What is Moz Local, and what problem is it built to solve?

Moz Local helps businesses manage their local listings by bringing business information together and distributing or monitoring it across directories. This makes it easier to keep details such as a business’s name, address, and phone number consistent online.

What languages does Moz Local support?

Moz Local supports 1 language: English.

What company sizes and industries is Moz Local the best fit for?

Moz Local’s reviewer base is concentrated in small businesses, with agency and multi-location listing work also represented. The most visible company-size and industry segments are:
  • Small businesses: Organizations with 50 or fewer employees are the clearest size cluster.
  • Mid-market and enterprise: Both are represented, including teams managing multiple locations.
  • Marketing and advertising: A prominent industry segment, including agencies managing local listings for clients.
  • Technology and internet: Information technology, computer software, and internet businesses appear regularly.
  • Consumer-facing businesses: Retail, consumer services, healthcare, and hospitality are also represented.

How long does it take to implement Moz Local across a team?

Moz Local can be quick to set up, though the time reported to go live varies. The most common reported range is under one day, with under one month also a frequent timeframe; longer waits are reported as well.
Time to go live Relative frequency
Under one day Most common
Under one month Also common
One to three months Reported less often
Three to six months or longer Occasional reports

What customer support options does Moz Local provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Support is available through email/help desk, chat, FAQs/forum, and a knowledge base, including 24/7 live-representative support. The experience is mixed: users appreciate helpful, knowledgeable responses when they connect with the team, while others describe slow replies, difficulty reaching support, or delays getting an issue resolved.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Moz Local from another tool?

Switching from tools such as Yext, BrightLocal, Localeze, or manual listing workflows has been tied to cost, ease of use, and a desire to manage listings in one place. Moz Local can reduce repetitive work and make listing updates more manageable, while users’ comparisons also point to differences in coverage, control, and how quickly updates appear.

What tools and platforms does Moz Local integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Moz Local’s day-to-day listing work connects with business profiles and directories across search, maps, and data-aggregator services. Examples include Google Business Profile and Bing, along with Facebook, Yelp, Apple Maps, and Foursquare:
  • Search and maps: Google Business Profile, Bing, and Apple Maps.
  • Social and review platforms: Facebook and Yelp.
  • Directories and data aggregators: Foursquare and Localeze.
Managing business details centrally can reduce the need to update each service separately, though the timing and completeness of changes can vary by destination.

What features or capabilities could make Moz Local even more useful?

Moz Local could be more useful with clearer visibility into what is happening to listings and more ways to act on issues directly. The recurring improvement requests include:
  • Clearer progress tracking: Show when submissions are received, published, or delayed, with a clearer history of changes.
  • Broader directory coverage: Add more listing destinations, including niche and local directories.
  • Simpler listing fixes: Make it easier to correct information and resolve duplicates without extra manual steps.
  • Stronger reporting: Add more detailed reports, historical comparisons, and easier export options.
  • More efficient multi-location workflows: Improve bulk editing and tools for organizing multiple clients or locations.

"Moz Local Keeps Client NAP Consistent Across Directories"
4/5
What do you like best about Moz Local?

I use Moz Local for our agency's local business clients, and its main value is consistency. I enter a client's business details once, and Moz Local distributes them to the data aggregators and directories we care about, keeping name, address and phone (NAP) identical everywhere. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

Customer service response time takes ages. I ran into an issue with changing the logo for a client in a specific industry directory the team got back to me in 2 weeks, the task was executed within a month, which wasn;t ideal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"MOZ local is a waste of time and money"

What do you like best about Moz Local?

Nothing. I have never been more disappointed in a SAAS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

After being a MOZ customer for 7 years, I've experienced a significant decline in their local directory submission service. Key issues include:

Our listings decreased from 115+ to only 32 within the past year, despite maintaining our same level of engagement.

Customer support was largely inaccessible when I tried to address these concerns.

