The biggest drawback is total cost of ownership. InfiniStreamNG appliances carry a high upfront price, and annual support renewals add a significant recurring expense, which makes it hard to justify expanding packet visibility to more links. Scaling storage for longer back-in-time packet retention means buying more hardware rather than just adjusting a license. The nGeniusONE interface also has a steep learning curve. Setting up filters, service definitions, and dashboards isn't intuitive, so in practice a couple of experienced engineers end up owning the tool instead of the wider team using it day to day. We primarily utilize netscout as a troubleshooting tool. It brings the data together in a central location making MTTR less extensive. I like the readability of Netscout Network and Applications, and how simple it is to navigate around the platform. Customer support has also always been very helpful whenever I’ve needed assistance. The main pain point with the Netscout solution is its price. Yes, you may be the best, but competitors are offering something “similar” (or at least something that covers customer requirements) for much less. It’s not so much about what I don’t like; it’s more about what I’d like to see improved. I’d like a friendlier user interface for lower-level NOC teams. I like the deep packet visibility and smart correction in network and application data of NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability. It provides the root cause of issues effectively. This feature saves us from manual troubleshooting as it gives us the truth in packet data and connects the dots instantly, allowing us to fix issues in minutes instead of hours. The UI is not very intuitive and the learning curve is steep for new users. I think modernizing the UI, simplifying onboarding, and fine-tuning default alerts to reduce noise out of the box would be improvements.
