**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is highly customizable and Excel-like enough that it is an intuitive switch for business users. Building models doesn't require a heavy technical background which is key in empowering the business to lead their transformation. In memory calculation gives ability to have an end user's input seamless flow through to generate P&L impact, eliminating the need for batch processing.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Large scale models may not be highly efficient and require breaking down components into spokes which then eliminates the power of real-time calculations.

**Recommendations to others considering Anaplan:**

Have dedicated internal model builders from Day 1, do not wait until after your initial implementation to start skilling up your center of excellence. You will want to leverage the capabilities once you realize the power of the platform, and having a dedicated internal team from day one will help you to do that!

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creates a structure to connect related planning concepts - margin planning, expense planning, etc. and centrally enforces data integrity through shared dimensionality. The ability to capture versions and scenarios is a clear advantage to excel based modeling.

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Use case agnostic tool, easy to scale across different departments. Allows a user-friendly audit trail of all changes in the model. Powerful engine that can replace huge unsustainable excel sheets.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Initial model implementation requires support from an implementation partner. Allows training of end-users during the build, but takes a significant amount of time to become self-sufficient.

Standardization of modeling approach across different units. Ability to quickly access/extract centralized data and use it for various recurring or ad-hoc analyses.

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

- Business owned - after successful implementation with business partner, the business can maintain and enhance the solution without Consultants or IT Teams
- Extensibility - native connectors with different softwares
- Collaboration - all departments of your company on one platform
- Almost no downtime, no technical maintenance and upgrades needed, cloud-based solution
- Constant improvements to the platform - new features are being released every month
- Easy to learn, advanced Excel users can learn Anaplan very quickly, especially given the free online learning platform
- Scalability - it can support huge organizations in very complex processes

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

- Pricing, Anaplan is quite an expensive solution. Nevertheless, we think it is worth it.
- UX could still be improved. However, the Product Team is always trying to respond to the Users needs

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

1. Stability (cloud-based) and robustness in nature from a financial view. 2. Integrates with multiple technologies and is better with decision-making. 3. Inbuilt UI/UX and dashboarding options with APIs (external visualization tools like Tableau not needed) 4. Various functional features helpful for carrying out financial reports. 5. Handles a huge amount of data with a handful of customizations.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

1. Limited storage could create a problem for handling multiple models. 2. Expensive, it could be more cost-effective. 3. Does include a few glitches with the interface. 4. An error in calculation could take up to 6-7 minutes worth of time to restore back to the original state.

It's a bit expensive due to its per-GB/ workspace charging, but you are paying for a quality product that processes quickly.

Consider your long term plans because Anaplan can help with a road map of digitization of many processes.

I've solved a lot of finance processes involving product costing, transfer pricing and coming up with a rolling forecast. I was able to customize Anaplan to suit the exact business case.

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Its consistency and dependability. Reports cannot be corrupted by a user like an excel workbook can. The frameworks of reports are maintained and a data refresh populates them with the latest information.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

There are some limitations that requires demanding work arounds. An example of a limitation is the inability to combine line item subsets to enable the synchronization feature.

Most projects I service are FP&A planning projects. The biggest benefit is having a centralized location for users to plug in their information through their custom planning methodology and consolidating it with others for real time results.

The flexibility of the platform allows for excellent scalability and possibilities for solutions.

It is a clean slate platform that allows for ultimate flexibility but also means nothing comes "out of the box." Everything is custom and takes time to design and build.

**Recommendations to others considering Anaplan:**

Get out of Excel hell and into an actual enterprise tool. Anaplan has been a great solution to work in that provides incredible flexibility and scalability.

I have been a part of solutions in Anaplan regarding Sales Performance Enablement, Technology Costing, and Management Reporting. Using Anaplan, we have gotten greater clarity and insights into the data allowing Management to make more informed decisions and automation of reports saving endless hours of excel hell.

