As a data practitioner, you can choose to build dashboards, explore the data through Data Query, or use and query the data directly via the snowflake data sharing feature in a data platform. Specifically, visualisation options are a bit limited, which forces an end user to query the data myself when I need to build charts or visualisations which aren't available in Piano. What I like best about Piano Analytics is its flexibility and the quality of its data model. The event/property structure makes it easy to design a consistent tracking plan across many different interfaces, and it integrates smoothly with Google Tag Manager, which simplifies deployment and maintenance. What I would like to see improved is the level of autonomy we have on monitoring. Today, it is difficult to independently track API calls and their status, which limits our ability to quickly detect and diagnose issues without going through support. I would also appreciate better governance and traceability features around properties and events: being able to see where each property or event is used (which reports, which dashboards, which users), and how they relate to each other (which events a property is attached to, for instance). I think one of the biggest challenges remains market awareness (BENELUX). From a business perspective, many decision-makers are still less familiar with Piano compared to larger analytics platforms such as Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics. As a result, organisations may not always consider Piano in their initial evaluation process, despite the platform's strengths in analytics, privacy, and data governance. One of the biggest challenges for me is discoverability. Some KPIs, properties, or custom metrics can be difficult to find, especially in Data Query. In many cases, you need to know and enter the exact name to locate them. Features like stronger search capabilities or autocomplete would make navigation much easier.

I would also like to see a more user-friendly way to access and analyze tracking links. Currently, users often have to rely on Data Query and know exactly what they are looking for. A dedicated area for tracking links with simplified reporting would be especially helpful for occasional users, such as marketing colleagues who only use Piano for campaign analysis.

Another area for improvement is documentation. In environments with many custom KPIs and properties, understanding the underlying logic can be challenging, especially in long-standing implementations. Optional documentation requirements or built-in documentation fields for custom metrics and properties would greatly improve transparency and maintainability.
