Convenient to upload and download documents or print directly from the portal. **What do you dislike about SmartVault?** Awkward navigation and documentation could use some improvement and updating. **What problems is SmartVault solving and how is that benefiting you?** As the owner of a small business, I have been using a CPA – the same one – for many years for my business and personal taxes. In my early years we shared documents by fax and then by secure email or secure cloud transfer. At the beginning of 2023 he implemented SmartVault for sharing documents which I have now been using regularly for the past two years. As his client, this made it much more convenient to prepare and transfer documents when they were needed, as well as download documents for immediate attention. SmartVault is essentially a cloud storage and file sharing service. The advantage is that its focus is to handle accountant / client collaboration. A very nice benefit from a diligent accountant, like mine, was to upload 3 years of my previous tax and accounting information for easy access if needed. At first, I thought the navigation was a bit clunky. Moving back and forth among the pre-defined folders for uploads and downloads and for multiple accounts was not immediately intuitive but I got used to it quickly. I think some of the terminology and phraseology used in the help and instruction documents could be made clearer. For instance, in some of the documentation there are references for Guest Users which mostly refer to accountant’s clients. For some reason the term Guest Users does not sit well with me when working with accounting information ### 5. Both are useful but it seems like there should only be one which has all the features of both. **What problems is SmartVault solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a way to store financial information for our client churches and wanted a way that was convenient and safe for us and them. We were using Google Drive but it is not secure. We learned of SmartVault so inquired to see if it would meet our needs. In the conversation with the sales rep we found out that it interfaces with Right Networks. That make the decision easy. The process of saving reports from QuickBooks in Right Networks is as seemless and easy as any Windows application can be. Further, we no longer have to notify the client churches that there reports are available since SmartVault does that for us. ### 15. Morever, clients are not always very comfortable with this tool, mostly they are non technical and therefore prefer Google over others. It's a basic, low-end storage and file sharing service. **What do you dislike about SmartVault?** I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your storage and file sharing needs. This company prices its service like they are the cream of the crop, but in reality, they are the bottom of the barrel. The price for my plan nearly tripled this year with zero new features or services being added that are actually useful. There is no Android app available, which is ridiculous considering the extreme pricing. And be careful, the company will auto-renew your plan for 12 months and there is no means to cancel for a refund once they charge your credit card. And they will still auto-renew after completely altering the terms of the contract. It is great for us as we have multiple clients of which need multiple people / vendors to have access to their info but not have access to EVERYTHING. This is great with families and companies with multiple owners. **What do you dislike about SmartVault?** The pop-up to the desktop app is a little annoying as we run SmartVault on our Windows Virtual Desktop Environment; the pop-up happens to everyone, regardless of usage. When logging in on a WVD environment each host has to be logged into and that can be frustrating when trying to save user settings. **Recommendations to others considering SmartVault:** Consider the number of portals you need. Consider the number of clients, the security, and the accesses needed. **What problems is SmartVault solving and how is that benefiting you?** Oh wow, we have solved the issues we have run into in the past with litigation cases where we have a significantly detailed folder structure and can upload them as is to counsel. It's great for us, as we have multiple clients, of which several people/vendors need access to their information, but do not have access to EVERYTHING. This is great for families and businesses with multiple owners. **What do you dislike about SmartVault?** The desktop app pop-up is a bit annoying because we run SmartVault in our Windows virtual desktop environment; the pop-up happens to everyone, regardless of usage. When logging into a WVD environment, each host must be connected, and this can be frustrating when trying to save user settings. **What problems is SmartVault solving and how is that benefiting you?** Many of the problems I had, I solved with smartvault. ### 36.
