I love the ease of building in Anaplan compared to the Excel documents I used to work with. The syntax is straightforward, and the drill-down feature makes it very easy to troubleshoot any issues while building out a User Story. Anaplan takes out all the validation issues that come along with end-users "fat fingering" a key and erasing data. Also, the history feature where you can view any change to a specific cell has been incredibly useful. My major issue with Anaplan is the concurrency issues when running processes or editing cells. The first complaint I hear from any client is that there is a blue box on their screen preventing them from entering data. I have minimized the time the actions run by following the best practices, but when there are multiple users in the system, it will inevitably happen. I know that I could remove actions from the end-users, but the clients ask for a way to input then submit. So therefore, I have to have a submission action. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have been using Anaplan for over five years across various workstreams such as budgeting, headcount planning, open role management, regulatory, and more. I find Anaplan's ability to consolidate large quantities of data invaluable in creating single source of truth reports on an enterprise scale. It also allows me to run large scenario calculations quickly, which is essential for our operations. Anaplan's high-performance calculation engine stands out as a powerful tool that I rely on heavily. Additionally, over the last year, I have noticed significant improvements in the reporting capabilities, particularly the release of combined grids. This enhancement has been a major help as there is now a significant focus on improving the cosmetic capabilities within the tool for generating clean-formatted reports, which I truly appreciate. I find Anaplan's reporting capabilities to still be an area of weakness compared to other tools, despite the tangible improvements. The limitation in the New UX, where there is a 'six card' maximum across a dashboard, is also restrictive. Anaplan is a cloud based tool that can be access from any web browser and even mobile devices. It can store billions of data points and has native security and user access management capabilities. The platform's modularity accommodates even the most specialized business processes, enabling us to have the platform adapt to our business needs rather than forcing our business to adapt to the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The platform lacks extensibility, which has forced us to create several workarounds to better integrate it with our process automation. Features released at each initial GA stage often feel incomplete or fall short of what was promised on the roadmap. That said, these features do tend to improve over time and eventually align with the original vision.
