Additionally, the folks we worked with were knowledgeable about our field, which made the design of our forms easier. The staff was also very helpful in helping us make some last minute adjustments before we went live. **What do you dislike about Submittable?** It is difficult to design a platform that is everything to everybody. With that in mind, there were a few features that were specific to our organization that would have been helpful. Some of those things are coming out in a later version. With the other things, the submittable staff helped us create workarounds. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** Submittable replaced an archaic application system that saddled us down with a lot of paperwork. We have streamlined our application and selection process tremendously. Saving time and reducing the stress around our process has been the most valuable part of this experience. ### 3. Sometimes I would like to add just a title but I have to select the one that comes with the text box included. **Recommendations to others considering Submittable:** Submittable is a very easy and effective platform for any business whether you want to do a survey, a grant, a competition or just any type of application. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Submittable I'm able to have all the submission data in one place. It is easier to contact the submitter as well as the team members to do the review. The points system in the review section has been a revelation. Truly helpful. ### 4. I can go back to each submission, never having to worry about missing a portion of their submitted project or proposal. The ability to make questions mandatory has made it so that our submissions are 100% complete. That eliminates manually contacting applicants regarding missing information. Before Submittable i accepted submissions via email. Inevitably someone would get lost in the shuffle, not anymore. We just utilized the Gallery View for the first time and I think this is a game changer for our graduate student poster contest. The gallery was so well received that we are planning to utilize this feature each semester. My sales team through the years has been terrific. Ashley Widtfeldt was instrumental in helping us get our gallery off the ground during a very stressful time for the university and our students. We love this product and the company support. **What do you dislike about Submittable?** I would like to search by "additional forms" and I'd like a red color to show when they have submitted an additional form. Not only did they walk me through the entire system they had built out with our team, they guided me to helpful resources, and are always there as a continued support if we are ever needing assistance, clarification, inquires on what is feasible and not, etc. **What do you dislike about Submittable?** Wizehive is still building out a lot of great new features, based on the requests of their customers and their overall passion to continue to improve upon their platform. My main concerns are learning how to navigate the platform with the current limitations that does exist, and also wanting to make sure I am aware of the updates when they become available (often you need to request the plugin be put in). **Recommendations to others considering Submittable:** As you build out your platform, you will inevitably want to make edits for the following years. Think through and ask which portions will be easy to "edit" and adjust for your following years. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** (see above). She was a fantastic assistant! **What do you dislike about Submittable?** Some of the other employees lacked any sort of response when we would ask questions. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have implemented this solution for all of our flight training and post-secondary scholarships. The specific program I use the platform for a new program that required vetting of local chapters, and then vetting of their nominated scholar. We also require multiple progress checks along the way. We are currently creating an API between WizeHive and our CRM Aptify. This tie will greatly improve the efficiency of our programs and tracking. This track will eventually lead to more in-depth studies of the flight training process. ### 9. And WizeHive's support staff are unfailingly helpful, no matter how large or small the question! **What do you dislike about Submittable?** The program and process architecture is intertwined to such a degree that minor changes can sometimes lead to instability (or deletion) of programs/processes. However, this risk is lessened as users grow in their experience with the platform, and the customer support team are invaluable to that end. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** WizeHive's ability to create externally-facing portals which link to granular, efficient, and highly malleable internal data sets is superb. It has been such a boon to our efficiency and the size of the scope in which our office can operate with a smaller staff. ### 11. The cleanness of the UI. How intuitive it is to create and edit forms. **What do you dislike about Submittable?** For us to continue using submittable, we need some key features to be added: - a more powerful view/home dashboard that shows applications along with key responses and lets you sort and filter. Wizehive does this much better - An ability to do multiple rounds of review and scoring, down-selecting to smaller sets of applications each round - An ability to assign reviewers to concept notes based on certain criteria - for example, a reviewer would have expertise in a certain geography and would get matched to applications that are focused on or from that geography **Recommendations to others considering Submittable:** Only use submittable if you have a very basic open call for proposals process with only one round of review, and are willing to do most analysis and sorting offline in excel. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** We run annual open call for proposals process - submittable allowed us to receive applications from hundreds of organizations, and run a review/scoring process with a panel of ~30 reviewers. Allow for grading within the app and controlling permissions is why we chose Submittable. **What do you dislike about Submittable?** The application maker is very basic. I don’t like how linear the application is and there lack of formatting ability in the questions. Other form software like FormAssembly has advanced features and wish for an upgrade of the form editor. **Recommendations to others considering Submittable:** It’s the best option available and would recommend it. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had a hard time with doing reviews for our grant application. It's easy for me to find the application I'm looking for and to create detailed searches. It is also easy for applicants to fill out and submit an application. **What do you dislike about Submittable?** I wish there was a dashboard or a homepage to give an overview or snap shot so I don't have to conduct multiple searches. Moving applications into the archive sometimes makes it hard to search for later. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our previous system was not quick or easy and we spent too much time accepting and rejecting applications. Submittable makes that process much quicker and simpler. We are able to give applicants quicker answers and can easily contact them through Submittable with questions. There are never any worries of applications getting lost. The review process is much more in depth and the labels are great for visually identifying specific applications. ### 15. Customer support does a great job both of teaching users/managers/administrators how to fully engage and use the product, but is also very willing to manage those items. **What do you dislike about Submittable?** Some elements we would like to customize aren't there yet, but doesn't limit functionality...these are "nice to have but not vital" items. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a stable, user-friendly platform to handle a high volume of applicants (~200,00). In the first year of using WizeHive, our call and email support volume dropped precipitously (likely more than 90%), as users could resolve their own password resets or find the technical support directly from WizeHive, which we did not have from the previous vendor. Being able to easily assign grants to reviews both in and outside the organization, easily create queries for the stats I need, and the ability to move application through the steps of the system seamlessly make this my top choice since I'm the only staff member dedicated to the Foundation which leaves me with lots on my plate to balance. **What do you dislike about Submittable?** I haven't found anything yet. Needs more help options and tutorials to make the user experience much easier. Still some bugs that need to be fixed (including some issues with a few of the filters in application forms). **Recommendations to others considering Submittable:** If you are needing to collect and save a lot of data from grant applicants and reviewers, this is a great system to use. Now in order to have custom forms we need to sign a pro-rated annual contract. Please allow custom forms in the regular tier-pricing. Now we are essentially held hostage. We can't have blind reviews without signing a contract. It was not intuitive-we only used it once a year-so after 365 days had rolled around, it was as if you needed a whole new training to remember what to do or how to set it up. The technical support is extra cost and the representatives change from year to year so you never get the same person. The worst experience happened this year when we has issues with employee's logins. Wizehive was unable to resolve the issue so we had to use an entirely different software mid-voting. **What problems is Submittable solving and how is that benefiting you?** The backend features of WizeHive are good for determining the winners-the process makes it very easy for a committee to weigh in and select choices. ### 46.
