An example could be where the two regions and separated by a river, you don't want the fly-over-river distance, but instead the realistic-take-the-bridge distance. **What problems is Amazon OpenSearch Service solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's especially useful for distance related searching, where the lat and lng of the objects are indexed with geo_point, and searched by specifying reference region lat and lng and distance.
