"Effortless Bulk Uploads"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

I find Tolgee extremely useful for the translation and repository of our UI texts. It's so easy to use, especially for uploading translations in bulk, which is a huge help when dealing with multiple languages. I really appreciate the simple and clean UI, which makes things straightforward. I'm grateful for the bulk upload feature since it saves me from doing tedious manual work. The machine translation feature is also something I like, and the import and export functions are very handy for my tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tolgee?

One thing I'd like to see improved is the ability to undo translation changes more easily. I can view previous versions, but restoring them requires manually copy and pasting the old text. A simple Restore option in the history would make this much more convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Tolgee Makes Large-Scale Localization Collaboration Visible and Manageable"
5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

When coordinating hundreds of volunteers across dozens of languages, visibility matters as much as efficiency. That’s where Tolgee made the biggest difference : it makes the collaboration visible.

Before, translations were scattered across separate files. Now the team can see global collaboration happening in one place.

Tolgee features like task assignments and granular permissions make it easier to coordinate large groups of contributors. Translators can also discuss specific strings directly in the interface, reviewers can mark translations as approved. This keeps the entire localization workflow transparent and manageable, even with dozens of contributors involved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tolgee?

We struggled to set up some integrations, and are still working on it. We could also use more data visualisation to have a better and custom monitoring of translations overall state. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly UI/UX That Streamlined Our Localisation Workflow"
5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

Very user-friendly UI/UX for linguists, and Tolgee fits seamlessly into our technical localisation workflow. It's been a game-changer for making our localisation process more efficient. The team are also lovely to deal with, and quick to respond in case of any issues / feature suggestions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tolgee?

Nothing immediately springs to mind, we're very happy with the product and service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Strong localisation solution across every platform"
5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

Tolgee has been our localisation backbone since day one. We’ve been using it for more than two years, and we’re very happy with it. We use it for Compose Multiplatform as well as native iOS and Android, which helps us localise both our shared UI and platform-specific strings. We also use it for our Next.js website, and it works very well there too.

One thing I really like is how flexible the tooling is. The Tolgee CLI allowed us to create custom scripts to pull strings and place them exactly where we want them, as well as automatically remove unused strings. On top of that, Tolgee MCP allows us to handle localisation through AI. When we don’t use MCP, we use the Tolgee Web UI, which is easy to use. We currently manage around 30 languages, and the experience has been fast and reliable.

They offer both a managed service and a self-hosted option, with reasonable pricing for companies of all sizes. The team is approachable and genuinely responsive to feedback. For instance, when I first started using Tolgee in 2024, Compose Multiplatform wasn’t supported yet. I opened an issue on GitHub, and support was added in a following update. I also had the opportunity to participate in a user interview, which reinforced my positive impression that they genuinely care about hearing feedback from their users. What do you dislike about Tolgee?

I don't have any point at the moment. Tolgee does everything we need very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Dear Maurizio,

thank you so much for the review. I am happy to hear we have been part of your localization journey from the begining!

Also I am happy to hear that we were able to improve your developer experience with Compose Multiplatform support. In case you run into any issues in the future, never hesitate contacting us, we are always happy to help.

"Friendly Slack Support, Great MCP Addition, and Flexible Cloud-to-Self-Host Option"
5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

The advice in the Slack channels has been friendly and genuinely helpful, and the recent MCP addition has been great for us. We’re on the cloud plan at the moment, but it’s reassuring to have the option to self-host if we ever need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tolgee?

We’re a small company (around 10 FTE), and at the moment some of the features feel a bit OTT for what we need. For example, we don’t require many of the review steps, but they don’t really get in the way either. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Barus Urbanova of Tolgee

Dear Adam,

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Tolgee! We're pleased to hear that our Slack support and MCP addition have been valuable for your team. We are always working on improving both - our Cody bot responses and also finding the right moment to handover to human. 💪

We understand that some features may seem unnecessary for smaller teams, and we appreciate your feedback on that. While we are also serving bigger companies now, we are committed to keep the UI clean and easy to use for smaller teams as well.

"Tolgee Streamlines Translation with Easy Key Management and API Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

What I like most about Tolgee is how much it streamlines the entire translation workflow between developers and translators.

