Simply put, you can't. When I attempt to change the color/category of an occurrence, I get a pop-up message advising, "You can only change categories by opening the series." This leaves you with two choices: (1) Establish one color/category for the series and leave it. OR (2) Change the color/category prior to each event, but this will involve sending out updates to each participant, which can grow wearisome, especially to those participants who already receive too much email.

To select and delete several emails, in the message list, click the first email, press and hold the Shift key, click the last email, and then press the Delete key.

In my experience IBM Notes is used mainly as a client for IBM Domino, which is an email server integrated into a rich platform for application development. As an enterprise email platform it is used across all industries, form finance to retail, from consulting to automotive industries, from utilities to oil and gas industries and so on. The same is valid for app development: document management systems, intranet applications for HR , document workflow with role based approval cycles to name a few... these are all cross industries needs that have successfully been solved using IBM Notes and Domino.
