"N-Central as MSP or IT Manager/CIO"
5/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

As a Support Centre Manager in an MSP environment, I've had the privilege of using N-central for many years, and I can confidently say that it is one of the most reliable and efficient remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools available. Overseeing multiple customers, I needed a solution that could provide deep visibility into their endpoints and give me the flexibility to manage and support them all seamlessly. N-central did exactly that, offering exceptional oversight and significantly streamlining day-to-day operations.

The automation features, in particular, saved a tremendous amount of time and resources. From automating routine maintenance tasks to setting up proactive alerts and remediation processes, N-central allowed my team and me to focus on more strategic tasks while reducing the manual labor often associated with endpoint management. It truly transformed our workflow and increased productivity across the board.

Since transitioning to a new company and establishing an internal IT department, one of my first actions was to implement N-central. I knew from my experience with the product how vital it is for managing and securing endpoints at scale, and it has been indispensable in helping me build an efficient, proactive IT operation.

N-central is a fantastic product that equips IT managers, CIOs, and MSPs with the tools they need to manage their environments effectively. It scales easily, integrates with various third-party applications, and provides powerful reporting and analytics that help identify potential issues before they become problems. I would highly recommend N-central to anyone in a similar position who is looking for a reliable, feature-rich platform for endpoint management. Whether you're an IT manager in a corporate environment or an MSP handling multiple clients, N-central is a solution that will undoubtedly make your life easier. "N-central review"
4.5/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

There are so many features available, and I appreciate that there are multiple ways to accomplish the same task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able N-central?

Take control does not always install successfully on the first try. Sometimes, I have to attempt the installation more than once before it works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Switched from CW Automate on-premises, comparing the differences."
4.5/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

Onboarding clients, we're able to use the probe, deployed on the server and using a domain admin account we can deploy our agents quickly and easily. It's integrated with our EDR which installs automatically. Calling N-Hanced support has always been quick and straightforward. N-Central has become our tech's first stop to resolve tech issues including warranty lookup, Take Control, creating and making use of filters. Our lower tiers use it for almost every call.

I wrote a lot about what I dislike, but overall I think it's a very handy tool, and just like Automate, the more you put in the more you get out of it. I hope the dislike doesn't come across as complaining, but rather little pieces of friction that doesn't stop our use of N-Central and its various modules, but highlights how well everything else works about it that we like about N-Central.

We've recent started using Rewst and being able to use N-Central agents to query DCs has been wonderful. I can't imagine using Automate with that rather than N-Central. Overall we save time and effort in training new employees using N-Central than we did with Automate, which was only used in certain circumstances rather than the first tab techs pull up when working a ticket. It's easy to use and the training that comes with the N-ableMe speeds up tech training time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able N-central?

Take control still needs work. Working on multiple monitors, the taskbar doesn't reflect the monitor the window is on (only shows on the primary display). We came from ScreenConnect, which still seems like the golden standard for remote access, some features we miss include "Backstage" where we can sneakily remote on without interrupting our client. The primary function we performed backstage was running TreeSize to determine where data lives. We like the the "Timeline" feature of ScreenConnect as well, which will give an accurate, to the minute, remote agent connects and disconnects. Not to nag on Take Control too much, but we would love to see a tighter integration with ScreenConnect, having it as another option along side Take Control, but also update the sites and hostnames in ScreenConnect as they change in N-Central.

The new "Assets View" that replaces All Devices requires SSO and we have it set up through M365 which prevents us from trying out new features. I'd love to see reports have more features, such as a timeline of events that happened on a particular agent, including online/offline events, scripts ran (manual and through scheduled tasks), maintenance window events, patch managment events all in one view. Our procurement team would like to see display resolutions for the monitors attached to each agent.

