Use it, learn and improve your solution at your own pace. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Limited documentation and enablement for the new Applications Impossibility to choose between Polaris vs Classic engine ahead of the implementation (as a result of an analysis of the data) **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** It can solve really detailed and complex solutions (eg: production scheduling thanks to its optimiser) or multi-variable statistical forecast (thanks to ML) and also, can connect the whole process, from Actual Data ingestion and analytics, to demand forecast (statistical, sales-driven, consensus...) to Inventory Planning and Optimisation, Production and MRP throguh multivel BOM. So, in short: can be detailed and go in depth at each step of the process, and can also connect all the steps creating a integrated and seamless solution with all kind of reports, alerts and data visualisation. ### 6. This makes it a great tool for almost any use case. The tool is also very powerful and I have built calculations that would have taken hours to run in legacy systems which are more or less 'instantly' (make a change, takes about 1 second to flow through) processed. I'm talking HUGE corporate processes and things like that. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Customized reporting at a very low level with lots of members and dimensions can lead to size considerations. Reporting needs should be thought out prior to starting reporting sprints. Reporting that assists in the planning process is always worthwhile. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problems I have solved with Anaplan run the gamete of corporate use cases, from Biopharma to Oil and Gas. It really can do anything. The biggest benefit in my humble opinion is the time savings realized by using Anaplan. Employees can focus on other more important tasks versus constantly trying to compile data for forecasts as Anaplan removes a lot of this legwork. ### 7. Anaplan improves data accuracy as it offers a single source of truth, compared to having excel files spread across countries and these excel files often having multiple versions of the "_finalv3" type. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** 1. Big models often struggle with performance issues. This leads to more resources being spent on trying to improve performance rather than working improving the model functionality and user experience. 2. Sometimes the interface would have limitations that might look small, but can really make data readability more difficult. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having our budgeting process in Anaplan offers a standardized approach across the company and the countries it operates in. This makes the important KPIs consistent and minimizes the risk of different interpretations from country to country. Being able to calculate intricate formulas with vast arrays of data, and then clearly tell that story on a board or management page, is a feature that sets Anaplan apart. It is also scalable. With the right team, connected planning will become the rule instead of the exception at any commited organization. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** There are some intuitive model building items that Anaplan could improve with, such as inherent time or dimension filtering that transcend having to build certain functionality to need. Additionally, while customer support is extremely helpful, the error messaging could improve and allow more troubleshooting on it's own. For example, the calculation process running in the midst of an erroneous formula can add extra time to making seemigly quick updates on the back end. **Recommendations to others considering Anaplan:** I would recommend Anaplan as a solution for any business. The benefits are limitless, and the interface is friendly and easy to use. You will instantly see benefits if you have dedicated personnel helping implement and maintain. Clean data and a clear roadmap & vision are essential to successfully using this tool. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** One problem Anaplan is solving for us now is how to dynamically plan data on a daily level, while quickly aggregating to monthly views for analytical purposes. Previously, our client was unable to do this efficiently. Once they did get the correct views, they lost access to much of the daily & transactional level detail that drove the results. Anaplan fixed this issue seamlessly. While it is extremely flexible, it is important to have the right people in place to help manage the tool long term. Implementations for Anaplan are quick and you can easily deliver an MVP and then continue to add on additional features throughout the year in releases. Users enjoy working with the tool because of the UX - if dashboards are built with a strong user journey in mind. Anaplan continues to release updates to the UX to meet the ever changing needs of clients. In addition, Anaplan has an extensive roadmap that I believe is focusing on the right areas: Data Integration and improvements there, creating out of the box solutions that folks can use or add customisations as needed, centralising security & consolidations to name a few. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** The auditing feature is not very user friendly. The export of history must be exported. parsed and displayed on a separately built dashboard to be useful. There continues to be issues with Data Management & Security Management; however, Anaplan focuses on the key areas where it recieves feedback and acts -- which is great! Consolidations features are missing -- thus missing the full end to end journey of planning. **What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?** Anaplan is centralising the planning processes and helping with version control and collaboration. There is more visibility into the numbers behind calculations and stronger processes are being formed internally to help systemitise budgeting and forecasting processes. ### 14. Navigating Anaplan is inutitive and pages are feature-packed. Pages are designed to be used ad-hoc by end users, allowing users to run self-service reports. There is a large customer support network that is very active. **What do you dislike about Anaplan?** Models can quickly grow to become unmanageable, especially as business requirements change over time. The tool itself has a learning curve that can take end users longer to learn than expected. The depth of possible inputs or datapoints can lead to uncertainty if data hygiene is not maintained. Multiple spreadsheets were provided to the various teams in different locations making it almost impossible to provide updates to master data (structural or transactional).
