# Which energy management platforms work with smart meter integration for existing legacy building automation systems?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">I've been researching <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/energy-management">energy management platforms</a> with smart meter integration for existing legacy building automation systems  for a client brief and the legacy infrastructure angle keeps coming up as the real blocker. Replacing BAS hardware isn't on the table for most of the facilities we're covering, so I'm trying to understand what actually integrates with what's already there. The most successful deployments I&#39;ve seen use a phased approach, integrating existing infrastructure first and then gradually adding newer sensors or meters where the business case is strongest.&lt;/p&gt;
