It has a very high availability and we don't need to worry about any infrastructure management. AWS also provides a great support whenever we need and they keep updating it frequently. I can see that they're backing the development with a big team. **What do you dislike about Amazon OpenSearch Service?** The only problem is the vendor lock-in, which means that we can't use it on the same cloud that we have a contract. They're also a smaller team compared to Elastic and there's a risk that Amazon will stop investing in it as it's not their core business. Since moving to the aws solution we've not had to change the underlying instance types and maintaining them. Some live ui editors would be good here too. Taking in logs from cloudwatch would be nicer if you could set a filter before sending it into opensearch. We use it for multiple purposes, and the best part is it requires zero ops, and we can just configure it from the console and start using it. **What do you dislike about Amazon OpenSearch Service?** The one part we don't like is as it doesn't require any ops. In addition to that, OpenSearch has promised to backport bug fixes to all affected versions enabling the consumers of OpenSearch to take full control of when they want to upgrade their software to the newer releases. This was one functionality missing from Elastic's managed service. Also, since OpenSearch is a port of Ealstic Stack, it will be very easy to migrate to OpenSearch if you are an existing Elastic consumer. **What do you dislike about Amazon OpenSearch Service?** One limitation of this product is that if you create an OpenSearch cluster in a VPC, you won't be able to create indices on the cluster. This is a known limitation from Amazon OpenSearch. I hope this will be fixed in an upcoming version release.