Automation Policies: Love them, with an asterix. I wish there was a way to edit the automation policies via the web browser rather than through the Automation Manager. I'd like to be able to edit the powershell within the AMP directly in the browser. Version control would be wonderful, allowing us to rollback changes and highlighting differences between versions. We have Properties to store values in, however having a place to include CSV files within N-Central that's the AMP can save data to would be fantastic. An example of this might be we want to make a list of all the local admins on all computers, or any data that we would use Powershell for. Coming from Automate (on-premesis, and we're using n-cod on N-Central) we used the File Transfer function fairly often. I have found a way to do something similar with Powershell and the File/Script Repository but having something native in the Automation Manager (web version, fingers crossed) would be helpful and less prone to changes (for example when we update an app we don't have to update all the scripts that file was connected to). "N-central asset management is ready"
4.5/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

N-central is an enterprise asset monitoring platform that enables customers to achieve a very high level of compliance, with respect to regulations such as NIS2, GDPR, DORA and in general in the management of endpoint security. Very stable and safe product Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able N-central?

The user interface is old but N-Able is working on revamping it and making it up to date Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"new to ncentral but big upgrade from our last solution"
4/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

Everything is in the same solution, we used to have 1 solutions for inventory 1 for deployment software 1 for Remote control but now it's all in same solution and I am still discovering new features that help me in my job Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able N-central?

The only thing I have difficulty now is to deploy multiple software at the same time on a new computer but I might just not have found the right way to do it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good tool, somewhat useful information from the breakout rooms, needs some work though."
5/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

Easy to use for the most part unless you are trying to get into really complex stuff. Overall satisfied with the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able N-central?

Analytics needs to be refined. Hopefulyl the form filled out at the conference will bring over some key features from Report Manager to help the tool. In addition, it would be nice to not have limitations within Analytics such as the details split across dashboards. We would like to make a consolidated 1 page report to provide to clients that ahs basic information. Things like # of assets, expired warrantys or upcoming expirations, # of patches ran the last month, etc. These would be a great addition to the current system. I would also like to see some better integration with the sentinel one integrated console. We would love to be able to push SentinelOne easily to devices, perhaps theres a better way but we would like to use custom properties to do so. It would also be beneficial to have an analytics tab on this to provide clients with a security report for the month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Rapidly growing MSP migrated all managed devices from old RMM to N-Central remotely in 7 days"
5/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

Device details, specifically the monitoring tab is fantastic for techs to get a visual overview of device status and health. The absolute wealth of built-in monitoring is huge and the built-in automation to automatically add monitoring services to devices is super helpful, installing an Agent on a device with Hyper-V for example, monitoring is automatically added for CPU, Memory and Disk usage of the Host and each VM is monitored individually for uptime and autostart, it's a beautiful thing to see I am really enjoying creating custom services to suit our clients' needs and environments. A simple PowerShell script was used to deploy Agents seamlessly from our old RMM and it took me less than 7 business days to migrate our 300 or so endpoints to NC Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able N-central?

The menu items in the main GUI can be a bit overwhelming at first but I got used to navigating the UI pretty quickly. Maybe it's just me but it took me a while to wrap my head around the concept of Rules, Filters and Service Templates and how they work together and are applied. I am now able to create a Rule with specific Service Templates applied to devices with a filter but only for a subset of customers, or even templatise my Rules at SO level with no filter added and simply clone at Customer level and add filter. "Excellent overview of API"
4.5/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

I have found nAble to be an excellent resource. Mostly for monitoring and remote access but I have dabbled with Automation Policies and fought with the reporting tools. The API approach could work better for me for some of the reporting tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able N-central?

Nothing especially springs to mind. Though the speed has dropped markedly over the last couple of years. Feels more sluggish than before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Premium products at a reasonable price."
4.5/5
What do you like best about N-able N-central?

Sentinel One relationship is enough on its own. But it is a fortuitous RMM anyway and good support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about N-able N-central?

I would have researched the steps for things like Mail assure and Passport before signing on. Some of the pricing structures for Passportal are not competitive IMO. But as far as getting the job done I've been pleased. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
