## Bacon Unlimited Reviews
  ### 1. Promising SALT Customization, But Onboarding and Deployment Need Maturing

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Bacon Unlimited?**

I liked the use of opensource SALT and python. This made it very customizable and easy to find documentation and other SALT projects on GitHub.

**What do you dislike about Bacon Unlimited?**

While Bacon Unlimited, using the SALT project, has a large set of features and can be customized to fit your needs, we ultimately went with Ninja One after our contract expired.

1. We got in when the Bacon was fresh. The young company didn't have int infrastructure to support the number of clients we onboarded. The first day of onboarding crashed the server we were hosted on.
2. At the time, deployment of the client was unrefined. This may be different now, but when we deployed there was no MSI or EXE. Adding the client required running a batch file that added the python runtime and the salt packages.
3. New features were released frequently. While this is normally good, they frequently caused issues with our computers, or the hosted instance in the Bacon infrastructure. The cloud server would crash and we would lose connectivity. At times, some feature releases made us feel like we were the beta testers. The last straw was the PC metric monitoring that slowed every computer to a crawl, eating 90% of the CPU on the client computers. The fix from Bacon wasn't an updated package, it was to disable the service that ran the metric.
4. The remote screen control was based on VNC. VNC has a drawback that there is a delay between moving the mouse, the remote mouse moving, and actually seeing the change on your screen. Teamviewer and NinjaOne did not have this issue.
5. Offboarding was a NIGHTMARE. The uninstall script removed the SALT package but left some directories behind. The BaconWatchdog metrics service had to be uninstalled separately.

To Bacon Unlimited's credit, the platform has potential and may be a good fit for organizations looking for an emerging solution. However, for our environment, reliability and a polished remote support experience were critical requirements. After evaluating our options, we found that NinjaOne provided a more mature platform with a significantly better remote control experience.
Overall, Bacon Unlimited may continue to improve as the product matures, but it did not meet our expectations for production use at the time we evaluated it.

**What problems is Bacon Unlimited solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They provided a fresh RMM solution with built-in remote control features. I hope they continue to grow and mature, but they weren't ready for the large enterprise sector.

  ### 2. Delicious Endpoint Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Bacon Unlimited?**

Bacon was a breeze to setup and configure, we were off to the races in no time. The cross platform capabilities of Bacon allow us to centrally manage all of our infrastructure from one platform. The security features of Bacon are what I found most compelling. In addition to ensuring all endpoints were protected and encrypted, Bacon provides powerful vulnerability management features that allow us to easily track and remediate vulnerabilities. We had a few questions regarding using the Profiles feature, but Bacon support was extremely responsive and helpful. If you're looking for one endpoint platform to rule them all, look no further.

**What do you dislike about Bacon Unlimited?**

There isn't much to complain about with Bacon. The only improvement I see so far is I would like the ability to customize the dashboard and the reports. The default ones are good for most people, but I would like to get be able to more specific details in some of the reports.

**What problems is Bacon Unlimited solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bacon is allowing us to properly secure our endpoints, whether they are remote or on prem. The remote management capabilities saves our team time and resources.

  ### 3. Can't Miss Endpoint Management Platform

Bacon Unlimited's Endpoint Management platform simplifies device management, effectively addresses CVE remediation, and enhances security across multiple systems. With its strong capabilities and cross-platform support, it stands out as a versatile and reliable solution.

**What do you dislike about Bacon Unlimited?**

Setup is for the savviest of IT. Once in place, the platform is a breeze to run.

**What problems is Bacon Unlimited solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With managing over 1000 endpoints, it's versatile to be able to do multiple functions such as:

- Health Monitoring
- Remote Troubleshooting

Patching and compliance are the highlights of bacon. Ensuring that my endpoints are up-to-date and we are made aware of the latest threats is something that make me breathe easier