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

Anaplan is very good at handling complex calculations and modeling logic applied to vast amounts of data. So Anaplan can solve problems that clients have where excel just cannot handle the levels of calculations required. I have modeled many things in Anaplan, from supply chains to call centres, to investment funds and also the obvious things like P&L's, Balance Sheet, and cashflow. You build everything from scratch so you can model pretty much anything Another great use of Anaplan is where you want to guide the user to follow a process. You can add in whatever data validations/controls, process gates, signoff/approval stages you need. And provide the user with real-time analysis of how their inputs have impacted their plan and any KPI's connected to it The best attribute that helps Anaplan's long term success with clients is how the models can be adapted to move with the business, so as the business and its environment changes, the model can adapt and stay relevent. Which stops users reverting back to Excel

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The focus of new features over the past few years has been very much on making the end users experience better. So model builders have been left behind somewhat, mainly from the point of view of writing and interrogating formulas, so there is scope to make our lives easier and modelling even faster. However there is an update expected soon which is promised to make the modelers lives a lot easier, so watch this space

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrated P&L > Balance Sheet > Cashflow This significantly sped up the quarterly forecasting process for my client, and I also built lots of checks for account mappings to identify any holes in the mappings which could cause a variance to the balance sheet or any of the inbuild balance checks. As the model was vast so the model admins had to really stay on top of new accounts or mappings coming in IFRS Modelling Contract Revenue Anaplan was able to perform the calcs at a much more detailed level than excel, which was already at its limits and provides lots of analysis for the business. Although the primary purpose was for statutory reporting on the clients' contracts over the contract life Private Equity Fund modeling Looking backward at investor level to calculate provisions, and looking forward for the rest of the fund's life at a deal level. To determine the expected returns on investment. The main benefit for the client is providing a solid platform to bring together their actuals plus the ability to overlay what-ifs for the outlook and compare multiple scenarios against each other. The inputs being at a level high enough for fund managers to relate to, but the underlying logic is very detailed to the extent of making decisions on when to call from or distribute to investors in a more life like way Supply vs Demand modelling In a range of industries, including energy, telecoms, and consumer goods. The principle is fairly similar for all of these industries, matching supply and demand, identifying variances. As with previous applications the main benefits were related to performing the calculations at a more detailed level than Excel can handle, and providing operations with multiple scenarios to try out mutiple ways to resolve supply or demand issues

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

In memory, calculation is fast and multi-dimensional. It is also API supported platform. Moreover, many use cases are starting with FP&A to revenue recognition.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

It's synchronous system instead of an Async system. This makes developer life harder since the developer needs to factor this when doing multiple import and export jobs carefully.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving multi-dimensional calculations. The most significant benefit is everything is in memory. So when the formula changes, everything gets recalculated within a second.

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

The flexibility. As a partner I would say there are very few things I would tell a customer you can't do. The question is always "do we have the time to accomplish everything you want?" The answer is probably not so let's focus on the mission critical items that get the most bang for your buck.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

The new UX looks better, but doesn't function as well as the old UX. The fact that the cards are locked to a size makes it difficult to scale the same dashboard for people who see only a few items versus people who see thousands of items.

**Recommendations to others considering Anaplan:**

Give yourself time to do a proper implementation and think of Anaplan as a living software. You shouldn't try to do everything you want when you first get it. Get the most important pieces correct and then iterate on the design.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving Sales Performance Management (SPM) use cases. The greatest benefit is connected planning. Instead of companies using 100s of Excel spreadsheets that get passed around and altered, the logic is set and everyone can see what they are supposed to see and only edit what they are supposed to edit.

Anaplan allows you the flexibility to build everything from a small, departmental model that services a very tailored and specific use case to a large, standardized full company planning model. It's user interface is responsive, sleek, and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

With a lot of flexibility comes the need to make sure you are not overengineering a complex process. Like any true platform, you have to balance "I can do anything" with "what I should be doing" in the platform.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan is helping to 1) making forecasting and budget cycles faster and more efficient 2) allowing for modeling of multiple business scenarios (i.e. "what ifs") 3) connected planning across the organization so it's not purely a finance exercise

Data hub used to aggregate multiple sources of data. In addition, the connected planning of "linked excel pivots".

Data Integration could be cleaner and easier to use. Dashboarding could use some additional formatting features.

Talk with an Anaplan partner vs Anaplan sales rep to better understand needs and size requirements.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No longer need to have multiple versions of a file. Don't need to update formulas for the new month by dragging everything across in Excel. Big time saver.

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

It's the best tool so far for Analysis and Planning in almost any domain possible. As it's a blank slate, businesses can design it as per their needs, the domains they are into and the existing process that they are following. Also, Anaplan is coming with new features now and then to progressively improvise the tool to the best of customer's needs.

