What I like most about NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability is that it allows me to monitor network and application performance and quickly detect issues, helping me analyze their causes and improve performance and reliability. It also helps me quickly identify network issues, reduce troubleshooting time, better analyze application performance, and improve service stability while saving time and effort. I believe the usability of NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability can be improved; it took me some time to understand the settings and link data sources. I think report setup needs simplification, and the interface could be clearer for beginners, with customizable dashboards and clear, concise reports that are easy to export. The biggest drawback is total cost of ownership. InfiniStreamNG appliances carry a high upfront price, and annual support renewals add a significant recurring expense, which makes it hard to justify expanding packet visibility to more links. Scaling storage for longer back-in-time packet retention means buying more hardware rather than just adjusting a license. The nGeniusONE interface also has a steep learning curve. Setting up filters, service definitions, and dashboards isn't intuitive, so in practice a couple of experienced engineers end up owning the tool instead of the wider team using it day to day. I like that application security is a main focus and core feature. NETSCOUT alerts us about ongoing vulnerabilities in the PHP, Python, and other components we use, and tells us what we should remediate. It also observes when data might be sent out of the organization by mistake, including to our internal AI systems. We primarily utilize netscout as a troubleshooting tool. It brings the data together in a central location making MTTR less extensive. I like the readability of Netscout Network and Applications, and how simple it is to navigate around the platform. Customer support has also always been very helpful whenever I’ve needed assistance. Full visibility across the whole environment, from IP to mobile, including the RAN part. The AI component has improved a lot as well. Another major advantage is that you can use it end to end, from the cable part through to the virtual part. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The main pain point with the Netscout solution is its price. Yes, you may be the best, but competitors are offering something “similar” (or at least something that covers customer requirements) for much less. It’s not so much about what I don’t like; it’s more about what I’d like to see improved. I’d like a friendlier user interface for lower-level NOC teams.
