# Xcode vs Genymotion for a mobile team comparing mobile app debugging platforms that need to cover both iOS and Android from a single setup: which is worth building the cross-platform testing workflow around?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Our mobile team keeps landing on <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/xcode/reviews">Xcode</a> for iOS and <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/genymotion/reviews">Genymotion</a> for Android separately whenever this comes up, and they asked me to help research whether one of them is actually worth building a cross-platform <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/mobile-app-debugging">mobile app debugging</a> workflow around, or whether running both in parallel is just the reality. Wanted to get input from teams that have already worked through this before we take it back to our engineers.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Here is what each one actually covers:</p><ul>

Android support does not exist natively, making it the wrong anchor for a cross-platform setup unless Android needs are minimal.</li>

&lt;p&gt;The post already lands on the honest answer, these two don&#39;t compete, so here&#39;s the step after it: running both in parallel is not the failure state teams think it is. The cost of two native tools isn&#39;t the tools, it&#39;s when everything around them also splits: two bug report formats, two test plans, two dashboards, and results nobody can compare. That layer is what you consolidate. One bug intake with a platform field, one test plan both platforms run, one place results land. Do that and Xcode plus Genymotion stops feeling like two setups and becomes one workflow&lt;/p&gt;