It’s very easy to manage translation keys, languages, and machine translations all in one place. Adding new languages or updating existing translations takes very little developer involvement, which saves us a lot of time compared to handling translation files manually.

Thanks to the API, it is also very easy to integrate in custom applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tolgee?

Not much to dislike, when it is good, it is good. :-) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy-to-Use Translation Hub, but GitHub Sync Needs Work"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

I use Tolgee to manage translations for our website and app across several languages. I like that we can self-host it, which makes it easier for us to control access. The interface is clear: I can see how many keys need translating and manage everything in a dashboard instead of editing files. It helps us make sure translations are correct, send them to translators, and get feedback quickly. The permission system and interface work well for us, and Tolgee is easy to use and meets our needs. Installing it on premises and configuring it was also very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tolgee?

The only thing I think could be improved is the integration with GitHub directly. Maybe it's a problem on our side too, but the automatic sync doesn't work the way we'd like. If the app relied more on Tolgee, I wouldn't have to redeploy every time or manually extract and reimport files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Real-time translations and corrections without touching code"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

The agility to translate and correct strings in real-time without having to touch code or rely on a new deployment. For our field partner acquisition application, it allows us to iterate copies, adapt key campaign terminology, and adjust forms immediately without technical friction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tolgee?

The initial learning curve for non-technical profiles and the accuracy of AI. The structure of keys and namespaces can be intimidating for those who only enter to change specific texts. Additionally, AI-assisted translation is often too literal; in partner acquisition, we need a very empathetic and campaign-specific tone, so we almost always end up writing manually. A simplified view for editors would greatly facilitate adoption. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Tolgee Feels Obsolete: How Claude Code took its place"
1/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

The best thing was, how easy it was to add translations and see the different languages side by side instead of having them in different files. The code integration and integration into i18next was easy, understandable and fast too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tolgee?

When using the cdn and fetching the translations per API, sometimes the loading times are too long and you can see the translation keys for a split second. So in my case I had to use tolgee with local JSON Files. The biggest negative aspect of tolgee is, that it has become obsolete. With stuff like Claude Code it has become much much easier to manage multi-language translations without having an extra tool for it. Even if they are split between different translation files, AI Agents manage everything for you. With Companies already using multiple AI Agents, it just doesn't make sense to pay for an extra AI Tool, that needs constant maintenance, support and training for new employees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Barus Urbanova of Tolgee

Dear reviewer, thank you for the honest review. We are really sorry to hear that even though the review contains a lot of nice words about how easy the setup and usage was, you were still unhappy using Tolgee. Our main goal is being developer-centric and make Tolgee run smooth.

About the loading flash. It seems like you are using some older version of the Tolgee SDK. Even if you were able to freeze your loading app before the translations from the CDN arrive, our current SDKs (for a few years now) are never showing the key names. It is actually kinda cool stuff we are doing there so I am sharing a link to the docs with this reply.

About AI agents. We agree they changed localization a lot. If only a small team of developers touches translations, an agent in the codebase can be enough. Tolgee is built for the moment when this stops being enough. When product, marketing, translators or legal start editing texts. When you need to know who changed which string and why. When some people can edit only one language and others approve. That is where the activity log, granular permissions and review workflows matter. AI writes the translations. Tolgee is where your team controls and approves them. We have a very powerful MCP, so you can use Tolgee without leaving your Claude session.

And if paying for a tool does not make sense for you right now, core features of Tolgee are open source. So you can still use us.

If you want, write me at barus@tolgee.io. I am always happy to help with the CDN setup.

"Simplified Translations Thanks to an Intuitive Interface"
5/5
What do you like best about Tolgee?

Tolgee stands out for its ability to simplify translation management while naturally integrating into our development workflow. Its modern, intuitive, and well-structured interface facilitates quick adoption and provides clear access to various features. The initial setup proved particularly simple, without technical friction.

I also appreciate the AI features, which speed up the translation process and reduce manual tasks, while allowing the possibility to verify and adjust the results. The platform's performance enhances a smooth and responsive experience, even when managing a large volume of translations. Finally, its pricing seems coherent given the features offered and the time saved. In the end, Tolgee is an effective, accessible, and well-thought-out solution for centralizing localization and integrating it meaningfully into the development cycle. What do you dislike about Tolgee?

Nothing to complain about: this product completely satisfies me! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
