TinyURL Reviews & Product Details

TinyURL is a URL shortening and link management software that allows individuals and organizations to create short, easy-to-share links and manage how those links are used over time. It is commonly used by marketing teams, product teams, developers and operations teams that need reliable, long-lasting links for digital and offline distribution. At its core, TinyURL converts long web addresses into shorter URLs that are easier to share across channels such as email, SMS, social media, print materials, QR codes and internal tools. Unlike many basic URL shorteners, TinyURL links are permanent by default, meaning they do not expire unless the user chooses to change or disable them. This makes the platform suitable for long-term campaigns, documentation and public-facing resources. TinyURL also functions as a link management platform, offering tools that help users organize, control and analyze their links. Users can create custom aliases, group links with tags, update destination URLs, set expiration rules and generate QR codes tied to their short links. For tracking and measurement, TinyURL provides link analytics, including click counts, referrers, geographic data, devices and traffic trends over time. For teams and high-volume use cases, TinyURL supports bulk link creation and API access, allowing links to be generated and managed programmatically. This is useful for workflows such as SMS messaging, marketing campaigns, product notifications and automated systems that require large numbers of short links. TinyURL also supports branded domains, enabling businesses to use their own custom domains instead of a shared shortening domain. This helps improve brand recognition and trust when links are shared externally. Founded in 2002, TinyURL is one of the oldest and longest-running URL shortening services and is used globally by individuals, small businesses and enterprise organizations that need a simple, reliable, and scalable solution for link shortening and link management.

"They Are No Longer Tiny!"

2.5/5

What do you like best about TinyURL?

TinyURL is one of the original URL shorteners -- and I used to really love it. I depended on it for business and personal use, and I enjoyed the fact that it was free and easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TinyURL?

The URL length, in my opinion, has gotten so much longer that I have now shifted to competitors. I feel that the links looked "silly" due to their length, and many companies have shifted to competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering TinyURL:

I would consider competitors as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TinyURL solving and how is that benefiting you?

I hate long links, and TinyURL solved that issue. With limited character counts online, it's a necessity in the business to shorten URLs whenever possible. This did the trick! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about TinyURL?

TinyURL is very good for shortening very long URLs into formats that can be used in email, SMS and other purposes. The URL that is generated then can be analyzed for hits vs other URLs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TinyURL?

Some environments don't like the formatting of TinyURLs URLs and some IT departments have issues with the security of the platform. So I don't see it used very much anymore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering TinyURL:

Make sure your IT department is OK with this solution as you are considering it. They may have their own method of shortening URLs that they prefer to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Makes it easy to share out really long links"

4/5

What do you like best about TinyURL?

I like the simple interface that is packed with tons of very simple but useful features. I use this tool all the time for work in sharing out links and it always simplifies things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TinyURL?

I sometimes wish there was a way to generalize the link or something so that it wouldn't always start with tinyurl... because I sometimes fear it looks unprofessional with clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering TinyURL:

If hyperlinking is not the end solution, then give this tool a try. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TinyURL solving and how is that benefiting you?

Not having to link things in slide deck presentations or spreadsheets that are very long is helpful. Hyperlinking on documents can only get you so far so tinyurl closes that gap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
