"Perplexity - A Fast and Useful Tool for Research"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

I like how Perplexity makes research faster by combining AI-generated answers with web search and citations. It helps me quickly understand complex topics, verify information, and find useful sources without having to open dozens of websites. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

Perplexity is very useful for research, but there are a few areas where I think it could improve. During longer research sessions, the interface can start to feel a bit cluttered, which makes it harder to stay focused. I’d also like to see deeper integrations with the tools I already use as part of my workflow.

Performance is generally fast, though more complex searches can sometimes take noticeably longer. Pricing is another sticking point for me, because it’s harder to justify paying for advanced features when I only need them occasionally. Onboarding and support could also be clearer, especially when it comes to more advanced use cases.

My biggest concern is that Perplexity can sound very confident even when the sources are limited or unclear. Stronger source checking and more explicit uncertainty would make the answers feel much more trustworthy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clean, Fast Deep Research with Trustworthy Sources for Market Research"
5/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

Very clean and easy to work with. The deep research is also pretty fast and accurate. For market research, I don’t want random answers, and Perplexity gives me the source right next to the information so I can open the report, article, or company page and verify it myself. That makes the research much more usable and trustworthy for my needs... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

When I’m researching industry numbers, I still have to check original sources since different reports often use completely different definitions. Perplexity is helpful for pulling those numbers but it doesn’t resolve conflicts between them or make inconsistent data line up. The paid plans feel a little expensive, but they make more sense if you’re doing this kind of work every day and need deeper research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Strong Deep Research Tool, but Support and Usage Tracking Need Improvement"
3/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

Perplexity was the first “Deep Research” solution I came across. It’s still a competitive option when I need to research a topic, and it continues to hold up well for that kind of work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

There’s a major lack of support. I’m also seeing an accuracy issue with the usage tracking for the agentic “Computer” feature: everything shows as zero. In the usage panel, there’s no record of me using this feature even though I did. Their AI support bot initially told me it was impossible until I shared screenshots. After that, it said it was connecting me to support, but it has been stuck on “Waiting for an agent to join” for the past 10+ hours. I also joined their discord. No answer yet. When I search for a better way to get help I just see others complaining about no support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Saves Research Time with Essential Source Citations"
5/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

It saves me a lot of research browsing before I start designing. The AI models sources citations is so necessary for me. If I'm researching a design pattern or looking at how competitors structure something, I can actually open the sources and see where the information came from..The pricing is pretty affordable too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

Sometimes the research is still too text-heavy for design work. If I'm researching visual patterns, I want to see more actual interfaces and examples rather than just descriptions of them. and its a bit slower to answer.. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A tool helping on Day to Day basis for all works"
5/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

It has completely replaced standard Google searching for my day-to-day work. Instead of opening 10 tabs, scanning through fluff, and manually compiling answers, Perplexity gives a synthesized summary with clear footnotes to the original pages right away. The Pro search feature is great when I need a multi-step dive into complex topics, and the Focus modes (like Academic or Writing) help narrow the scope so I don't get irrelevant web clutter. It essentially functions as a hyper-efficient research assistant. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

While citations are its core selling point, they aren't always 100% reliable. Occasionally, it generates 'phantom' citations—linking to a generic homepage or an article that doesn't actually contain the specific figure or quote it cited. You still have to manually verify sources for high-stakes reports, which slightly defeats the purpose of automated fact-checking. Also, thread context tends to drop if a conversation gets too long, forcing you to restart the search chain from scratch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Defensible Research with Clickable Citations—My First Tool Every Morning"
5/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

I run an AI revenue architecture practice, so Perplexity sits in the front half of nearly every GTM transformation engagement: sizing a client's market, mapping a portfolio company's competitive set, pulling filings and funding history before a discovery call, and pressure-testing assumptions a leadership team has carried unexamined for years.

The AI and intelligence layer is what earns the seat. Answers come back with numbered, clickable citations, so research output is defensible in front of a CRO or a deal partner instead of something I have to quietly re-verify. Model switching matters too. Fast model for lookups, heavier reasoning model when I am building a point of view a client will act on.

The UI stays out of the way: clean answer, sources alongside, follow-ups that hold context so one question becomes a real line of inquiry. Spaces is what makes it scale. One Space per engagement means account research does not bleed across pursuits.

Performance is fast. Most answers land in seconds. Deep Research trades a few minutes for what a junior analyst would need half a day to produce.

Integrations are practical rather than deep, which suits me. File upload handles the PDFs and spreadsheets clients send over, the extension puts it on top of whatever I am already reading, and the API lets me wire retrieval into workflows alongside the CRM and conversation intelligence stack.