That it does not have a function for "today's date".

Anaplan is very flexible and powerful. The fact that it allows real-time calculating with no processing time and online collaboration is a huge benefit of this application.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Anaplan could still improve its dashboarding and charting capabilities. While they are present, there are still some gaps in the charting that other solutions (excel) have.

I have solved many problems with Anaplan across various use cases both internally at my company and for our clients. From Agile Tracking to Recruiting Reporting and Sales Planning, Anaplan has shown it can do it all!

Manually intensive work for backfilling actuals as well as operational tasks that were previously managed in Excel. Users previously worked ~900 hours over the span of the year to get data in Excel, but Anaplan has helped them SIGNIFICANTLY decrease that time.

For me, the most helpful aspect of Anaplan is its ability to summarize plan updates real-time. The modeling capabilities are easily transferable from your base excel knowledge.

Dashboarding in the classic view was cumbersome. Our implementation was done prior to Anaplan's new UX and transitioning from classic dashboards to the New UX is not the quickest thing to do.

The biggest problem we solved with Anaplan was standardizing our annual budgeting process. We went from thousands of Excel files to one platform where all our budgeting was done. This helped prevent different finance teams from building their own methodologies for the budget and aligned all of finance.

Anaplan is an amazing tool where your business can be planned on a single platform with a data hub-or with an option to pull in data from various other CRM platforms. What makes Anaplan a better option to plan business is the ability to bring in various domains together along with specific roles and access. Learning tools give an insightful view about this software that includes specific UX to build dashboards for the end-user. Anaplan follows Agile methodology and lets you prepare user stories on a pre-defined template to help with the sprints. The Anaplan community ensures that everyone using the tool are comfortable and frequently brings in new features as requested.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Some features are absent on the tool making the model building consume a lot more space than required. Some of the details have to be repeatedly pulled into modules, increasing the space required thereby increasing cost of the tool.

**What problems is Anaplan solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anaplan has solved many of the problems that users with traditional platforms like Excel have. The hassle of switching tabs is now replaced with a hierarchical structure with presentable dashboards flowing down to modules and then lists. Given the capability to integrate with a lot of CRM platforms, it is versatile and most businesses can make the switch instantly. The potential of executing high-level Machine Learning models with some integration makes Anaplan a much powerful tool and advances its capabilities.

**What do you like best about Anaplan?**

The underlying modeling platform is very powerful but also fairly easy for a new user to pick up. This means that it can be used for a wide variety of use cases across an organisation, in a joined up way. For example, a very operational planning model looking at supply chain planning can be built and integrated with a more financial plan.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

As with any SaaS tool, the challenge is in integrating with other source systems. That said Anaplan have just released CloudWorks to do just that. Whilst it's at an early stage, that really shows some promise.

We've used the Anaplan platform to implement a solution that uses statistical forecasting to look for trends and seasonality in our historical incident data and predict future demand. It then allows us to bring in rostering information and see where there will be a gap between demand and capacity. Finally, it allows us to model out changes to the roster so we can bridge that gap.

As a cloud-based planning platform, Anaplan has strong release management that, from my experience, there is no major problem encountered after scheduled platform updates. It underlines the benefits of having a cloud-based solution.<br><br>Training materials are great as they are built around different use cases to emphasize the Connected Planning message.<br><br>Anaplan Community is strong where one can post questions/ideas and expect responses from peers.

Business logic transformation during data load is not available that it needs to be done at the source system.<br><br>Multi-dimensional sparsity management is something that needs to be delivered.

The simplicity and speed of modeling to meet a wide variety of use cases. Users quickly become autonomous on the platform. New features are released every month. The community platform can help you find answers when you are stuck on a design point. A learning center with a lot of e-learning courses to help you gain skills on the platform easily. The user interface has been completely revised for a much better experience.

**What do you dislike about Anaplan?**

Volumetric issues that may arise when you have to cross several dimensions with a lot of items if you have a small workspace. Reporting features are still too limited even if you can use native connectors to plug into BI Solutions (Tableau, Power BI ...)

We were forecasting every part of operating expense including headcount, rent, depreciation, software licenses, contractors, and other project based spending. Although the model built by our consultants was robust, it was almost impossible for the average finance employee to maintain.
