It's so easy to setup. There's really nothing to it. You could literally be setup in 15 minutes from the moment you go to the website. No hard drives or server or backup services needed on site. All cloud! **What problems is Spanning Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm an independent IT provider and need to help my clients backup their Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace tenants, but I can't be spending time auditing backups and checking in on things. Spanning is so easy to use. Sign up, pay, choose the accounts to backup, done. I love that there's no minimum for accounts I have to backup. Some services require a minimum of 5 licenses or more, but with Spanning I can backup two accounts if I want. Since my customers are usually less than five people, this is ideal. And it's really inexpensive. No hardware, and nothing on-premise needed. The web admin dashboard is quite easy to use. If you are a non-profit they offer non-profit pricing. Restoration are also a little unclear and don't use the best terminology. I have to review their documentation every time I do a restore because it's that convoluted. I can restore data from any date I choose and only the data I want and also how deep I want the records to go. **What do you dislike about Spanning Backup?** I do not like their retention policy as it is not customize-able. I would rather a custom retention be able to be set for all data instead of only an incremental approach. **Recommendations to others considering Spanning Backup:** Look at your company's retention policy and ask about how it is handled at Spanning. **What problems is Spanning Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was completing manually data backups using the internal weekly data export function from Salesforce. This did not collect all the data changes that were being made until the next week. Also metadata was being exported via another third party app, manually. This would take most of my Monday, which would make me a pretty useless developer 52 days a year. After implementing Spanning I no longer have to take any manual backups. Moreover, every recovery action is logged preventing any misuse. **What do you dislike about Spanning Backup?** Trusting a third-party to host our company data should always be a thoughtful step and Spanning Backup could be more transparent on the location of our data (which datacenter/country) and on the steps taken to secure it (dedicated virtual machine/encryption for instance if that's the case). This information may be buried somewhere but having it on hand would make a great positive difference. **What problems is Spanning Backup solving and how is that benefiting you?** We decided to externalize our backups after we noticed a loss of several thousands emails on Office 365 due to most probably a server corruption issue that occurred at the same time. Microsoft eventually recognized the server issue when we forwarded them the failed delivery error messages we received, but never recognized the loss of data. Regardless of the cause, restoring those emails has been a nightmare due to Office 365 lack of tools and recurring issues when dealing with large-size mailboxes.
