I look forward to interacting with the Shogun team again soon. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** Sometimes, the built preview of the pages are quite what it looks like live, though this could be my inexperience as a self taught graphic designer. Sections and elements are fully customizable and you can even add raw HTML and Javascript if needed as well as support for custom classes. Its hard to grab elements sometimes if they are stacked without spacing. Overall it is intuitive and easy to use especially with the addition of "Show Drop zones" toggle and Layout view. Customer support is fast and very helpful, Integrations are plenty and Images are optimized when uploaded to the page. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** With the addition of features on shogun the backend feels slow and sometimes you need to clear cache or relogin to refresh shogun tokens especially when you switch from store to store. Price - Shogun might be too much for some businesses especially if you are using the sync feature since you need to be on the highest plan per store to use it. I would also love if we can have a features toggle on shogun itself se we can declutter the UI if we are not using them (ex. A/B testing) and potentially make the backend load even faster. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** Shopify's editor lacks flexibility, making it difficult for most users to create varied landing pages and promotions. He reccommeded Shogun and used the platform to create a more robust version of my site. Because I only contracted him for a short period of time, I've been updating the sections he created here and there when necessary. It's been going fine until I royally messed something up and completly deleted a very important "shogun section." I reached out in panic to support and they came through in a big way. Support went above and beyond to restore the section I accidentily deleted and gave me instructions on how to update and publish the sections in the future (teach a man to fish approch...). I am so incredibly grateful for the support team and for them going the extra mile to save a small business owner who is very unfamilar with code or building a website. I'm a fan for life! **What do you dislike about Shogun?** Sometimes I get a little frusterated with the functionality when trying to build or edit a section. It's like I know what I want it to look like but have a hard time finding the features that will ultimatly make it look like how I want. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Shopify as my webhost but needed features outside the theme's offered on Shopify. ### 4. The testing features have gotten better and better and they are constantly making improvements such as segmenting and personalization. We now use personalization logic to easily schedule multiple sales in advance which was not possible before. Customer Service is helpful and implementation was fairly easy. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** The interface isn't the easiest to use if you have custom elements. Sometimes complex manual styling is necessary for creating mobile-optimized. There are some limitations, such as scheduling top banners, product badges, etc. It would be nice to schedule all promotional elements in one place, but that's more of a BigCommerce flaw. We have created landing pages, blogs and we are currently re-designing our homepage using Shogun due to its easy to use drag and drop features that almost anyone can use. Being able to have a wireframe from our designer and implement it to almost exactly what they are after with little to no code has streamlined the way we are able to quickly pivot our sites exactly when we need to. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** The 1 thing that I have not liked is just some of the basic things like sometimes the page may render odd on the front end and I've had to contact customer service to get a code snippet at times to fix some issues for landing pages; but honestly their customer service is also what makes it so god with fast and hassle free responses. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** In the past we have had to engage developers to code our homepage as we could never use the native page builders to get exactly what we want, and of course there are still limitations to Shogun, however we can get it looking almost to what our designer asks us to ceate without much fuss or need for extra code. ### 8. Integrating has been seamless and once I got the hang of it, it's super simple to use. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** Some of the customizations are a little bit clanky (I would describe it like Apple vs Android as far as visuals go). I am currently using the Shopify theme settings as it looks cleaner, for example. It would be incredible to start with those settings and customize from there in any given scenario. I have been using it for several years now (more than five) With Shogun, the ability to control, show, hide elements per viewport size is worderful (responsive design), and their support is top notch. The product is easy to use and has a lot of features for unique user experiences. I've tried the competition and Shogun wins in my book. It wasn't too complex to learn and they are consistently upgrading their offering. Well done Shogun. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** The things I wish I could do with Shogun but can't are more a limitation of their being able to control Shopify elements better like Product pages (specifically product images and forms). Not only do they have live agents, but they are fantastically helpful and nice and go out of their way to help you with your question or problem. Never have they been dismissive or condescending around something I have asked or need help with. And they help you RIGHT AWAY. You don't have to wait three days for an answer. So I love the support. But as for the app itself - I use it in conjunction with Shopify and it gives me everything I need. I create all of my marketing and landing pages with Shogun because it is easy to add functional objects and layouts to a page where I can then customize it to my heart's content. The UI is VERY easy to use. Shogun is one of those products that is a pleasure to use, and which I get excited to use. Also, the team behind Shogun is constantly updating its features and holding webinars about those features. It makes you feel like they will be around for a while, and that they really care about the product and not just about the subscription fee. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** The higher tiers of the subscription is... costly. I work for a VERY small company and I wish some of the features would be available at the lower tier (like global snippets). I wish it was more on a per/seat license or for size of a company. I don't want to have to pay double or triple for some features I feel should come standard. Not the end of the world. Shogun is worth every penny, especially if you use it a lot. Last, while they do add quite a bit of new features, I wouldn't mind them refining/updating some of the older ones (like the ability to add different hero slideshows and/or navigations for it). Again, small stuff. This is a great product! **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** I've been in the creative industry for over 25+ years. I used to do all of the coding for web sites - I'm older now and don't want to do that so Shogun offers me a way to take a lot of the coding stuff out of my hands and makes it easy to just customize the objects and functionality. I would recommend everyone pay for this level of support. The more I use it, the more I like it. It was fairly easy to learn at least as a graphic designer, with little experience of developing a website. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** I think that some of the terminology could be better explained, because as someone without web design experience it is difficult to know when I should use margins vs padding or % vs px, etc. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** I think it can do a lot than I am aware of, but each time I use it I learn something new. I guess our problem was "clients need a landing page" and we're designing it for them so we need a landing page builder that integrates nicely with Shopify. We've made some gorgeous pages with shogun and it's very worth it. The ability to layer elements and controllably build responsive sections and pages is one of my favorite features. The seamlessly integrates into Shopify's page builder is the best. Even if there are features that are not built into Shogun, with a tiny bit of web knowledge you can make a lot happen. We use this on about half of our site. Implementation is easy. Customer support is super responsive. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** There is a few small things that make integration into an exisiting theme's design a little challenging. Specific sections that are made by the theme might not be able to be replicated. And previewing your sections when upgrading themes is a roadbump. Nothing that can't be overcome with some basic code. Would really like the ability to schedule page versions based on manually saved versions, vs autosaved versions.
