It took me a while to get to grips with writing a Botpress integration but their docs are good and often improving. **What problems is Botpress solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're still in the proof-of-concept phase but Botpress is helping us integrate various knowledge sources into an easily queryable interface with no need for complex syntax. We're introducing new course content to introduce students to chatbots. I decided to use Botpress as a chatbot development platform for the lab for two main reasons. I wanted a platform where students would be up and running in an hour-long lab without having to code. Botpress is making that possible with a user-friendly graphical user interface. I also wanted a flexible platform that would me to introduce students to the power of large language models. Again, Botpress delivers by allowing developers to add a document to expand the bot's knowledge base, for example. Though I'm not using it for the lab right now, it also looks like Botpress makes it easy to integrate the chatbot you develop with websites and social media platforms. I will likely demonstrate this feature in a future lab. **What do you dislike about Botpress?** If I had to pick one it's that you are forced to select a tutorial template the first time you sign up. There are many integration possibilities. It also feels great that the service seems to grow every month. Every time with a newsletter, it seems there is something that is actually exciting. I'm sure that kind of growth cannot go on forever, but at least for now, it's just great. I feel the UI is completely operation as it is now and we are satisfied creating bots with this service. **What do you dislike about Botpress?** The service has been really unreliable at least here in Europe/Finland. When we embed our bots in various websites, sometimes it just lags and no messages come in 10 seconds or so. We fear that it's too much and people will get confused about what the empty chat window even means. We have found no way to improve this. When we tried last time to trigger the windows after one message had been sent, it was not possible. You can trigger it to open the chat, and only after that it starts loading the first message, and sometimes it simply takes too long to arrive. That's not all. Sometimes when you type an answer to the bot you get no reply. The bot just stops communicating and when the user starts to ask about it, the bot just gets confused and reads the "Are you there?" messages as answers to the next questions the user hasn't even seen yet. This kind of basic functionality needs to get a lot better before we can trust to use this service on any bigger scale. Also, the mobile experience is not great. The on-screen keyboard takes over the chat and you can't press any action buttons before closing and reopening the keyboard all the time. I understand this is a challenge for various mobile platforms, but something needs to be done to it. So many users are switching to mobiles from PC environments. Customer service is OK, but could be better. You can make some new threads in Discord, but if no one answers, there's nothing you can do. **What problems is Botpress solving and how is that benefiting you?** We want to create chatbots for various clients to help them get new customers. The system delivers a very high level interface, but also provides low level information, so that any level of developer has the tools and information they need to do simple or complex things. The speed of user development and ease of iteration and implementation really make Botpress stand out compared to the many other large, bloated providers of Chatbots. There are no complex services to enable and configurations to setup before one can get developing. Pricing is clear to understand and plan for. Being a free service, this means a lot of adopters, which also means issues can be hard to get resolved. With all the noise, and a small development team at Botpress, when one faces a bug or issue, it can be difficult to know if the team is aware, how long it will take to fix, and if that fix will solve the complete issue. GOTO Logic divides bot design into re-useable chunks. The Execute Code card writes bits of or even the whole bot in Javascript for you. Conversation Summary is the' STAR feature. In one go it reolves pages of code to mange 'he said she said' issues. From a customer support point of view Robert's videos introduce botpress nicely. Discord's shared exmples confirm you are on the right track. Patrick's developer classes show off botpress' highend maliability. Botpress is featue and function rich. Out of the box cards make crud operations easy. Intergrating with external microservices is easy too. The emulater, debugger and variable side panels almost make process checking and error fixing a pleasure. It's so easy. Implimenting Botpress is a doddle. Simply copy and past the the shared url or embed scripts. Before you do configure looks and styles to whatever you want. I use botpress daily to develop and enhance lead generation. I can see why statistics predict a 30% growth. The more you use it the more you respect the underlying design and concept. **What do you dislike about Botpress?** Screen sizing on a laptop dissapears side panel's relevant portions at times. Resolved by re sizing the side panels themselves or closing the tab and re-opening it. The autosave is MAGIC. Choosing result value variables in table actions for non workflow variables is awkwrd. I tend to give up, create a workflow variable, delete the exisiting user variable and rename the workflow variable to the deleted user group. The timelap between Publish and actually published is an unknown. It seems to vary. But it isn't instant. But then that's the emulator's job. Botpress isn't and never can be dead simple. Programming Gothcha's remain. It took days to realize trailing spaces can and do exist. Easily fixed by a chatGPT script though. Some of the error messages are offkilter. A 'this shouldn't happen in the version, reset by ..' message actually means you forgot to drag a link between two nodes. The emulator and debugging log make the point of lost contact easy to find. **What problems is Botpress solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm a legal and accounting compliance specialist. Although a long way to go the potential availed by a mix of external integrations, button and intent driven flows, is enourmous. ### 31. Support for other OpenAI models is supposed to be coming. There have been some bugs on their end as they continue to build and roll out new features.
