The biggest benefit to using progeny is that its saves me time in my appointments. Patients can fill out the survey ahead of time so that their pedigree is built before the session and I can see a lot of their medical history prior to them coming in as well. Progeny is straightforward to use for our cancer genetics clinic and has a wide range of cancer indications to choose from. It has some useful features available such as putting in identical twins, marking genetic testing status with a plus or minus, and others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have one of the cheaper versions of Progeny and one annoyance is that we do not have the ability to send the family history questionnaire to patients to complete online. It would be incredibly helpful to have patients fill this out online at home or in the waiting room and have it automatically generate a pedigree. Be careful of which version you buy if you want this feature.

The look of the program could also use some updating. It works just fine but could look a little sleeker and not all features are intuitive. I have been using Progeny for over 10 years and it is a vital tool for clinical manaagement of genetic pedigrees and patient data. Progeny is not as user-friendly has it should be after so many years. There is a significant learning curve for clinicians starting teh software. They're pricing model can also be confusing. There should be an online account portal for users to keep track of their account, billing, licenses, etc. There are also features that are included with good intentions, but implemented in ways that are not conducive to improving the program and its intended use. The sample management feature is still confusing to use. I'm hoping with the merge with Ambry there will be more improvements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
