Nomad is cluster management works both with on-prem and cloud applications, Nomad also acts as scheduler jobs, whereas Jenkins is CI/CD, this is a hasicorp tool.

This is not great now with Kubernetes having inbuilt containers with all hosts into it and most companies are opting out to Kubernetes compare to Nomad, this is only better for scheduling jobs

**What problems is HashiCorp Nomad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a good scheduler and batch jobs, this also supports legacy and container-based applications, but more companies are moving out of Nomad, it is useful for only limited applications

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hatim B. | IT Architect & Project manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2018

**What do you like best about HashiCorp Nomad?**

The simplicity of the tool: a single binary for the client and the server. The universality of the product: it orchestrates both Docker containers and any other type of service.
The tool integrates natively with other Hashicorp products: Consul for the discovery and Vault service for ACL management.
Node management through client agents allows for simplified management of a node cluster-based infrastructure spanning across multiple data centers and across multiple regions.
The scripts are not complex to edit, and largely variabilized, even if some gaps in the variability of the templates persist. The use of the GOSSIP protocol for the discovery and the election of the leader offers a better availability of the servers, to face the breakdowns.
the UI interface is a plus, but remains to be improved.

**What do you dislike about HashiCorp Nomad?**

Updates stomp. The tool positions itself as an orchestrator of containers and suffers from strong competition from market leaders. the community is not very active. The UI side of the tool needs to be improved for a better user experience.

**Recommendations to others considering HashiCorp Nomad:**

The choice of Nomad is more satisfactory for the operational than the developers. the simplicity and universality of the product is to the detriment of the richness of the solution

**What problems is HashiCorp Nomad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nomad has been used as an orchestrator in a Docker container infrastructure. it has been coupled with other products of Hashicorp: Consul and Vault. Thanks to Nomad, deployments and executions of dockerised applications have been well managed, in a simple and elegant way.

**What problems is HashiCorp Nomad solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can't imagine my life before Nomad. I've been using Vagrant since college, and Nomad is just one more step up. Nomad is the exorcist to my environment ghosts.
