**What do you like best about Relay?**

The interface is clean and straightforward, making it easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

opened a business account more than three months ago and still cannot use it. During that time, the company has never explained what issue is preventing the account from being activated.
I have contacted customer service multiple times. Each time, I am told that my account is under review by the compliance team, but customer service cannot tell me why. They also say they do not need any additional information from me to complete the review.
Customer service has repeatedly assured me that the matter has been marked as "urgent" and that I would receive an update. However, they claim the compliance team has not responded to any of their requests, and they have no other way to contact this back-office department.
After more than three months with no explanation, no resolution, and no meaningful communication, I no longer believe this is a viable banking option for my business. I have wasted a significant amount of time and now need to contact my clients and arrange alternative payment methods.
Very disappointing experience.

I like being able to track money going out across our different businesses, and the fees are very reasonable. I also appreciate the option to keep our money in separate accounts, since setting funds aside and reserving them for specific needs is crucial.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

Some of the site navigation is hard to remember. Id like to see all our accounts on the first page rather than having to click on accounts.

Having the ability to add accounts to pocket our funds. It makes things easier to see and forecast

**What do you like best about Relay?**

Relay is the first banking platform I’ve used that genuinely feels built for operators. The UI is clean and fast, the account structure makes cash management (and Profit First-style allocation) insanely simple, and everything feels like it is designed to reduce friction: opening accounts, moving money, setting permissions, and staying organized.

But the real differentiator is the support. Bernardo Tellini has been exceptional, responsive, proactive, and genuinely invested in helping us get things done the right way. It doesn’t feel like “ticket support”; it feels like a partner who understands urgency and cares about outcomes. That level of reliability, plus a product that’s actually founder-friendly, is what I like best about Relay.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

Honestly, there’s very little to dislike. The only real limitation I’ve run into is a recent issue with international payments—at the moment we can’t send them directly through Relay. That said, Relay handled it the right way: they were transparent, took full ownership, clearly explained what happened, and shared what they’re doing to resolve it. In the meantime, setting up a Wise or Revolut account and connecting it to Relay has been extremely simple, so it’s been an easy workaround. Outside of that, everything has been exceptional.

**What problems is Relay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Relay is solving the core problem of cashflow organization and control, making it easy to structure banking the way a real operator runs a business.

It’s been a game-changer for implementing Profit First because we can create a clean, dedicated bank account structure quickly (Income, OPEX, Tax, Profit, Owner’s Comp, etc.) without friction. Opening multiple accounts is fast, the interface is intuitive, and moving money between accounts is simple and predictable. The auto-transfer rules are the real unlock, they’ve been a game changer for Profit First because they automate allocations and enforce consistency without manual effort.

The benefit is tangible: we spend far less time managing cashflow, we reduce errors and chaos, and we can execute allocations consistently, so profitability improves because the system actually gets implemented and maintained, not just “planned.”

**What do you like best about Relay?**

I really enjoyed the ease of opening and closing accounts with Relay. I love the new feature that allows us to send billing invoices to our clients, which they can pay in a variety of ways. This feature has been incredibly valuable to us as it allowed us to consolidate platforms and bring everything together on one website, making our business operations smoother and easier. The initial setup of Relay was very easy and simple.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

Our biggest hang up is the fact that we cannot refund an invoice. If we need to refund somebody money, we have to get their bank account information and send an ACH and not everybody is willing to do that. So that's a little bit of a struggle that I would love to see Relay change.

**What problems is Relay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can easily manage multiple bank accounts with Relay, using it to open and close accounts and move money effortlessly. It also simplifies billing by replacing another platform, making business operations smoother.

**What do you like best about Relay?**

I love how Relay easily organizes my business finances, and I find the way it allows me to organize different accounts really helpful. I appreciate that it provides both a physical and virtual card, and I like that its security and fraud system works well. The good APR for savings accounts is a plus, and I enjoy the seamless connection it has with major banks. I also appreciate how it integrates smoothly with Anchor and QuickBooks Online. The initial setup was super easy, making the whole experience even better.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

I did have a fraud issue. Relay stopped it but it took quite a few transactions because the person was making many small payments. I should've had it set up to flag me quicker but didn't realize I could/should do that. Maybe be prompted to do so, and reminded if it isn't set up.

