Gemma 3 1B: Lightweight, but Hits Limits Quickly

I tried Gemma 3 1B mainly because I was curious to see how much a very small model could do on local hardware. The biggest advantage is that it's lightweight and starts responding quickly, even on machines without high-end GPUs. That makes it easy to experiment with if you're interested in running AI models locally. I found it reasonably useful for very simple tasks like rewording short text, asking basic programming questions, or getting quick explanations of common concepts. Since it's open, it's also nice for learning how local AI models work without needing cloud services or API credits. It's not a model I use every day, but I can see the value for people who want something small, fast, and easy to run.
