**What do you like best about Jira Product Discovery?**

At LocalConnect, we use Jira Product Discovery to collect customer feedback, create idea records, and prioritize feature requests before each release. I like how custom fields and prioritization make it easy to compare ideas based on customer impact and business value. Once an idea is approved, we link it directly to Jira Software so the development team can start implementation without duplicating work. The integration with Figma also helps us review designs while discussing new features, making product planning much more organized and collaborative.

**What do you dislike about Jira Product Discovery?**

While Jira Product Discovery is very useful overall, some advanced roadmap views and customization options are only available in higher plans, which can be limiting for smaller teams. When managing a large number of ideas, the workspace can sometimes feel slower, making it take longer to review and prioritize features during planning sessions. I would also like more flexible dashboard customization and reporting so it's easier to share product updates with different stakeholders.

Before using Jira Product Discovery, our product ideas and customer feedback were scattered across different documents and discussions, making prioritization difficult. Now we can collect feedback in one place, score ideas, and align the team before development begins. The integration with Jira Software makes it easy to move approved ideas into development, reducing planning time and helping us make more informed product decisions.

**What do you like best about Jira Product Discovery?**

First, you’ll love that you can make your own fields and view types without having to use spreadsheets outside of the product, such as creating “Now/Next/Later” roadmaps, impact-effort matrices, etc. This saves a lot of time because all those things are typically created using spreadsheets.

Secondly, if you’re already using Atlassian’s software suite, including Jira Software for ticket tracking, then integrating Backlog into your process will be easy. You can easily connect discovery ideas to delivery tickets in Jira. As an example, I’ve used Jira since 2013 on various projects at my company, but didn’t start working in backlog until recently – now that I’ve started using backlog, everything connects together nicely and creates a more streamlined flow from ideation through execution.

**What do you dislike about Jira Product Discovery?**

Idea’s biggest problem for us though is being able to connect ideas to others – there isn’t an option here to create a hierarchy between them, you have to do this with some pretty rudimentary hacks (custom fields). I understand why they’ve done things this way, but this feature shouldn’t be too hard to build and would make a world of difference in making Idea more powerful out-of-the-box.

**What problems is Jira Product Discovery solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything that used to be scattered across different spreadsheets, Slack channels, and other places is now consolidated into a single platform, with tags attached so it’s easier to keep things organised.

It’s also helped close the gap between our product and engineering teams. There’s no need to re-enter information once an idea gets validated—you can simply move it from here to Jira.

Prioritisation conversations aren’t filled with “opinion” anymore; they’re grounded in actual views. That makes it much simpler to defend our roadmap with the leadership team.

I really appreciate its seamless connection to the engineering pipeline, unlike traditional product tools that require manual translation of ideas into development tickets. The idea prioritization views are the highlight finally have a structured way to rank what actually matters. UI is clean and intuitive, much lighter than regular Jira which is a relief. Integrations with Jira Software are convenient, keeps product and dev teams aligned without extra tools. Performance is smooth, no complaints there. Onboarding was quick, support docs are solid. AI-driven insights for spotting patterns across customer feedback is a nice touch, saves a lot of manual digging. Talking about the pricing it felt pretty reasonable if youre already a preexisting customer of the atlassian

What I like best about Jira Product Discovery is how it makes idea prioritization more structured and transparent. The UI is easy to navigate, and custom views, roadmap, timeline, and delivery status views provide good visibility throughout the lifecycle of an idea. The AI features are useful for generating and refining idea descriptions, saving time during the discovery process.

**What do you like best about Jira Product Discovery?**

It’s really easy to use. The simple, intuitive design makes it quick to understand, unlike some other project management tools. And if you’re an advanced user, you can still use Jira’s Marketplace Apps without spending ten thousand hours figuring everything out.

That said, some screens take a while to load. It’s not as fast as Trello, and there’s definitely more loading time compared to Trello (which feels instant). On the other hand, it’s also more advanced than Trello. I think at least some of that loading comes from how extremely customizable the spaces are. Every time you create a new space, you can tailor the entire workflow, and the onboarding process gives you solid, high-level control over how you want to manage projects philosophically.

Even if you don’t pay and stick with the free plan, you still get more features than you typically do with an average PM tool, so it’s worth giving it a shot.

**What do you dislike about Jira Product Discovery?**

The load times are frustrating. There were countless times when I had to refresh the browser because it got stuck during the onboarding flow.

Also, if you’re feeling lazy, you might not find any useful AI features. It would be great if I could use AI to quickly create the perfect space for me based on my past usage patterns, personal choices, and workflow.

The Published Views feature has improved our stakeholder management, enabling a 'pull' model for real-time visibility into our Azure strategy while keeping the engineering team focused. Integration with tools like Azure DevOps, Microsoft Teams, and Qualtrics enhances its functionality, supporting a seamless 'Digital Thread' from our strategic roadmap to technical delivery. The technical setup was seamless with our existing Atlassian and Entra ID stack, making the implementation smoother and more efficient.

The biggest hurdle is the siloed nature of the feedback loop. While it's excellent for internal prioritization, it lacks a native public-facing portal for broader stakeholder engagement. Additionally, for teams in a hybrid environment, the Azure DevOps sync still has minor latency that requires manual oversight. I’d like to see more conditional logic in the scoring formulas so we can automate our risk-based prioritization more effectively.

Before JPD, my product discovery lived across scattered spreadsheets, Slack threads, and random docs. JPD brings all of that into one centralized sandbox designed specifically for product thinking, not just task tracking. The standout feature for me is the decoupled data structure. I can capture raw ideas, customer pain points, and feedback without cluttering our delivery boards or prematurely committing to a build. It maintains the underlying context, so the engineering team can actually see why we are building something, keeping everyone connected to the bigger picture without any manual duplication of work. JPD is built for product managers, but getting sales or customer success to regularly input feedback or vote on ideas is tough because the permission settings are so rigid It’s an incredibly powerful tool for connecting discovery to execution, but it still feels restricted by the rigid, engineering-first constraints of the broader Jira ecosystem.

JPD has been valuable for us because it allows us to prioritize ideas and the follow those ideas, along with the related issues, all the way through to production. We can bring in feedback, link ideas directly to jira tickets and keep everything visible, organized and easy to track in dashboards. The automation options are helpful, too we have set up workflows where specific updates automatically trigger the right actions at the rigt time. The interface is clean overall, especially once you get usec to how its laid out.

There are a lot of features , which is good thing, but at first it can feel a confusing. If you don’t keep things simple, it can fastest become hard to mange. Some of the automation setups also aren’t very intutive, so it takes time to figure out the best way to set them up.
