What is Buildium, and what problem is it built to solve?

Buildium is property management software designed to help teams manage more of their business in one place. It brings core property management tools together with AI, automation, and customization, and supports residential rentals, community associations, commercial properties, and mixed portfolios.

What languages does Buildium support?

Buildium supports 1 language: English.

What company sizes and industries is Buildium the best fit for?

Buildium is most strongly represented among small businesses and users in real estate, with accounting also represented.
  • Company size: Small Business (50 or fewer employees).
  • Industry: Real Estate is the main cluster, with Accounting also represented.

How long does it take to implement Buildium across a team?

Buildium implementations most often reach go-live in under a month, though some teams report longer rollouts.
Time to go live Relative frequency
Under 1 month Most common
1–3 months Also commonly reported
3–6 months Less common

What customer support options does Buildium provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Buildium provides self-service help through FAQs and a knowledge base, along with direct support through chat, email/help desk, and phone. The support experience is mixed: users value knowledgeable, patient help and useful guidance, while others describe slow replies, difficulty reaching an agent, or inconsistent email responses.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Buildium from another tool?

Switching to Buildium often means moving from another property management platform or a collection of accounting and manual tools into a system that brings more day-to-day work together. Users moving from products such as AppFolio, Yardi, Propertyware, and Rentec describe seeking easier navigation, stronger property-management workflows, more useful support, or better value; some find setup and data transfer take effort, while others find onboarding and the transition straightforward.

What features or capabilities could make Buildium even more useful?

Buildium could be more useful with stronger customization and smoother workflows in areas users handle every day.
  • Offer more flexible reporting, including easier customization of fields, layouts, and exported data.
  • Expand mobile capabilities so teams can complete more administrative and property tasks away from a desktop.
  • Make maintenance and task workflows easier to coordinate, with clearer progress tracking and related work grouped together.
  • Provide more options for integrations and financial data connections to reduce duplicate entry across systems.

"User-Friendly Platform That Simplifies Communication and Payments"
5/5
What do you like best about Buildium?

Buildium is very user friendly for both staff members and our residents that use the platform. The ease of communication between staff and residents is great. We can use multiple forms of communication with residents, via email and texting. Capturing rental payments are also an ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Buildium?

Lease renewals are not very easy and definitely no user friendly. The reporting is difficult and there is no excel upload integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Buildium?

All property info together (i.e. invoices). They keep adding new features (i.e. texting). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Buildium?

Owner reports are confusing for them (in their portals). I wish the business accounting were more robust so I didn't have to separately use Quickbooks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"5-Star Review for Buildium"
5/5
What do you like best about Buildium?

Buildium has completely transformed the way we manage our properties. The platform is incredibly efficient and user-friendly, putting everything we need right at our fingertips—from lease management and rent collection to maintenance requests and financial reporting. It’s all there, and it works seamlessly.

One of the standout features is the built-in Help and Support section. Anytime we’ve run into questions or needed guidance, assistance was just a few clicks away. The support team is knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely helpful.

We’ve also had the pleasure of working directly with the Buildium team, and they’ve been fantastic to work with—professional, approachable, and always eager to help us get the most out of the platform.

If you’re looking for a powerful, all-in-one solution for property management, I can’t recommend Buildium enough. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Buildium?

The only downside we’ve encountered so far is the current limitation on uploading certain PDFs, such as management contracts, for use with DocuSign. That said, we understand Buildium is actively working on expanding this functionality, which shows their commitment to continuously improving the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Charlie Walsh of Buildium

Thank you for the glowing review! We're thrilled to hear how Buildium has transformed your property management experience. It’s especially great to know the Resident Center and Help & Support features have been valuable for both your team and your clients.

We appreciate your note about PDF upload limitations with eSignature. And I've got GREAT news! We've recently expanded the scope of eSignature, and now you can use it for all sorts of documents—not just lease agreements! I've dropped a link to a support article for more details.

Thanks again for your kind words and recommendation!

"Buildium Makes Property Management Easy"
5/5
What do you like best about Buildium?

Buildium makes day-to-day property management so much easier. I really like how everything is in one place—from tracking rent payments and sending out lease agreements to managing maintenance requests. The Resident Center is especially useful because it allows tenants to pay rent and submit requests online, which cuts down on back-and-forth communication. The accounting and reporting features are also very detailed, which helps a lot when managing multiple properties. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Buildium?

There’s not much to dislike, but if I had to mention something, it would be that the mobile app could offer more of the same features available on the desktop version. It’s great for checking basic info or approving requests on the go, but a few more tools would make it even more convenient. Also, the platform has a bit of a learning curve at first—but once you get used to the layout, it becomes very efficient to use. Overall, any drawbacks are minor compared to how much Buildium helps streamline property management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Charlie Walsh of Buildium

Thank you for your thoughtful review! It’s great to know the Resident Center and our accounting tools are making a real impact across your properties.

We appreciate your feedback on the mobile app. If you have ideas for additional mobile features, we encourage you to submit them through the Suggest a Feature page in the Help & Support menu—your input can help shape future updates.

Thanks again for sharing your experience and helping others understand the value Buildium brings to property management!

"User-Friendly Platform with Excellent Reporting and Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Buildium?

Both the landlord and tenant platforms in Buildium are very user-friendly and well-designed for their intended purposes. It was easy to use and easy to integrate. I specifically like the reporting, ledgers, and ease of understanding if tenants are up to date on rent. When using features that aren't necessary on a regular basis, it's easy to find answers through Q+A or customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Buildium?

Please consider adding a maintenance tracker for properties. This is a suggestion I have mentioned before, and I truly believe it would be a valuable addition to your platform! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Work Order Management with Buildium"
5/5
What do you like best about Buildium?

I like that Buildium is easy to manage and use, enabling me to resolve issues quickly. Without Buildium, I would have to make phone calls, send emails, and do other research, so it's a significant time-saver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Buildium?

Probably sometimes it's slow but I'm not sure if it's the page itself, or probably my location, phone, or internet. Not 100% sure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Charlie Walsh of Buildium

Thanks for your review, Carlos! We've been making communications updates pretty steadily over the years, and it's wonderful to see it's making an impact!

"Effortlessly Streamlines Property Management"
5/5
What do you like best about Buildium?

I like how Buildium makes it easy to navigate the system. The emailing and communication tool is valuable because I can send out mass messages to all of the tenants, and it efficiently pulls up the category of people I'm trying to talk to without me having to search each individual person. Honestly, I like everything about Buildium, and I can't really think of any areas for improvement right now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Training and User-Friendly Interface"
5/5
What do you like best about Buildium?

Easy and user friendly interface; easy to train new employees on Buildium. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Buildium?

The text option. We had to disable the text option. Not good to give residents so many avenues to contact landlord because it creates more work for the team to check so many places for messages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
