Patients can fill out the survey ahead of time so that their pedigree is built before the session and I can see a lot of their medical history prior to them coming in as well. **What do you dislike about Progeny LIMS?** I dislike that sometimes Progeny freezes and I am locked out of the pedigree for the time being. **What problems is Progeny LIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am able to have shorter appointments so that I can see more patients and my waitlist gets shorter. I can also calculate risks with progeny. ### 2. It has some useful features available such as putting in identical twins, marking genetic testing status with a plus or minus, and others. **What do you dislike about Progeny LIMS?** We have one of the cheaper versions of Progeny and one annoyance is that we do not have the ability to send the family history questionnaire to patients to complete online. It would be incredibly helpful to have patients fill this out online at home or in the waiting room and have it automatically generate a pedigree. Be careful of which version you buy if you want this feature. The look of the program could also use some updating. It works just fine but could look a little sleeker and not all features are intuitive. I also wish it integrated with our electronic medical record to upload a pedigree automatically and/or send it to genetic testing labs. **Recommendations to others considering Progeny LIMS:** Make sure you look at the different packages offered by Progeny to make sure it has all the functions you need for your clinic. I would also ask genetic counselors who have used other programs how those compare, again keeping in mind what features will be most helpful to you and your clinic. **What problems is Progeny LIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ability to keep all of our pedigrees in an online database has certain saved us a lot of paper and is really helpful when we have patients return to clinic years later and/or see their family members. It also makes pedigrees a lot more legible than when drawn by hand. ### 3. There has not been a company that has been able to rival what they do. They have made some significant improvements since the 1990s. **What do you dislike about Progeny LIMS?** Progeny is not as user-friendly has it should be after so many years. There is a significant learning curve for clinicians starting teh software. They're pricing model can also be confusing. There should be an online account portal for users to keep track of their account, billing, licenses, etc. There are also features that are included with good intentions, but implemented in ways that are not conducive to improving the program and its intended use. The sample management feature is still confusing to use.
