# Which digital wayfinding software avoids costly render updates when campus buildings change frequently?

When buildings change often, update cost is the deciding factor in comparing digital wayfinding software, so I'd make it the center of the evaluation. The question to ask every vendor: when a building or path changes, is it a self-serve edit or a paid re-render, and does routing update on its own?

Concept3D (4.5 stars, 115 reviews): The most-reviewed campus tool, but a large-campus GIS admin noted routes are drawn manually and data gets duplicated between systems, exactly the recurring cost you're trying to avoid, so press on this before you buy.

MapsPeople (4.6 stars, 21 reviews): Vector and CMS-based, positioned around cheaper self-updates. Lighter on G2 reviews, so I'd verify it in a live test.

Mappedin (4.5 stars, 5 reviews): Also built around low-cost self-updates, but with few G2 reviews I'd judge it in a hands-on demo.

For campuses that change a lot, whose updates stayed cheap and self-serve, and who ended up billing you for every change?

The change-a-route test tells you most of it, but the pricing model tells you the rest: ask whether map edits are included, metered, or professional services. Those three models are the whole cost story for a changing campus, and vendors rarely volunteer which one they are. Self-serve editing with edits included is the combination that stays cheap. Anything where a render pipeline sits between you and a published change will bill you for every construction season, so I'd get the edit pricing into the contract, not the sales call.