Onboarding was a non-event. No implementation project, no admin lift, productive in the first session. I have never needed to contact support, which I count as a point in its favor.

On pricing and ROI, I run the annual agreement at the standard Pro rate. It saves me 5 to 10 hours a week, which alone justifies it. But the real return is on the sales side. Being able to justify a positioning statement with validated, referenceable data instead of assertion has measurably improved my close rate with new clients. One engagement won on the strength of a sourced argument covers the annual cost many times over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

Source quality is uneven, and the citation UI does not distinguish between them. A ten-K, a trade publication, and an SEO content farm all render as the same numbered link. The provenance is real, but credibility is still my job. For work where I am putting a number in front of a PE-backed board, I end up manually triaging sources more often than I would like. Some kind of source tiering or authority signal would materially improve the product for professional research.

Related, it will sometimes blend figures of different vintages into one answer without flagging that a 2023 market size and a 2026 growth rate are sitting in the same sentence. In market sizing work that is the exact error that costs you credibility, so I always click through on anything numeric.

It also stops at research. It is excellent at retrieval and thin at synthesis, so for the analytical layer of a client deliverable I move the findings into a different tool and do the reasoning there. That is a reasonable division of labor, but it means Perplexity is one step in the workflow rather than the workflow.

Two smaller items. Paywalled primary sources are still out of reach, so I get secondary coverage of the document I actually want. And Spaces work well at ten engagements but get unwieldy past that, since there is no strong way to search or tag across threads.

None of this outweighs the value. It is the tool I open first every morning. But it is a research front end, not a research department. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Source-Driven Research with Room for Improvement"
5/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

What I like best about Perplexity is how quickly it combines web search with AI-generated answers while showing the sources clearly. The citations make it easy to verify information and explore the original references, which is especially useful for research and technical topics. I also like being able to ask follow-up questions without starting the search from scratch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

What I dislike most is that the quality of answers can sometimes vary depending on the sources it retrieves. Occasionally, the response sounds confident even when the cited sources do not fully support the conclusion, so I still need to verify important technical or research-related information manually. I would also like more control over source selection and better consistency when handling complex follow-up questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clean UX and Prompt, Reliable Research with Perplexity"
4/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

The best way I use Perplexity is for research, and I also rely on the news resources I get after doing a search. I trust Perplexity’s data to be about 99% accurate. I feel the information Perplexity shows is really helpful for research and for making progress.

Apart from this, the UX is clean, the usability is easy, and the results are prompt. This AI tool really changed how I used to do research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

I feel if perplexity could have taken the approch to be more versatile with AI responses, that could have been more useful. I can get a good amount of research data but it is not enough to put that data into any proper reserach papers or blogs. I have to rephrase it via other AI tools so that it can be appealing to user/ readers. The cost is decent, but I would like more features and more versatile output if I am going with that pricing. "Perplexity Shines for Real-Time Research with Clickable Citations and a Clean UI"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

Inline citations and source verification — Every answer includes numbered citations that you can click to check the original source.

Real-time web search — Unlike chatbots with knowledge cutoffs, Perplexity searches the live web, which makes it well-suited for current information and research.

Deep Research feature — Often praised by researchers and professionals for its in-depth investigation capabilities.

Clean, minimal interface — The single search bar, along with optional Focus modes (Academic, Writing, Math, Video, Social), keeps the experience simple and easy to navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

Dependency on external AI models and high operational costs are clear drawbacks. As a Pro subscriber, I’ve also run into issues when switching between models, along with low-quality sources at times and fluctuating rate limits. Compared with ChatGPT-style tools, Perplexity feels more limited in conversational depth and isn’t as strong for creative writing tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Automates Research with Speed, Needs Better Pricing"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Perplexity?

I like Perplexity because it helps me quickly find accurate information and explore technical topics efficiently. The automation tools are particularly valuable as they handle repetitive research tasks, gather information from multiple sources, and streamline workflows, making my research and development process faster and more productive. I appreciate that it allows me to compare different approaches and organize findings, which speeds up my research and helps me make informed development decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

One area that could be improved is the pricing. The premium plans can be expensive for individual developers and frequent users. More affordable pricing options or higher usage limits in the free tier would make Perplexity accessible to a wider range of users. The pricing could be more flexible, especially for individual developers and students who use Perplexity regularly but don't need all the premium features. Introducing lower-cost plans, pay-as-you-go options, or increasing the free tier limits would make it more accessible. Offering regional pricing based on different markets would also help more users adopt the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
