"Cincinnati Opera Review"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Tessitura?

Tessitura has become the central system for our organization, connecting ticketing, fundraising, marketing, customer service, and analytics in one platform. The biggest benefit is having a unified patron record and data set that allows departments to work from the same information.

Its reporting and analytics tools help us track sales, subscriptions, fundraising, and patron engagement without relying on multiple systems. While there is a learning curve, the platform's flexibility allows us to support complex workflows and adapt it to our organization's needs.

The combination of robust functionality, strong support resources, and an active user community has made Tessitura a valuable long-term investment for our organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tessitura?

Tessitura is highly flexible, but that flexibility comes with a steep learning curve. Some workflows can be complex, and parts of the interface feel dated compared to newer SaaS platforms.

Its reporting tools are powerful, but often require technical expertise, creating reliance on a small number of power users. Continued improvements to the user experience and self-service reporting would make the platform more accessible without sacrificing functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Features and Flexible Solutions, Backed by Excellent Resources"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Tessitura?

Tessitura has a wide range of functionalities and gives the user complete control over their database. Documentation, instructional videos, and other materials designed to help people learn and navigate tessitura are easy to find and easy to understand. it does not try to be a one-size-fits-all solution, there are usually multiple possible ways to reach a desired result tailored to a wide range of use cases. What do you dislike about Tessitura?

There can be a pretty steep learning curve when on boarding new users due to how much there is to do in tessitura. There are a few basic discount types or configuration options for reporting that aren't available and really seem like they should be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Outstanding Community and Support, Powerful Data Integration"
4/5
What do you like best about Tessitura?

I am a fan of the Tessitura community. If the documentation is falling short on a specific area, you can launch your question to the community, and usually someone has already had the same issue and come up with a creative solve. They have also spent a lot of time enhancing their support team, which is reflected in response to tickets. Finally, it's a huge boon to have your visitation data linked with your fundraising data. It was the reason for it's original creation and it continues to be a leader in that space. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tessitura?

Version 16 has seen major upgrades in usability, though it has traditionally been a complex system. It has a lot of power behind it, and that can overwhelm trepidatious users or those without power who have the skill of communication on their teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All-in-One Powerhouse, But Overwhelming for New Users"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Tessitura?

I love that its an all in one platform. I love that all departments can find something useful in it. I love how I can access data from all the years we have used the platform. I wasn't with the company when it was implemented, but I have been around for upgrades and its only getting easier and easier. The customer support team is incredible and I love working with them through every weird quirk. I use it every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tessitura?

Its a bit overwhelming for new people. Especially those who have never used a CRM before. Its expensive as well. I think that it works well if you know what you are doing with it, but this is after using the program for 8 years, but I still don't feel like I am using it to its full potential. "Outstanding Support and Community Make Tessitura Stand Out"
5/5
What do you like best about Tessitura?

What I appreciate most about Tessitura is the incredible community and support ecosystem they've built. The user groups and TLCC conference create genuine opportunities to connect with peers and share best practices across the industry. I'm impressed by how they consistently update and improve features based on actual user needs rather than just chasing corporate profits—they truly seem focused on serving their membership. And the staff themselves are outstanding; they're remarkably helpful and respond quickly to inquiries, which makes such a difference when you're trying to solve problems or implement new workflows. It's rare to find a software company that combines powerful technology with such a genuine commitment to supporting the people who use it every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tessitura?

While I appreciate that Tessitura operates as a nonprofit focused on serving its members, this sometimes means more limited resources compared to larger commercial software companies. I'd also love to see them accelerate their adoption of AI capabilities to help organizations work more efficiently with patron data and communications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust, Customizable, and Responsive—Worth the Investment"
5/5
What do you like best about Tessitura?

Tessitura is so robust and customizable. It has been very rare in my nearly 10 years of using Tessitura that I haven't been able to solve a problem. They listen, adapt, and genuinely care about their community's feedback. Ease of use has gotten better with time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tessitura?

Tessitura is expensive, but you get what you pay for. You definitely need someone on your team with technical expertise or curiosity to get the most out of Tess, or you need to be able to pay a consultant to help. If you have someone technically inclined and who is curious on your team, you'll be able to get by on the basics just fine. Older versions were difficult to train folks on, but with v16, that has gotten significantly better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are some many features and possible customizations that it requires additional resources both human and financial. To get the most of the system, I need to work with a consulting group. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Detailed Reporting with Room for Improvement"
4/5
What do you like best about Tessitura?

I like Tessitura because it allows me to input a large amount of data and, in return, provides detailed outputs effortlessly. This capability is especially handy for generating reports that are crucial in our theatre activities, akin to a register for all happenings. Also, having the ability to easily handle such vast amounts of data sets me free from tedious data entry tasks, allowing me to focus my time and efforts on more analytical work, which I deeply appreciate. This aspect of Tessitura enhances my productivity and adds significant value to my daily workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tessitura?

I faced several challenges with the Education Registration Extension in Tessitura. Initially, there were many teething problems, which hindered its efficiency. A significant issue is that the extension does not write back to email, which complicates communication processes. Additionally, the date of birth format defaults to American, but I believe an English format should be standard to avoid confusion. The report generated from this extension also needs improvement to be truly useful. Another inconvenience is the requirement to fill out all the information across several different tabs, which could be streamlined for ease of use. Furthermore, the order page includes a source number whose relevance seems questionable, indicating potential unnecessary complexity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful CRM with Great Support but Steep Learning Curve"
4/5
What do you like best about Tessitura?

I have been using Tessitura for six years, and I appreciate how it serves as the single source of truth for admissions, membership, and contribution processes. This integration of business channels significantly enhances the accuracy and targeting of our patron engagement strategies. I find Tessitura's analytics suite incredibly beneficial for supporting grant initiatives and developing robust marketing campaigns. Additionally, the support system offered by Tessitura is truly reassuring. We have access to assistance for both minor technical issues and larger projects, utilizing channels like standard support, Extended Services, and other specialized groups. The Extended Services team, in particular, has deepened Tessitura's understanding of our organizational needs, allowing for solutions to more nuanced problems. Regular check-ins help us stay informed and on track with our initiatives. Despite the challenging setup, Tessitura's substantial on-site and online support eased the migration of resources and customization. Overall, leveraging Tessitura has been a comprehensive and valuable experience for our organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tessitura?

I find that Tessitura's core design, still reflecting its origins as the Metropolitan Opera's proprietary system, can be complicated and unnecessary for many organizations, leading to clutter. Tessitura is primarily tailored to performing arts organizations, which leaves much to be desired for general admissions organizations such as museums and aquariums. Although recent updates are attempting to address this, the software still has some way to go. Additionally, the initial setup was tough, despite the support received. There is also a significant learning curve and the cost is quite high—these aspects can be daunting initially but the platform is robust once fully integrated and understood.
