens are laid out in a way that is efficient to complete the application and generate forms. I have used it exclusively for over 17 years. **What do you dislike about Calyx?** The software sometimes crashes when I am generating documents as a PDF attachment within an email - all through the print option. This doesn't happen if I just print to PDF and then manually attach that file to an email. There is something about the option that creates the PDF and email message at the same time that causes these crashes. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Calyx Point as my loan origination software and as my basic CRM. ### 15. The Calyxx point LOS made entering 1003 loan application information easy and seamless **What do you dislike about Calyx?** From my experience all pages of the 1003 loan application could not be entered on one main page. You needed to manually click through all 5 pages of the loan application to enter the required info **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** Calyxx in my experience made the process of taking loan application simpler than most other LOS. ### 18. It hasn't changed much in the 10-years I've used it. There are hundreds of forms that different lenders require. It would be nice if they were searchable. They are not. Setting up templates is time consuming. Much of the information could be pre-populated, but isn't. There are only a few options for loan origination software, so I am relegated to this or to Byte Pro or Encompass. **What do you dislike about Calyx?** Clunky. Hard to navigate. No innovation. It is basically the same product it was 10 years ago. No training. **Recommendations to others considering Calyx:** Try others as well. At $10/seat, this might be the cheapest option. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is one of the few loan origination software platforms out there. ### 19. That way it is so much easier to flow through the screens and get them completed. **What do you dislike about Calyx?** Some of the fields that are the same info, do not carry through to other screens. For example, the real estate tax monthly payment does not carry through to the fee worksheet screen and must be re-entered. If you make a mistake, enter the wrong number, you will get an error message and must fix it to clear the error message. I have a better idea. Why not have the field link to all the other fields for monthly real estate taxes, so we only have to input it 1 time! Easy sign docs. **What do you dislike about Calyx?** I find the system a bit clunky and old school. I think the log-ins and portals are a bit out of date - and although I like having the ability to use webcaster - I feel a bit limited. **Recommendations to others considering Calyx:** This is neither better nor worse than other we have used - with the exception of the web integration and ease of use for clients (which needs improvement - but still usable).. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having the ability to have LO's not only utilize this system - but making it interactive with their clients is key. This is a work in progress - and I feel as though Calyx offers similar offerings in software as others - being able to utilize WebCaster was the draw. We are seeing our LO's sending their clients to our website more to log-in to their accounts, upload documents and see the status of their loans. ### 23. I have used this software for over three years. Now that I am familiar with it I can easily handle my everyday pipeline needs. It can be used to generate loan applications, loan numbers, and re-disclosures. **What do you dislike about Calyx?** Sometimes I find the software to be tricky, no as user friendly as other options. I haven't had to use tech support, so I don't know about the customer service. **Recommendations to others considering Calyx:** Calyx is a good product, I would not say it is as user friendly as some software. Once you learn your way around it works well, and will handle all of your loan origination and servicing needs. **What problems is Calyx solving and how is that benefiting you?** You have to really "learn" how to use the software, it's not easy to open as a new user and understand exactly how to use it. ### 24. We eliminated having them fill out paper forms and print one page for them to sign.