Upon investigation, I discovered a competitor's link had been added to one of my citations containing my company's content, raising data management concerns.

When I terminated the service, MOZ "unhooked" my business from placements I had independently acquired, including Apple Maps!

Most troubling were emails threatening that my citations would be sold to others upon my plan's expiration - a questionable practice involving brand-owned content.

I DO NOT recommend MOZ for directory submissions based on these experiences. Businesses should consider alternatives with more responsive support and transparent practices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An indispensable tool for SEO"
4/5
What do you like best about Moz Local?

Moz is a must-have tool for SEO persons. Before creating a backlink to any site, I can quickly check that site's Domain authority & spam score. As DA, PA & spam scores are essential metrics. Through the Link research feature, Moz will provide all necessary details regarding a site. Also, it is very easy to check all DA, PA, and Spam scores, using the Moz extension and it is completely free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

For my requirement Moz Local is perfect. But It has fewer features compared to its competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

What I like least is the cost; I think the tool is more expensive than what it offers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Moz Local?

Products used to be great. Not so much, Policy changes to stick us for a year. Do not take into consideration the MSP needs or wants. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

Invoicing: poorly done, not easy to read, not reconcilable. Does not make being a customer easy. Ticket resolution slow. Client success managers, don't know anything about the other products. Too many hoops to jump through to get help. Account managers are aweful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Moz Local Fulfills All SEO Requirements"
4/5
What do you like best about Moz Local?

MOZ is ideal for SEO-related items like site audits, crawling reports, etc. Using Moz's incredibly user-friendly interface, I can quickly generate beautiful reports for clients and myself. I use it specifically to reveal "no-follow" connections on websites. This is especially beneficial when considering using backlinks by posting on websites supporting content syndication. Although it offers keyword tracking, it goes further in a few aspects. Search Visibility is a measure that the system offers. This score may be applied to all the keywords being tracked or only to those within a user-defined category. As a result, this aids in our understanding of the website's performance and specific product categories. Additionally, we can see how the three rivals stack up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

Their customer service is subpar. Occasionally, data from a tool used to assess competition is not correct. There are several differences if you compare the data from MOZ with that from Google Search Console and Ahrefs. I used them to analyze ten projects for links and discovered that they could not crawl backlinks that I made a few months ago, despite being visible in search console data. They must improve their dot bot. They are unable to recognize the internal connections on my websites either. I found 8 out of 100 projects had no internal links when I examined them. The Moz Local tool is missing essential functions like Citation Builder and Reputation Manager. There is no free trial available for Moz Local either. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User Friendly Platform"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Moz Local?

I used Moz Local to manage local listings for our company. The platform made it easy to manage consistent listing information across most of the major listing services. The subscription cost was also reasonable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

Although most of the relevant listing services are covered, Yahoo was not. We had some inconsistent listings on Yahoo, and this became a problem that we had to address through another local listing platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miro Mustonen of Moz Local

Thanks for the review, Rusty! Glad to know you found Moz Local easy to manage and found the cost reasonable. We shared the feedback on Yahoo with our team.

"Moz Local is a pretty dang good platform"
4/5
What do you like best about Moz Local?

The overall ease-of-use of Moz Local is the main selling point for me. It took us a grand total of 15 minutes to get ~50 locations set up in the platform and ready for distributing data. Then, we were able to get right to work on duplicates! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

The most annoying part about Moz Local is that there was an issue when we turned on the Google Sync. We were able to get the issue fixed, however, by discussing it with their support team - they even corrected the issues on the live listings for us! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miro Mustonen of Moz Local

Hi there - and thank you for the great review! Great to know that you find Moz Local so easy to use and that support was able to help you out.

What do you like best about Moz Local?

Moz Local is good. I like the simplicity of the website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Moz Local?

I would like to access more resources and improve my organic traffic for my clients. I wanted some academy learning, but you have to pay. SEMRush offers it for free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