**What problems is Relay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Relay organizes my business finances, offers physical and virtual cards, a decent savings APR, and a good security system. I like organizing different accounts and its integration with major banks, Anchor, and QuickBooks. It stopped fraud but might prompt users better for quicker action.

**What do you like best about Relay?**

I love that Relay attaches receipts to payments and integrates with Xero so I can categorize expenses when they are fresh in my memory. I really appreciate being able to have up to 20 checking accounts without fees. The automated distributions feature is so nice, and it's very convenient to have one space to categorize my bills sorted by due date. The virtual business cards are also very convenient, and it's great for making bookkeeping efficient and not overwhelming, even for someone not comfortable with accounting. Plus, the initial setup was great!

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

I really need Zelle for making payments. That is the biggest downside so far. Only having the check, wire or ACH options for payments isn't ideal either.

**What problems is Relay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Relay lets me separate accounts without fees and neatly organizes bills by due date. The integration with Xero and receipt attachment makes bookkeeping easy and efficient, even for someone uncomfortable with accounting. I also appreciate the convenience of virtual business cards and multiple checking accounts without fees.

Relay is hands down the best banking platform for business owners. The ability to create multiple checking accounts, seamless integrations with accounting tools, and the real-time cash flow visibility make it a game-changer. The platform is intuitive, fee-free, and built with entrepreneurs in mind. Nabeel Jagani on their team has been exceptional — incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely helpful every step of the way. Ease of use and customer support are truly unmatched.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

Honestly, there is very little to dislike. If anything,  — and as a personal wish, it would be amazing if Relay could support Zelle in the future, though that's more of a dream feature than a true complaint! Relay continues to improve and the team is clearly listening to their users.

**What problems is Relay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Relay has solved the problem of having a business bank that actually understands the needs of entrepreneurs. We use it for cash flow management, expense management, and as our primary digital banking platform. It's helped us stay organized, keep client funds properly separated, and run a cleaner, more efficient operation. We've also recommended it to our clients at Wealth and Legacy Builder, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

**What do you like best about Relay?**

I love the ease to create additional accounts. I also enjoy the ease in modifying the percentages of money being transferred into these accounts seamlessly. The invoice creation is super easy and easy for my clients to follow and pay. I can order new cards quickly and banking is just a breeze. It has helped me use the profit first system and it is working! Now I don't worry about payroll or IRS taxes I have accounts ready and set up for those and money waiting for the bill to be paid. It's amazing. I've been using relay now for over 3 years. I highly recommend it.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

Well I'm using the free version so I really can't complain. I do not use the checks. I think 7 to 10 days is too long, but I don't use checks anymore so that does not affect me.

**What problems is Relay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well they just rolled out the feature to create invoices and send them to your clients to receive payment. That was amazing. I have a few clients that I have to chase and once they saw an invoice from the bank they took care of it right away.

  ### 9. Easy to Use 90% of the time, but Horrible Customer Experience Because They're Not a Real Bank

**What do you like best about Relay?**

It's a technology-forward banking platform that's easy to set up and use for small business owners. It also has a number of useful features to address specific business scenarios.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

It' is a fintech platform, and research on Reddit makes it clear that there are a number of pitfalls resulting from the fact that Relay is not actually a bank. They're a Fintech platform working with Thread Bank. It's possible that Thread Bank will withhold your funds, and there's nothing that the Relay customer support team can do to make them available to you, with Thread Bank's customer support being entirely unhelpful.

Another current example of the problems one might expect is that Relay has recently changed the way they receive international wires, switching from Currencycloud to Nium, but the transition was handled extremely poorly. 
- I had several inbound international wires that were rejected after the issuer had initiated the payment.
- Relay mentioned that approval for international payments through Nium would take no more than 3 business days. It took me 2 weeks to get any sort of help after applying for Nium approval and it has now been over a month during which I've been unable to collect on thousands of dollars of receivables because I can't invoice a client in the UK. Almost 4 weeks into this problem, Relay finally issued a statement saying that they can't promise when international payments will be approved and have disallowed account holders from applying to receive international payments if they hadn't already applied.

It makes it easy to integrate with other fintech platforms like Stripe. It also provides a boilerplate invoicing platform that works well for small business owners.

**What do you like best about Relay?**

I really like the mobile banking appl that Relay has. I can access my accounts using the app at any time, day or night, which is very convenient. The customer service is another big plus for me. The Relay team is reachable by phone, email, or chat, and they're knowledgeable about their services and processes, onboarding criteria as well as solving any issues or concerns. Additionally, the initial setup was easy, with the online application and document submissions being straightforward. The team is always available to help and guide me regarding additional documents or suitable alternatives that I could submit.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

I don't dislike anything about Relay. I do, however, hope that Relay will: 1. Issue business banking customers virtual credit cards for supplier and vendor payments. 2. Add same-day wires and same-day ACH transfers.

**What problems is Relay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Relay offers access to different payment methods and integrates with Stripe and Square. I like using the mobile app and website for checking funds and managing payments at any time. Their customer service is knowledgeable and helps with onboarding and any issues.

**What do you like best about Relay?**

I love the option of having separated accounts, instant transfers between those accounts, and the ability to obtain a debit card that's linked to certain accounts.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

I recently had an unpleasant experience with Relay; when I gave an invoice link to my client and they paid, the transaction was considered a "Self-Payout," and as such, was cancelled and we were threatened with closing accounts and such. Because of this, my client has had to make the payment again, my payment's been delayed, and this has significantly pushed back our experience with Relay. We've used Stripe for years and never have we had to deal with something like this. Honestly, this experience, if not fixed, will certainly make me switch providers.

They're helping us solve having separate accounts for the board. Not all platforms have this feature and it's certainly a plus.

I use Relay for my own banking needs for both my business and non-profit, and I recommend it to my clients because it supports the Profit First system effectively. I find the automatic profit first allocations incredibly useful. It lets me manage my cash flow easily and apply the bank balance accounting method. I love the ease of opening and closing accounts and being able to pay invoices and categorize them to QuickBooks without leaving the application. I also really appreciate my customer service rep.

There really isn’t anything I dislike about Relay. They’ve clearly thought everything through and made a very good app overall.

Relay’s Accountant Level brings all my clients under one umbrella, giving me streamlined access to manage their accounts. It saves significant time by eliminating the need to log in to multiple banking platforms - especially at month-end when we need statements for reconciliations.

Relay is an excellent choice for small businesses that prefer not to depend on traditional banks. It offers all the standard banking features, along with several additional benefits. For example, its Payment requests feature enables businesses to accept payments through credit cards, online transfers, and other digital payment methods, making it easier to collect payments online.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

The only problem I encounter with Relay is that its website can be somewhat clunky when used on mobile devices, and unfortunately, the Android app is not available in my region.

**What problems is Relay solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Relay makes it incredibly simple to assign debit cards to our team members for managing expenses. Reporting those expenses through the platform is straightforward, and the integration with our accounting software ensures that everything is seamless and hassle-free when it comes to end-of-month bookkeeping.

**What do you like best about Relay?**

I love how Relay makes it easier to implement the ProFirst First Method for my business, which is a significant advantage. I appreciate the ease with which I can set up multiple accounts and transfer money effortlessly. The ability to visually organize and see all my money in separate buckets is a feature I find especially beneficial. Additionally, the initial setup of Relay was straightforward and easy, which made transitioning to the system very smooth. On top of all these features, I am impressed to the extent that I would definitely recommend Relay to others, evidenced by my high rating of 10.

I would love the ability to send automatic payments every week, and being able to transfer money from multiple accounts on the app.

**What do you like best about Relay?**

I really like Relay for its platform and the ease it offers. The user interface, especially on a computer, allows you to use and create cards, accounts, and make transfers in a very simple and user-friendly way.

**What do you dislike about Relay?**

The mobile application should allow logging in with Face ID without the need to constantly enter the username and password. On the computer, it's annoying to be logged out frequently. Additionally, it would be ideal if it were easier and safer to log in, especially with Face ID, and to be able to create international credit cards.

I use Relay to receive payments, create virtual cards, and assign roles and account types easily.

Not sure how I even wound up with a virtual card, but somehow someone hacked it and even when they didn't have the correct CVV 2 transactions were let through. Thankfully, support helped rectify this and reverse the charges, but this was frustrating for a little while.

Easily storing and transferring money and avoiding unnecessary costs.

I like some of the services that Relay has, especially the idea of separate accounts and virtual accounts. The idea of having a savings account too is something that I'll utilize, and I find that kinda neat. Relay’s orientation towards new businesses also seems appealing, and setting up was pretty straightforward once I overcame a little hiccup.

I had an issue with the sign-up process where it wouldn't find my Social Security number that I uploaded, but that was fixed. So it's all good.
